Some big news has been announced if you like your superheroes packaged like a young adult fantasy novel. Tom Welling is reprising his role as Clark Kent in the upcoming CW Arrowverse crossover!

Welling originally took on the role of Superman’s alter ego in the hit show Smallville, which premiered in 2001 on The WB then continued on The CW. The series went on for ten season, eventually ending in 2011.

Since then, Welling has been in and out of the spotlight until finally settling on a reoccurring role on Fox’s show Lucifer in 2017. Now, according to Deadline, Welling will return to the farm boy charm of Clark Kent by taking on the character in a crossover event on The CW.

The Arrowverse — which includes shows centered around DC Comics characters like Green Arrow, Supergirl and The Flash — has brought major success to the CW. Every now and then, the characters from each show intersect for an epic multi-episode storyline. In this upcoming season, the most anticipated crossover will be “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which is based on the comic series where DC superheroes from multiple universes go against the villain Anti-Monitor.

The Arrowverse producers are planning to feature multiple versions of Superman in different time periods and recruiting Tom Welling was a top priority.

“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville,” said Arrow co-creator/executive producer Marc Guggenheim. “Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”

Tyler Hoechlin, who already portrays Superman in the Arrowverse show Supergirl, will be a second Superman in the crossover. Brandon Routh, who now plays the Arrowverse character The Atom on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, will also reprise his Superman role after playing the character in the 2006 movie Superman Returns.

It’s not clear yet if Welling will actually put on the red and blue tights, but either way, the crossover should be epic.

Until it arrives in December, check out five images of a new, grey-haired Tom Welling below that’ll have you fully prepared for a silver fox Superman.

FoodGod Talks O.J Simpson, Corey Vs Scott & More On ‘Food God: OMG’

The Kardashians have been a wide open book for the pas 12 years, but even for them some things are off limits. Like the family’s interactions with O.J. Simpson, a former friend of the family and client of the father, the late Robert Kardashian. But clearly, we can always count on Kim‘s BFF Jonathan Cheban to get all the never before heard stories out of Mrs. West. On the latest episode of his podcast FoodGod: OMFG, Cheban opened up about his recent run-in with Simpson, which got Kim to recall her last encounter with “The Juice” that left her pretty emotional. FoodGod shared,

“The first thing he asks is about you guys, like, ‘How are the girls? How’s everybody?’ Like, have you seen him ever?”

Kim replied,

“I think the last time I saw him was in Miami. It was before he had gone to jail this, you know, last situation. I think me, Kourtney [Kardashian] and Khloé [Kardashian] were in Miami in a club and we ran into him in the VIP section. It was behind a stage or something, I don’t even know what club it was at. I started crying. It was emotional, I think.”

But the tea spilling didn’t stop there. Next week’s episode of KUWTK shows Kris Jenner’s boo Corey Gamble and Scott Disick get into a heated argument at Jonathan’s birthday dinner in L.A. And according to FoodGod, ish got real:

“I’ve seen a lot of stuff on the Kardashians and been like ‘Wow, that’s not gonna air, cause it’s crazy!’ My birthday party, NOBU Malibu, Scott and Corey get into a psychotic fight that is so intense and crazy I didn’t think they were gonna air it. I’m telling you, out of all the stuff I’ve ever seen, this was the craziest thing I’ve seen on the show. This happened after my cake.

Also, remember when the Internet was in a frenzy last week over Kim and Jonathan having dinner with Khloe’s baby daddy Tristan “Third Trimester” Thompson? Well according to the FoodGod, they in fact did meet up with the Cavalier in NYC. Not only that — Jonathan actually wants Khloe and Tristan to get back together.  Oop!

*Mild spoilers*

Hustlers has only been out for one weekend and already it’s receiving critical acclaim and setting box office records. Some folks are even predicting a gold statue for Jennifer Lopez.

The movie follows a group of strippers over the course of several years who experience the highs and lows of their profession with their biggest low being the 2008 financial crisis. Because most of their clients were Wall Steet professionals, their jobs tank along with the men in suits. Thus, the women in the movie have to resort to extreme, sometimes illegal measures to earn money.

The movie, which is based on the New York magazine article “The Hustlers At Scores,” stars Lopez as Ramona, a boss stripper who rallies the other ladies to make as much money as possible. The movie explores Ramona’s relationship with Constance Wu‘s character Destiny, who seeks guidance from Ramona in the stripper world while also caring for her elderly grandmother back home. Eventually, Ramona and Destiny’s relationship is challenged in a way that pits the two against each other in some well-played drama.

While the whole cast — which includes Keke Palmer, Cadi B, and Lizzo — deserves praise for their performances, J.Lo is getting the most attention for Oscar buzz. RogerEbert.com said J.Lo gave a “career-best performance” while The Hollywood Reporter wrote Lopez is “poised to land her first Oscar nom.”

So the only question remains, is J.Lo’s performance worth the hype?

Yes.

Is it Oscar-worthy?

That depends on who you ask.

J.Lo was never a terrible actress, but her name was never really associated with critical acclaim either. Although she is to be commended for her multifaceted career in entertainment, recently J. Lo has had a few so-so rom-coms and television shows like Shades of Blue. Even J.Lo’s most solid performances risked being glossed over because of bad writing or weak character development.

However, with Hustlers, it’s quite possible J.Lo found a character made for her talents. Ramona was sexy and confident but also vulnerable at times and forceful when needed. The movie definitely shows J.Lo’s range as an actress and because the character was so central to the plot, J.Lo couldn’t help but shine.

