Round of applause for our good Barbados sis, Rihanna, on securing $125 million in new funding from investors to fuel Savage X Fenty’s ongoing expansion into brick-and-mortar retail.

Bringing in this bag raises the lingerie line to $310 million. According to the New York Post, investment firm Neuberger Berman led the fundraising round. Other investors include L Catteron, the private equity firm backed by LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, as well as Marcy Venture Partners, a firm co-founded by Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, the Associated Press reported.

It’s no surprise that Savage X Fenty has taken off and reached the level of success that it has. Since launching in 2018, Savage X Fenty has delivered an annual entertaining and dynamic fashion show airing on Amazon Prime.

A lot of fans aren’t too happy with Robyn Fenty focusing all her attention on other business ventures outside of music, but the dedication and determination is paying off significantly for Rihanna.

Ms. Fenty has a personal net worth of $1.7 billion. She ranks second only to Oprah Winfrey among the word’s richest female entertainers, per Forbes.

Staying on the topic of money, Rihanna holds a 50 percent stake in the cosmetics line Fenty Beauty. The brand earned more than $550 million in revenue in 2020.

Savage X Fenty also has heavy hitter investors backing them up! One of them being Abu Dhabi-based Multiply Group, which contributed $25 million, as well as the Abu Dhabi Growth Fund.

Just recently the company opened its first-ever store on the Las Vegas Strip and the money from investors are expected to support Savage X Fenty’s ambitions for a retail empire. The funds will also help the brand expand internationally and add to the assortment with products such as loungewear, swimwear, shapewear, home and unisex underwear and other categories.

Outside of Vegas, Savage X Fenty will open stores in Los Angeles, Houston, Philadelphia and Virginia within the first three months of 2022.

“We’ll start with a limited amount of stores,” Savage X Fenty co-president Christiane Pendarvis told the outlet. “It will represent a small percentage of our business. This is about making sure we’re getting the right formula and assortment mix in stores.

“These are things that we’re looking for on our road map to help us drive growth in the next several years,” Pendarvis said during this month’s conference. “And then there are additional reaches [in other countries around the world] that we just have not tapped into yet, at all, which is really expanding into the balance of Eastern Europe, as well as China. When you think about the opportunity behind retail and what that’s going to open up for us, as well as category expansion opportunity, as well as geography expansion opportunity, that pathway is very, very clear for us to continue to deliver very, very strong growth over the next several years. So the future looks savage and we are just getting started.”

Just about anything Rihanna touches turns into gold so we’re sure her stores will be more than successful as she and all her businesses continue to grow.

British Vogue is taking some heat for publishing a historic cover.

The publication has been trending in recent days for celebrating the rise of African models in its February 2022 cover that features nine black women who are “redefining what it means to be a model.”

Starring models Adut Akech, Amar Akway, Majesty Amare, Akon Changkou, Maty Fall, Janet Jumbo, Abény Nhial, Nyagua Ruea, and Anok Yai, the stunning cover was styled by British Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief Edward Enninful OBE.

This is Vogue’s first time featuring a group of black women this size on the cover, and while many including Lupita Nyong’o have sent praises British Vogue’s way…

a few others have criticized the creative team for “catering” to the “white gaze.”

Outside of February being recognized as Black History Month, it’s also fashion month, and what better time than to publish a cover like this one?

Vogue appointed Mr. Enninful editor of British Vogue in 2017, taking over from Alexandra Shulman, after the publication was criticized for a lack of diversity, and promptly assembled a woke squad of 15 women to bring diversity into editions across Europe.

It seems like Enninful is doing his job and making the fashion industry a little more inclusive.

However, not everyone feels this way and Enninful has received backlash online, with dozens of fans saying the “poorly lit” image appeared to darken the models, who have a range of skin tones to a point where they were unrecognizable and look like mannequins.

Here are the ladies behind the scenes at the shoot.

One user online wrote, “Look I am a fan of British Vogue since Mr Enninful became EIC but I’m honestly not sure why this cover is not well-lit and why the models are made to be mannequinn-esque and we lose their features and beauty.”

While another user said, “I don’t care, I don’t care. You took the most beautiful women on the planet and made sure we couldn’t see them on an issue about visibility? @BritishVogue, shaking my head.”

When explaining the inspiration behind the shoot Edward said, “I saw all these incredible models from across Africa who were just so vivacious and smart.”

He continued, “These girls are redefining what it is to be a fashion model. We need to ensure these girls last. We have to invest in them, nurture them and support them with editorial, with advertising, with shows. It’s sad and heart-breaking for me to see girls who are on the rise suddenly taper off. We need to ensure these girls last. We have to invest in them, nurture them and support them with editorial, with advertising, with shows. It has to be 360. Alek Wek didn’t suddenly become Alek Wek. There was a group of us behind girls like her, propelling them forward. This is what we have to do in all our different roles. There was a group of us behind girls like her, propelling them forward. This is what we have to do in all our different roles.”

South Sudan comedian, Akau Jambo, weighed in on the topic and went more into depth about her disappointment in the British Vogue February Issue.

“I am South Sudanese. I have lived here probably longer than these models and I can assure you that there is nobody moving around looking like this. As an artist, I can also assure you that this is not art. This is Black Skin Porn. Black Fetish. Reverse Bleaching.”

