Apryl Jones

Apryl Jones is often ruffling feathers online when it comes to anything related to her personal relationships and parenting, and you can add this latest incident to the list. The reality star came under fire after a recent clip of her engaging with followers on Instagram live made its rounds around the internet.

People were talking less about Apryl’s living room dance skills that day and more about what her kids were doing in the background.

Would YOU be bothered by this clip? Many people were.

The Shaderoom shared a snippet of the Livestream where Apryl dances her heart out to afrobeats music. In the background, you can see her kids using their leg muscles to climb her dance pole. Her son climbed the highest, almost reaching the ceiling before Apryl asked him to get down.Comments came pouring in like, “this doesn’t sit right with my spirit”, and “When Omarion have the kids they meditating and planting trees when Apryl have them she twerking for the gram while they on the pole.”

Does Apryl deserve the backlash she’s getting?

Elijah McClain Press Conference

Source: Andy Cross / Getty

Elijah McClain lost his life at the hands of police violence last August and now the nation is demanding justice.

On August 24, 2019, Elijah was walking home from a convenience store when Aurora police used excessive force to confront him, after receiving a phone call about a young man in a ski mask who looked suspicious. Elijah was not armed, committed no crime, and had anemia, which sometimes made his face feel cold.

Following the incident, the Sentinel Colorado stated:

“McClain told officers: ‘Let me go. I am an introvert, please respect my boundaries that I am speaking.’ While attempting to move McClain, officers said he attempted to grab one of their holstered guns. They then took him to the ground ‘as quickly as possible,’ per [District Attorney Dave] Young’s report. Throughout the interaction, officers tell McClain to ‘Stop tensing up, dude’ and ‘Chill out.’”

The site continued:

“Upon pinning McClain to the ground on a nearby lawn, Rosenblatt attempted to apply a ‘carotid control hold’ on McClain before eventually backing off. From a different vantage point, Woodyard then successfully placed McClain into the specialized control hold, pressing against McClain’s neck artery until he briefly fainted. McClain proceeds to repeatedly vomit and sob while handcuffed. At one point, an officer tells McClain: ‘If you keep messing around, I’m going to bring my dog out and he’s going to dog bite you, you understand me?’”

The officers involved — Nathan Woodyard, Jason Rosenblatt and Randy Roedema — were placed on administrative leave after the incident, then restored to normal duty.

“Based on the investigation presented and the applicable Colorado law, there is no reasonable likelihood of success of proving any state crimes beyond a reasonable doubt at trial,” Young said in his letter to Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz, according to the Sentinel Colorado. “Therefore, no state criminal charges will be filed as a result of this incident.”

“While being restrained by police, Aurora Fire Rescue Medic Jeremy Cooper administered McClain 500 milligrams of ketamine in an effort to sedate him,” the site added. Elijah was already unconscious at the time.

Now, people around the nation have renewed the fight for justice in Elijah’s case by way of a Change.org petition that has garnered millions of signatures. “Sign this petition to bring justice for Elijah. Demand these officers are taken off duty, and that a more in-depth investigation is held,” the latter part of the petition’s description reads.

Sign here and check out this bittersweet clip of Elijah below. We are praying for his loved ones at this time. May he rest in peace.

Hurricane Chris Visits MTV's "TRL" - October 23, 2007

“A Bay Bay” rapper Hurricane Chris has been arrested for killing a man at a gas station in Louisiana.

The rapper whose government name is Christopher Dooley Jr. killed the man Friday in Shreveport, claiming there was a struggle for his car — at least that’s what he told the police according to TMZ. Shreveport Police say that they found a surveillance video of the killing that paints a different picture, subsequently resulting in Dooley’s arrest. The millennial rapper was popped and charged with second-degree murder.

Police also reportedly found out that the ride Chris was protecting was actually reported stolen in Texas. He was also charged with illegal possession of the stolen vehicle.

Hurricane Chris is originally from Shreveport, Lousiana.  The rapper is best known for his 2007 album “51/50 Ratchet” which includes his hit single, “A Bay Bay” and his follow up hit “Halle Berry”.

