Georgia Woman Gets Death Penalty For Emani Moss Starvation Case

A Georgia woman who was found guilty of starving her stepdaughter has to face her fate. A jury sentenced 36-year-old Tiffany Moss to die by lethal injection after she was convicted for the death of 10-year-old Emani Moss.
NBC News reports that Tiffany is scheduled to be put to death between June 7 and 14, but that date is unlikely because of automatic case review and appeals.

The woman who was found guilty of murder, cruelty to children and concealing a murder remained calm as her sentence was read. She represented herself during the trial but never cross-examined witnesses and never offered a defense.

Prosecutors who pushed for the death penalty revealed details about Emani’s final hours and said Tiffany was nonchalant as the child wasted away, at one point casually cooking in the kitchen while the child starved.

“She died on Oct 29 alone in that bed, in her own filth and her own waste while her own brother ran around outside playing,” Gwinnett County Asst. District Attorney Lisa Jones said in closing arguments Monday morning.

“While this defendant sat watching TV and cooking lasagna, Emani died alone in a room while all that life was going on around her,” Jones said.

“Emani Moss lived with the evils of this world,” Jones added. “That child was nothing to her.”

Authorities found Emani’s burned body in a steel trash can and an autopsy found that she weighed only 32 pounds.

The girl’s father Eman Moss initially told authorities that his daughter died after consuming chemicals and so they tried to “cremate” her body. Later he told the real truth, that he came home and found his daughter not breathing, so he attempted CPR but did not call 911.

He claims Tiffany then told him to just burn the girl’s body and while he initially objected, he did it anyway. When he was asked why he didn’t call for help, he told prosecutors; “I’m not God.”

He’s currently serving a life sentence.

We’re praying for those still grieving little Emani, we hope this justice helps.

Michael Eric Dyson’s Grandson Threatened At School

Michael Eric Dyson is shedding light on a scary situation involving his grandson. The activist and author told Fox 5 D.C. that his six-year-old grandson was called the N-word and threatened at his elementary school in Northwest D.C.
According to Dyson, little Maxem Dyson was targeted by a fellow first-grader, a white boy, who said he’d “get his father’s gun.”

“He says, ‘I’m going to go home and get my father’s gun and come back and shoot you,’” said Dyson. Unfortunately, this represents for us the deep and abiding roots of white supremacy that are set loose in this country. How can a six-year-old kid know to call his classmate the N-word?”

Dyson and his family members are livid that the child was allowed to finish out the school day after the incident and has yet to face disciplinary action.

School officials say they acknowledge that the boy made a threat, however, they’re still determining if a racial slur was used. (SMFH)

D.C. Public Schools provided a statement to Fox 5 that read;

“DCPS is committed to maintaining safe and welcoming environments for students and staff. We will provide Mann the support it needs to adequately address this issue and continue to partner with our school communities to ensure meaningful learning and positive interactions occur within all of our school buildings.”

Bushwick Bill From Geto Boys Reveals Cancer Battle

Hip Hop fans — please pray for Bushwick Bill. According to TMZ reports the 52-year-old Geto Boys rapper says he was diagnosed in February with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy — but he tells TMZ it’s too early to know how his body is responding to treatment.

Sadly Bill says doctors had been testing a mass they believed to be benign for some time before they shocked him with the diagnosis. He had been keeping his diagnosis private and up until now had only informed close family members. Even fellow Geto Boys founders Scarface and Willie D were not aware of his medical issues.

This is so devastating. We pray he makes a full recovery.

NYPD Shows Recruitment Videos At Several Theaters Showing ‘Avengers: Endgame’

*Sigh*

Instead of recruiting culturally competent folks who have a deep understanding of the people and the histories of communities they serve…

Apparently, NYPD is trying to recruit folks who are fans of the Avengers.

According to New York Daily News, the department is showing a video promoting enrollment in their cadet program at theaters screening the blockbuster hit Avengers: Endgame.

The video will air for eight weeks at six movie theaters showing Endgame, including two theaters in Manhattan, and one in each of the outer boroughs.

“It’s not an internship. It’s not a part-time job. It’s not a temp gig. It’s the beginning of a rewarding career with the New York City Police Department,” the minute-long clip says. 

The department recruits college students as NYPD cadets and they get paid for their time along with up to $20,000 in tuition assistance. Most of them ultimately join the NYPD and become cops. The NYPD says typical Avengers fans, young and diverse, would be perfect cadets and police officers.

*Sigh*

Great, another George Zimmerman-esque officer who thinks they’re Captain America, saving the world and defending property.