Akau’s tweets prompted Model Iwani Mawocha to weigh in on her experience when shooting with Vogue. She also explained that this current aesthetic in fashion is nothing new.

Is it a trend? Is it art? Perhaps a fetish, only time will truly tell.

What are your thoughts on the cover? Do you love it or hate it? Let us know below!

We’re sure you’ve seen the memes of Steve Harvey and his latest fashion ensembles trending online lately! Everyone wants to know who’s responsible for Steve Harvey’s new drip!

Could it be his wife, Majorie Harvey? How about Steve Harvey himself? Or maybe it’s his baby girl, Lori Harvey!

The world wants to know and SKN by LH, CEO, Lori Harvey sat down with Daily Pop to reveal the answer. According to the 24-year-old model herself, her father’s elevated look has been inspired by fashion stylist Elly Karamoh.

“I would like to take credit, but he actually has my best friend as a stylist, Elly Karamoh,” Lori explained. “He has completely transformed him, he’s like a new style icon. He’s feeling himself. You can’t tell him anything right now.”

Elly has taken Steve Harvey from baggy suits to slim-fit runway tuxedos, leather pants, and monochromatic hot pink suits. His latest looks have gone viral making Steve a soon to be fashion icon.

While Lori can’t take credit for Steve Harvey’s new fashion sense she can take credit for his glowing skin! The comedian’s youngest daughter just launched her new skincare line, SKN by LH.

“I’ve honestly been obsessed with skincare since I was a little girl,” Lori said on E! News’ Daily Pop. “Watching my mom do her skincare tutorials in the mirror, I was like, okay, I want to emulate that. I want to get glowing skin. She continued, “So as I got older, trying out different products trying to figure out what worked with my skin—I have extremely sensitive skin so a lot of the products I was using were honestly making my skin so much worse—and I decided, you know what, I think I want to give this a try. I think I can come out with a great skincare line. And SKN by LH was born.”

Her father and boyfriend, Michael B. Jordan, have served as test subjects for Lori to develop the best products for future consumers.

“He [Steve Harvey] always gives me unsolicited advice, but he gives me great business advice,” Lori explained. “He’s an incredible businessman so he’s been extremely helpful as I’ve been on this new business venture.”

In the summer of 2014, she started by releasing a small collection of six dresses and sold them online. After experiencing initial hardships, the line has since grown to a successful brand with an online and brick-and-mortar presence and has been worn by celebrities from Summer Walker to Saweetie to name a few.

We can’t forget to mention that her brand also graced the digital cover of ESSENCE Girls United for a feature on the viral UCLA Gymnasts. Black girl magic at its finest!

This rise to success hasn’t always been smooth for Maxie J, however, and she recently broke her silence this summer when calling out embattled fashion designer Michael Costello. Maxie J alleged that Costello called her a “Black n***er b***”, not on social media but in person at a fabric store. Not only that, but Maxie alleged that she “whooped Costello’s a**” and almost went to jail for the incident. Clearly, she is not the one to be played with.

Ellaè Lisquè’s newest collection is meant for women to know they can dress sexy and demand attention through their clothing while still being tasteful.

“Living By Design With Jake And Jazz” Is A New Interior Design Show For Millennials

Siblings Jake and Jazz Smollett have teamed up to transform the homes of millennials for their new show “Living By Design With Jake And Jazz.”

The new show on network CLEO TV pairs the siblings with mostly millennial women of color who are in need of a style revamp in their homes. The Smolletts’ tap into their shared interest in interior design and cooking on the show, first redesigning the subject’s space and then making a meal with them.

“‘Living By Design’ has been such a fun project to work on,” Jazz said. “ It encompasses design and food, which is both of our passions…It’s not a cookie cutter redesign of their space. It’s functional and cute at the same time.”

The Smolletts, whose handlers told us they did not want to discuss their brother, Jussie being accused of staging a hate crime attack, insisted that you can design your home beautifully without spending a lot of money.

“You don’t have to break the bank to reflect you and make it feel like home,” Jazz said. “We do a lot of online thrifting. You can find stuff that you can repurpose.”

Jake said that small tweaks like shifting furniture around and putting money towards bigger pieces can go a long way towards creating a chic interior design.

“You can always refurbish a place for next to nothing if you are willing to go get a can of paint and an extra knob,” he said.

Retailer’s Lingerie Collection Is For Women Of All Complexions

E-commerce retailer LIVELY has debuted a line of lingerie that celebrates diversity of shape and skin tone.

The new “Go Nude” collection comes in five skin-mimicking shades that were picked by the brand’s more than 70,000 strong online community, with bra sizes that go up to 44DDD/46DD.

“We took inspiration from athleisure and combine it with the functionality of lingerie,” Michelle Cordeiro Grant, founder & CEO of LIVELY told BOSSIP. “We believe we are the bridge between high style and ultimate comfort.”

All of the line’s bras are $35, and the panties are $10, Grant said.

The former retail executive said she decided to start LIVELY after noticing a void in the lingerie industry for inclusive styles that she’d want her own daughter to wear – and added that the bras were great for new moms.

“How do we start to embrace our uniqueness as opposed to aspiring to be a supermodel and constantly feeling disappointed in ourselves?” Grant said she asked herself while conceiving LIVELY.

Besides lingerie, LIVELY sells swimwear and has a new loungewear line dropping this month.