Whether J.Lo’s performance is Oscar-worthy comes down to taste. If you like strong, powerhouse performances, this might not be it for you. If you like subtlety, this movie also might not be it. But if you like that middle sweet spot where the actress understands her character and great writing supports the final product, then J.Lo’s turn as Ramona might be right for you.

Considering the Academy tends to like that balance of powerhouse lead performances and a megastar’s rendition of a nuanced role, it wouldn’t be a surprise if J.Lo gets the nod.

We can only wait and find out if future competition risks taking the gold away from her.

Over the past five years or so, it seems as if Hollywood has left their innovative ideas behind in favor of 1990’s remakes. From television to film, reboots have taken over the industry. It’s very rare to see original content by big budget studios these days.

Just a few months after Lion King, Aladdin and Shaft made the box office look like the late 90’s again, reports surface that Issa Rae is set to produce and possibly star in a ‘Set It Off’ remake. According to the Hollywood Reporter, producing with her will be Montrel McKay, Rae’s partner at Issa Rae Productions. But are fans of the 1996 film here for a remake?

As we’ve seen with Lion King, some remakes actually do big numbers at the box office. But less face it, some movies definitely should have been left alone. Hit the flip to see which film remakes were a hit and which were sadly a miss.

Can you believe it’s been a decade since Kid Cudi blessed our lives with his debut solo album Man On The Moon? The classic album, which turns 10 years old today, gave us mega hits like Pursuit Of Happiness & Day N Nite, and garnered Cudi a loyal fan base.

Some say that the culture shifting project opened the doors for artists to openly discuss their mental health.

Artists like Logic credit Cudi for altering the way he views music. In a recent article for Billboard, he revealed:

“He opened an entire world sonically for me. It completely reshaped how I wanted to make my music. It showed me that I don’t have to stick in the bubble and don’t necessarily [have to] flow with conformity.”

But who does someone as revered as Cudi look up to? He often credits Kanye West for seeing his vision early on, and Kanye apparently feels the about the rapper.

Amy makes a surprise appearance with Mark Ronson in 2010

Source: Samir Hussein / Getty

Wow! It’s really been eight whole years since, music fans woke up to the devastating news that their beloved Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home. Although the news was heartbreaking, it wasn’t extremely shocking due to Winehouse’s past issues with drugs and alcohol. Amy  had a successful music career in the UK for many years, but became a world-wide music sensation back in 2006 with the crossover hit “Rehab.” Now, she’s an unfortunate part of the “Forever 27” club, which is a group of music’s most influential artists that didn’t make it past the age of 27–including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain.

Although she’s not physically here, Amy’s dad Mitch claims that he talks to his daughter almost every night. He told The Sun:

“She’s in here now saying, “Just get on with it, Dad.” I’m always speaking to her, all day, every day.”

Amy’s voice was unmatchable and her legacy will continue on forever. Even with all the talented new superstars with powerhouse voices that we adore today, 99 percent of them don’t even come close to the UK native.

Happy Birthday, Amy. Check out our gallery of the lovely “Valerie” singer throughout the years.

Chrissy Teigen continues to prove herself as a formidable force against Trump and now she’s revealed that there’s a process to her insults.

The model and media personality recently went viral when she called Donald Trump a “pu**y a$$ bit**” on Twitter. The comment was a response to Trump referring to Teigen as John Legend‘s “filthy mouthed wife” when he was mad that he wasn’t getting enough credit for his criminal justice reform act. Trump tagged everyone in his whiny tweet except Teigen. This is when she responded:

“lol what a pu**y a$$ bit**. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.”

Receipts below.

Teigen and John Legend then went on to tag-team Trump with a flurry of tweets and eventually “PAB” and “pu**y a$$ bi**ch” started to trend on Twitter.

Apparently, a lot of thought went into Teigen’s and Legend’s insults. She went on Ellen recently and explained:

“We spent the entire rest of the night just sitting…next to each other handing each other our phone. ‘Should I say this? Should I say this? No. Should I say this? No. No, it has to be funnier. No, no ’cause we’re mad. Yeah we’re mad!’ [laughter] And it just went on all night.”

Tracee Ellis Ross Covers Essence Magazine Hair Issue

In the mag, Miss Ross: The Beauty Boss gushed about the new chapter in her life as the creator and founder of her very own Hair Care Company which celebrates the different curl patterns of naturalistas all over the globe.

“It’s called Pattern because it is about the magical patterns of our hair. I am launching a haircare line for curly, coily and tight, textured hair to empower people and meet the unmet needs of our community at a price point we can afford, because we know that we need a lot of product in all this hair.”

But just as the case is for most women of color, it was a long, hard journey for Tracee to embrace the beauty in her Blackness.

“It took me way longer than I wish it had. I’d catch glimpses of people who saw beauty in ways I had missed because of the blinders society gave me. Then one day I was watching a Nina Simone documentary and I thought: Wait. It should be her name next to the word “beauty.” Why was I sold the wrong vision? My heart knows that’s beauty.”

However, despite how long the journey to pride took, the Black-ish star has always been relatable and woke.

“A lot of people are awake right now, and thank God. I think I’m learning. I think I’m growing. There is a war that is happening, a fight for control over women’s bodies. Children in cages. Concentration camps in our country, right now. It keeps me up at night.”

We love of woke, inspiring CEO! Pattern Beauty Products are officially available for purchase at patternbeauty.com. Hit the flip for more Tracee Ellis Ross in Essence Magazine’s October Hair Issue.
