Back in the day, being gay was a taboo topic within hip hop. Although there is definitely more work to be done, these artists are unapologetically living their authentic lives. For example, back in 2017, Chance The Rapper‘s brother, Taylor Bennett, set his soul free by revealing via Twitter that he identifies as bisexual — just before his 21st birthday. Chance also took to social media to congratulate his little brother on his courage.

From Taylor to Young M.A. these rappers are making the bold move to be who they are, despite haters. In honor of LGBT Pride Month, check out these eight rappers who are openly LGBT and proud.

It’s no secret that there’s a huge disconnect between 90’s babies and kids born in the 2000’s.  Would you believe that the 2019 NBA draft picks (who were born between 1999-2000) had no idea who Outkast and Destiny’s Child were?

If you didn’t think you were getting old, millennials — that video is full proof.

You may think you’re still one of the youngins’, but when a kid asks you what a floppy disk is, it becomes more apparent that they are brand new to the planet and have no idea about the struggle of only being able to save 1.44 megabytes of information.

Technology is moving fast and pretty soon, kids won’t even remember what an iPod is— remember those? Here are 10 struggles that kids today don’t have to deal with at all.

At just three years old, North West is already a staple in modern-day pop culture. The first heir to the Kardashian-West throne is growing up in a time when social media is a primary source of communication (especially in the family she comes from). Surprisingly, little Northie wasn’t always a fan of social networks.

Kim Kardashian revealed that her little toddler was once afraid of Snapchat and its various features. Kim tried to break her daughter’s paralyzing fear of the app by putting her on there more and more, and surprisingly, it worked.

Let’s face it — anyone who was popping before the Internet blew up is like ancient history to some of the kids growing up today. It’s almost like the world as a whole started over once Youtube and social media became a thing, making all the artist who put in work before that feel like dinosaurs.

Missy Misdemeanor Elliott was way ahead of her time when it came to production, melodies and spitting bars. She could rap without a ghostwriter, produce without loops, sing an R&B ballad  and give you extraterrestrial videos at the same damn time. Miss E. can make an entire song rapping backward and it’ll top the charts. She’s your faves fave.

On Friday, she made history as the the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. And it’s about damn time!

Missy is proof that it’s hard to be a lion amongst sheep. But fortunately for her, there’s a whole generation of young folks who appreciate her contributions to music and will not let the world forget it.

These days, the legend is looking good and living better. But just in case you forgot about her healthy resume, hit the flip to refresh your memory.

Wu-Tang Clan Becomes First Rap Act To Headline Ryman Auditorium

Wu-Tang Clan is continuing to take over all media sites and venues, with appearances in places you might least expect them.

Most recently, they headlined the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, which is usually reserved for more country acts, church revivals and boxing matches, according to NPR.

Ever since they opened in 1892, Ryman has hosted everyone from Johnny Cash to Helen Keller to Harry Houdini.

But never a hip hop act…

Until now.

On June 9, Wu-Tang played a sold-out show at the theater nicknamed “The Mother Church of Country Music.” The performance was apart of their international tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Enter the Wu-Tang album.

“This isn’t your grandparents’ Ryman,” says Shannon Sanders, a record producer and Grammy-winning musician. In the 80s, Sanders was apart of one of Nashville’s first hip hop groups, and he says the hip hop scene there has often lived in the shadow of country: “It’s just been hard to be part of the narrative of the city’s musical story.”

Now, Sanders says listeners have diversified their tastes, going from country to rock to hip hop.

“You know, the Ryman has had to grow up too, and had to grow up into what the city is,” Sanders says. “You know, the Wu-Tang is ready for the Ryman, but also the Ryman is ready for the Wu-Tang.”

Based on the crowd, it was definitely a night to remember.