A Tub Full Of Blood Suggests A Tragic Event, Probably A Suicide.

Shana Donahue, a 26-year-old who created natural hair tutorials under the moniker ‘Napp Queen”, was tragically killed on May 22nd and her ex-boyfriend Daniel Fleetwood has been arrested and charged in connection with her death. According to statements the ex made to detectives, the couple was stabbing each other in a domestic fight when he killed her.

“Once I killed her I came alive,”  he said in the documents released by detectives. Fleetwood claimed to police that Donahue had stabbed him first with a pair of scissors,

[embedded content]

Phillip Donahue, Shana’s father, tells WP that the couple who dated since high school “loved each other” but that his daughter broke up with Fleetwood about two years ago. Then, about a month ago, they got back together, and Fleetwood moved in with his daughter.

“She was a good soul. A good soul. I don’t know what could have caused him to do this,” according to her father.

The lawyer for Donahue’s ex, Matthew Davies argued that Fleetwood, who did not have any prior arrests or convictions, had acted in self-defense and should be released from custody. “This was a domestic situation that clearly really got out of hand,” Davies argued. The judge has ordered that Fleetwood be held in the D.C. jail until his next hearing in July.

Condola aka Condolences aka Condensation aka Canola Oil aka Condominium aka Cambodia aka Controlla aka Crayola seemed like such a nice lady at the very beginning of Season 4 before evolving into a villainous mood-killer who sabotaged Issa & Lawrence’s dreamy reconnection with her upsetting pregnancy reveal in the finale.

This comes just a few episodes after she ghosted Issa after breaking up with Lawrence in a genuinely CHILDISH sequence of events that helped cement her status as the most HATED character in “Insecure” history who we very well might be stuck with next season.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s son, Adam, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest came after an incident where he allegedly stabbed one of his neighbors multiple times in San Clemente, California.

TMZ Sports broke the story early Friday morning, but the incident happened earlier in the week, and Adam has since been released from custody. Police received a call around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night as the victim of the stabbing took themselves to the local hospital with multiple non-life-threatening wounds.

“The suspect, who is the neighbor of the victim, was arrested without incident,” a police spokesperson told TMZ.

An investigation into the matter has been opened. Multiple attempts have been made to contact Adam and his father, Kareem, but all efforts have been in vain.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar has been highly decorated for his efforts toward social justice throughout his year. Abdul-Jabbar, born Lew Alcindor, converted to the Nation of Islam in 1971. As recent as 2016, Abdul-Jabbar was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by outgoing U.S. President Barack Obama.

In a recent oped, Abdul-Jabber was quick to note how important it is for Black people to march the streets in protest, despite the naysayers and those critical of the looting.

“So, maybe the black community’s main concern right now isn’t whether protesters are standing three or six feet apart or whether a few desperate souls steal some T-shirts or even set a police station on fire, but whether their sons, husbands, brothers, and fathers will be murdered by cops or wannabe cops just for going on a walk, a jog, a drive,” he wrote in the LA Times. Or whether being black means sheltering at home for the rest of their lives because the racism virus infecting the country is more deadly than COVID-19.”

Derek Chauvin

Source: SplashNews / Splash News

Bacon boy Derek Chauvin’s first initial court appearance included a bail increase. The former cop who killed George Floyd and sparked worldwide protests with one ashy, unwashed knee and an unauthorized license to kill, appeared before a judge via video feed while handcuffed at the Hennepin County Jail. The Star Tribune reports that Chauvin’s bail was raised by $250,000 to $1.25 million Monday afternoon.

The reason for the increase was in part because prosecutor Matthew Frank argued that the “severity of the charges” and the strength of public opinion against Chauvin “made him a more likely flight risk.”
The Star Tribune reports that neither the former officer who squeezed the life out of George Floyd nor his lawyer objected to the bail increase.

