Roger Goodell & Kendrick Lamar

While some are upset over Kendrick Lamar headlining the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is “feeling great.”

As previously reported social media has been buzzing this week with chatter that Lil Wayne was “snubbed” from being onstage in his hometown of New Orleans. Several celebs weighed in including Nicki Minaj who seemingly slammed Jay Z and Roc Nation for the decision.

“Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,” wrote Nicki. “Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!!!!!! THE GOAT?!!!!!!!!!!! Nola what’s good?!!!!!!

Birdman later weighed in and called it a “p**y move” and Drake shared photos of Wayne on his Instagram Story in solidarity.

According to TMZ, despite the negative chatter, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell couldn’t be happier about the selection.

TMZ caught up with Goodell in New York City Thursday and he told them he’s “feeling great [about it]!!” considering that he’s a Kendrick fan. Despite what the culture says, the NFL is all about business and continuing its partnership with Roc Nation.

All the hate is just fuel to the fire for Kendrick Lamar who has revealed he’s already fed up with folks in the culture. On his new track “Watch The Party Die” he makes it clear he’s ready to whip Hip-Hop into immaculate condition.

Will you be watching Kendrick during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show?

A press release reports that the “starry-eyed social media influencer” has her eyes set on transitioning from the digital world to television and is even willing to go to extreme lengths—even eliminating her competition, to do so.

Police receive improved equipment

Another young Black man has had his life stolen by police officers who squeeze first and ask questions last. Earlier this week, body camera video was released showing 26-year-old Justin Robinson being gunned down by Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers in the early morning of September 1, 2024. Ironically, Robinson was a dedicated activist against gun violence and put in the work to help change his community.

According to the police reports as documented by CBS News, at 5:30 am MPD officers responded to a call about a car that had crashed into a local McDonald’s. When they arrived on the scene, it was noted that the driver of the vehicle, Robinson, was unresponsive with a firearm in his lap.

In the video, you will see officers approaching with their weapons drawn and trained on the driver’s side of the car while telling Robinson, “Sir, keep your hand off the gun.” What follows is an officer threatening to shoot Robinson “in the f***ing face” and then a barrage of bullets fired into the shocked man’s vehicle.

Warning! The video is graphic. Please take your mental health into account before pressing play.

According to CNN, the Robinson family was very reluctant to consent to this footage because MPD informed them that it would be heavily redacted once released to the public. Justin’s sister Tralicia said, “We wanted to watch the video ourselves and then be able to tell our own story before the video was redacted.”

Robinson was someone who felt strongly about protecting children from gun violence and worked for a program called “Cure the Streets” which was created by the District of Columbia’s Office of the Attorney General.

“He always had a smile,” his sister told (CNN affiliate) WUSA. “If anyone ever see him and it’s time to depart they’ll say, ‘I love you,’ and he’ll say, ‘I love you more.”

Rest in peace to Justin Robinson. If you find it in your heart to help his family, there is a GoFundMe set up to accept donations.

After dominating the charts all summer with “Not Like UsKendrick Lamar has returned with black Airforce energy on Watch The Party Die.”

Kendrick Lamar is having the best year of his career after a highly publicized feud with Drake where he defeated his foe while dropping the biggest song of his career.

The biggest question since has been, ‘Where does Kendrick go from here?’

On Wednesday we received the answer in the form of a new track from the Super Bowl LIX performer posted directly to Instagram.

According to Variety, the track is titled “Watch The Party Die” which perfectly fits the subject matter. In the song, Kendrick goes after influencers and media constituents allegedly pushing propaganda without any integrity.

“Dirty mackin’ b****s because your spirit is insecure / The flashy n***s with nasty decisions using money as a backbone/ I want his head cracked before he’s back home/ The radio personality pushing propaganda for salary/ Let me know when they turn up as a casualty/ I want agony/ Assault and battery/ I see a new Earth filled with beautiful people making humanity work/ Let’s kill the followers that follow up on poppin’ mollies from/ The obvious, degenerates.”

Interestingly enough, the track references Christian rapper Lecrae who recently did an interview claiming Drake is a “fan of the culture” while Kendrick Lamar is a “product of the culture.” Kendrick also makes a mention of rapper Dee-1 who’s a man of God as well.

“Sometimes I wonder what Lecrae would do/ F*** these n***s up or show ’em just what prayer do,” raps Kendrick. “I want to be empathetic, my heart like Dee-1.”

It’s clear that King Kendrick is still in the booth and his album is likely on the way.

Nightcap Summer Sessions With Shannon Sharpe & Chad

Shannon Sharpe – Source: Julia Beverly / Getty

After initially alleging that he was hacked, Shannon Sharpe admitted taking his mystery Michelle to Club Shay Shay after dark during an “accidentally” streamed Instagram Live.

Just mere hours after a cyber attack was alleged on his phone, Shannon Sharpe sang a different tune Wednesday during an emergency episode of his Nightcap podcast.

During the YouTube stream, the NFL Hall of Famer admitted to accidentally streaming a sexual encounter and said he was “extremely embarrassed” about what went down.

According to Shannon, he was eager to get down to business during the smithereens session so he threw his phone down and went to work; that is until he received several FaceTime calls telling him what happened.

According to the NY Post, Sharpe’s marketing partner Jamie Fritz was the person to get him on the phone and break the bad news causing his heart to “sink.”

Not only that, but Sharpe’s employee Jordan Barber sprang into action to end the Live and posted the “hacked” statement before Unc instructed him to delete it so he could clear the air.

“Obviously I am embarrassed for a number of reasons, there are a number of people who count on Shannon to be professional at all times and I always try to be professional at all times, even when I’m behind closed doors,” said Shannon on Nightcap. “I’m very disappointed in myself, not for the act. I think there are millions and billions of people of consenting age that engage in activities, but for the audio to be heard, I’m very disappointed in myself. I let a lot of people down.”

The main inquiry on everyone’s mind was how ESPN reacted to the crisis and that’s seemingly up in the air. Shannon divulged however that he contacted the company and kept it all the way real.

“My phone wasn’t hacked. It wasn’t a prank, it was me being a healthy, active male,” he shared. “Ya’ll thought I was bulljiving, Unc get it in.”

Later in the emergency episode, Shannon revealed Katt Williams reached out to him and jokingly said he beat allegations about his sexuality. “You ain’t gay today!” said the comedian.

Ochocinco also unsuccessfully tried to get Unc to reveal the identity of his mystery Michelle, but Shannon refused and urged the media to stop trying to find the woman.

“Man, will y’all stop reaching out,” said Shannon about people trying to put two and two together. “Y’all not gonna figure it out! If you have definitive proof and you wanna reach out and they have a conversation with you, okay, that’s fine. Don’t invovlve people; y’all ain’t call me. Call me!” he added.

“When you involvle people that ain’t have nothing to do with it, that’s what I have a problem with.”

Ochocinco also joked about his co-host’s performance and alleged that his cardio needs work.

“Hit the treadmill first!” said Ocho.

Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders even reached out to Shannon to speak some life into him during this turbulent situation and the podcast host said it brought him to tears.

After the serious talk about Shannon appreciating the words from Prime, the Nightcap episode continued and Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco continued to make light of the situation.

You can watch the full emergency episode of Nightcap below.

Another woman has filed a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs.

2009 BET Awards - Backstage and Audience

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty

The disgraced music mogul, who is already being sued by multiple people, is being hit with another lawsuit, this time, from a former Bad Boy artist.

Dawn Richard, a member of the girl group Danity Kane, sued Combs on Tuesday, Sept. 10, accusing him of sexual assault and inhumane treatment. She also claims to have witnessed him physically abuse his ex Cassie Ventura multiple times.

As a participant in Diddy’s popular MTV series Making the Band back in 2004, Richard claims in court documents obtained by TMZ that Combs allegedly called contestants “fat,” “ugly,” “b****es” and “hoes.”

She also alleges to have seen Combs’ ex Kim Porter leaving a studio crying with bruises all over her face in 2005. Years later, Richard claims she witnessed Diddy throw Ventura against a wall, choke her, and drag her up a flight of stairs in his Los Angeles home.

Dawn goes on to claim that she saw Combs throw a “scalding” hot pan of eggs on Cassie while yelling at her, and in another instance, allegedly punch Ventura in the face and attempt to strangle her with his bare hands.

According to the lawsuit, Richard and her Dirty Money bandmate Kalenna Harper tried to support Cassie by urging her to leave, which led to Combs allegedly threatening them, saying: “Y’all b****es don’t get in my relationship,” “Just make money and shut the f**k up,” and “You b****es want to die today?”

As for the abuse she allegedly suffered, Richard claims Combs forced her to rehearse for 48 hours without sleep, causing her to lose a substantial amount of weight and develop rashes all over her body. From 2009 to 2011, Dawn also alleges Combs sexually assaulted her numerous times, touching her near her breasts and butt while she was undressed in a changing room.

“Mr. Combs frequently smacked Ms. Richard’s bare buttocks and often commented on her body, noting that although she was ‘too skinny,’ she had an ‘a**’” the lawsuit reads.

In her lawsuit, Dawn Richard is seeking compensatory damages; a monetary judgment for mental pain, anguish, and emotional distress; punitive and exemplary damages; and for him to cover her attorneys’ fees.

Of course, this is just one of several lawsuits Combs is currently facing.

The Bad Boy founder settled Ventura’s rape and abuse lawsuit against him just one day after she filed it in Nov. 2023.

Months later, video surveillance of Diddy brutally attacking Cassie in a hotel in 2016 was released to the public. At the time, he issued an apology but claimed the incident was out of the ordinary.

Watchparty for presidential debate in Charlotte

Source: Anadolu / Getty

The 2024 Presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump was everything it was billed to be during the lead-up. Vice President Harris shook off some early nerves and settled into a self-assured and unyielding performance that even had the righties on Fox News singing her political praises.