Conditions of Chauvin’s bail include that he has no contact with the Floyd family, that he not work in law enforcement or security, that he surrender any firearms and licenses to carry, that he remains in Minnesota under court supervision, and that he sign a waiver of extradition upon his release.

Why he’s even UP for bail is beyond us, but we’ll just leave it alone—–for now.

His next court appearance will be June 29.

Michael Jordan and The Jordan Brand have announced a $100,000,000 donation over the next decade to “drive real impact for the Black community.”

In an official statement posted to Nike.com, Jordan Brand pledged its support to Black lives by way of its Jordan Wing program. Here’s the full announcement:

“Jordan Brand is us, the Black Community. Jordan Brand is more than one man. It has always been a family. We represent a proud family that has overcome obstacles, fought against discrimination in communities worldwide and that works every day to erase the stain of racism and the damage of injustice.  The will, the work, the excellence the world has come to know is the result of one generation after another, pouring their dreams into the next. It’s 2020, and our family now includes anyone who aspires to our way of life. Yet as much as things have changed, the worst remains the same. Black lives matter. This isn’t a controversial statement. Until the ingrained racism that allows our country’s institutions to fail is completely eradicated, we will remain committed to protecting and improving the lives of Black people. Today, we are announcing that Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand will be donating $100 million over the next 10 years to organizations dedicated to ensuring racial equality, social justice and greater access to education.”

Craig Williams, President of Jordan Brand adds: “Through our Jordan Wings Program, we have been focused on providing access to education, mentorship and opportunity for Black youth facing the obstacles of systemic racism. But we know we can do more. In addition to the investment from NIKE Inc., we are announcing a joint commitment from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand to donate $100 million over the next 10 years. We must join forces with the community, government and civic leaders to create a lasting impact together. “There is still more work for us to do to drive real impact for the Black Community. We embrace the responsibility.”

We are proud to see everyone coming together to effect real change for the Black community at this time. Let’s keep this momentum.

New Balance is joining other corporations who are donating to the #BlackLivesMatter cause.

Following a collective effort from Nike, Swoosh, Jordan Brand, and Converse, who together pledged $40 million to Black causes over the next four years, New Balance has announced it will donate shoes. In honor of Ahmaud Arbery, who was gunned down by three white men while jogging in Georgia, the footwear company decided to donate a total of 10,000 pairs of running shoes.

“Today, running takes on a new meaning for the global community. When you go out for a run to train, to better yourself, or just to clear your head join us in saying his name: AHMAUD ARBERY” New Balance began. “No one in the Black community should fear for their lives while running. In Ahmaud Arbery’s name, we will be donating 10,000 pairs of shoes to Black community-based programs in the Atlanta area.”

In case you missed it, the three men who killed Ahmaud were due in court for a probable cause hearing yesterday, during which many new and horrific details came to light. Click HERE for those updates. May Ahmaud, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and the countless others who’ve been taken by racism, systemic oppression, and police violence rest in peace.

Some people will never be able to grow beyond their ignorance — and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees seems to be one of those empty-minded, unenlightened, backward *ss people. Fortunately, we’ve got big names like LeBron James to put him in his place.

When asked by Yahoo’s On The Move how he felt about Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling protests making a return when the new NFL season begins, Brees responded: “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.”

He went on to say that the anthem is really important to him because his two grandfathers served in the military.  “Is everything right with our country right now? No, it’s not,” Brees added. “We still have a long away to go. But, I think what you do by standing there and showing respect for the flag with your hand over your heart, is it shows unity.”

LeBron, Richard Sherman, and more lit him up.

“WOW MAN!! Is it still surprising at this point. Sure isn’t! You literally still don’t understand why Kap was kneeling on knee?? Has absolute nothing to do with the disrespect of [the American flag] and our soldiers (me and women) who keep our land free. My father-in-law was one of those men who fought as well for this country. I asked him questions about it and thank him all the time for his commitment. He never found Kap’s peaceful protest offensive because he and I both know what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong! God bless you,” LeBron tweeted.

See Sherman and Doug Baldwin’s reactions below. Jesus, fix it.