While it’s fair to give VP Harris her propers for preparing to prevent poor performance, her pugnacious path to prevailing over the pernicious former president was due, in part, to his complete inability to stay disciplined and state legitimate fact. The post-debate fact-checking revealed several instances where The Orangeman and Truth were divorced with irreconcilable differences.

The biggest and most viral lie that The Orangeman told last night was about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio who have been accused by conservatives of kidnapping and eating the pets of residents. This has never happened and was fact-checked in real-time by ABC’s David Muir.

Another head-scratching lie that Trump told was about abortion and the bat s#!t crazy idea that Democrats and VP Harris support fetal termination in the ninth month and after birth. First and foremost, killing a child that has been born is murder, infanticide to be specific. It is illegal in every state in America. Regarding the timeline of when a vast majority of legal abortions happen, here is the fact via The Guardian:

Fewer than 1% of abortions are performed past 21 weeks of pregnancy; when these abortions do take place, they often occur in medical emergencies or cases of fetal anomalies.

Moreover, PolitiFact notes that the Governor of West Virginia never said he would sanction a ninth-month abortion. Here’s what he did say:

Former Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, a Democrat and a physician, never said he would sanction the execution of newborns. What he did say during a 2019 radio interview is that in rare, late-pregnancy cases in which fetuses are nonviable, doctors deliver the baby, keep it comfortable, resuscitate it if the family wishes, and then have a “discussion” with the mother.

We could spend thousands of words writing about the blatant lies and exaggerations that Donald Trump tried to use to win the debate against his more educated, more qualified, more dignified opponent in Vice President Harris but as Kendrick Lamar so eloquently scribed, “The audience not dumb, shape the stories how you want, hey Drake, they’re not slow”.

Kanye West & Tyler The Creator - TOPSHOT-US-ENTERTAINMENT-MUSIC-WOF-STAR

Kanye West & Tyler The Creator – Source: VALERIE MACON / Getty

Kanye West recently held a live listening session for fans and according to Tyler The Creator, the rapper should’ve stopped holding back and put on a show.

One of the last times we saw Kanye West put on a true concert performance was for his “Free Larry Hoover” concert with special guest Drake. Since then he has adhered to the live listening session format he debuted for The Life Of Pablo alongside his Yeezy Season fashion show.

One of Kanye’s listening sessions recently went international with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign taking over Seoul, South Korea. Usually, Kanye doesn’t perform but at the two-hour mark, he decided to run through his classics with the fans.

As some would say the “old Kanye” was spotted in glimmers during the medley of hits.

This prompted Tyler The Creator to hop in the Instagram comments to tease Ye over his performance, or lack thereof.

“n*gga U was right there just say the words!!!!!!!!” Tyler jokingly commented.

In Kanye’s defense, he performed more during this latest listening session than we’ve seen in years.

Hopefully, Ye will get back to performing at some point while maintaining his mental health.

Tyrese Gibson is speaking his mind after a run-in with the law earlier this week.

Black Girls Rock! 2017 - Backstage & Audience

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty

The Fast and Furious star was arrested in Fulton County, GA on Monday, Sept. 9. His arrest comes after the judge overseeing his child support case found him in contempt of court, ordering the actor to pay $73,500 to avoid jail time.

According to reports from TMZ, Tyrese was to “be taken into custody and incarcerated” after he was found to be “in willful contempt for failure to make child support payments.” The judge’s decision came after a hearing was held because due to the actor’s ex-wife, Samantha Lee, making a motion that he be held in contempt after she claimed he was failing to make child support payments.

Together, Gibson and Lee share 5-year-old daughter Soraya. The actor and musician is also dad to daughter Shayla, 17, with ex-wife Norma Mitchell.

The judge ordered that Gibson only be released from custody after he “purges himself of contempt” by paying $73,500 to Fulton County officials, but he was released from custody on Monday after his attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham, filed an appeal of the judge’s ruling.

Following his arrest, Tyrese opened up to PEOPLE about the incident, claiming the judge overseeing the child support dispute “hates my guts.”

He “hates my guts,” Gibson began. “He wants to assert his power and he doesn’t care who’s watching.”

“It’s unbearable being in court with him,” he continued.

The actor also spoke on his arrest on social media on Tuesday, taking to his Instagram Story to insist, once again, that the judge has something personal against him.

“Getting arrested wasn’t easy…As a matter of fact it was very traumatic,” Tyrese said. “One would ask why does this judge…and my ex Samantha…HATE ME SO MUCH?”

“I am dad. And you know why I’m dad? Not because of what I bought them, not because of the clothes, not because of the square footage of the house, not because of the cars in the driveway and definitely not because of this fake jewelry I wear,” Gibson continued. “I’m a father because that exchange between your son or your daughter is nothing that can be purchased.”

The actor went on to post a series of pictures of him and his daughters on Instagram, writing, “The love that a father can have for his children can’t quite be explained……. Whatever the outcome is today…… I am and will forever be their FATHER.”
