Amiyah Scott Covers Rolling Out

Amiyah Scott is covering Rolling Out magazine and giving insight into her life. Scott, a beautiful and proud transgender woman, stars as Cotton on Fox’s “STAR” looked picture perfect for her cover that carried an old Hollywood glam theme.

The beauty who’s releasing her book “Memoirs of a Mermaid” on May 27 told RollingOut about her transition, dating and the unfortunate suicide of Nigel Shelby.

On Nigel Shelby:

“Heartbroken. This is an all-too-familiar story. Bullying is unacceptable in all instances. Even with so much progression in the LGBTQIA community, we still face stigma and danger. I am devastated by Nigel’s passing and even more at the many crimes committed against members of the community.”

On if she’s married:

“I heard that. No, I’m single. Right now, my focus is on my career and working hard. Sometimes relationships can be a distraction. You never really know when you are ready or when you will meet the right person, but right now I’m “single single.”

On her surgery:

“My parents were supportive, and I was lucky to have parents that were. I had my surgery at 17, but I wish could’ve had it sooner. It just solidified who I always knew that I was. For me, nothing changed except for the parts on my body. How I felt was the same, how I looked to myself remained the same.”

Amiyah Scott

On trans women and trans men honesty:

“I believe you should always be honest. With that being said, I don’t think when you first meet someone that’s the right time to share my history with them. If a guy approaches me at a bar and asks me if I want a drink, I’m not going to say, ‘Yes, and by the way …,’ but I believe before things move to an intimate situation that everyone has a right to know, so I would tell them at an appropriate time.”

On dating:

“We date all types of men — gay, bisexual and straight men. Everyone loves us because we are women. There are high-profile men in every area that date trans women, rappers, athletes, actors, etcetera. For me, I wouldn’t ever be a part of trying to embarrass someone or put their business out in the public [domain] because the motivation behind that is usually negative. I’m not trying to be a part of anything like that. I’ve dated men the public doesn’t know about, but not everything needs to be shared with the public.”

Ayesha Curry caused quite a stir on social media this week after her comments about wanting male attention made its rounds on the Internet. On the latest episode of Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Red Table Talk, Curry revealed that she feels insecure that she doesn’t get the same attention from men that her superstar husband Steph Curry gets from women.

“Something that really bothers me, and honestly has given me a sense of a little bit of an insecurity, is the fact that yeah, there are all these women, like, throwing themselves (at him), but me, like the past 10 years, I don’t have any of that. I have zero – this sounds weird – but, like, male attention, and so then I begin to internalize it, and I’m like, ‘Is something wrong with me?’ I don’t want it but it’d be nice to know that, like, someone’s lookin’.”

Folks on the Internet were divided in their opinion of the cookbook author’s comments. Most men felt that Ayesha was asking to have her cake and eat it too, while many women totally understood where she was coming from.

“Ayesha Curry upset cause other men won’t shoot they shot with her, literally half the world know you’re married to one of the GOAT and have kids, you want them to shoot they shot so you can curve them?? IF THAT AINT PEAK LIGHTSKIN WOMEN BRO SMH” – @ Squidz

“Ayesha curry is every mother who’s ever looked at herself in the mirror and struggled with wondering if she’s still as beautiful as she use to be before child bearing changed her appearance. and that is why the men can’t understand.” -@Pacchantas

After the memes starting flowing and the backlash ensued, Ayesha took to Instagram to address her controversial comments:

“I have never been one to cage my feelings and emotions to any capacity. I am human. It brings me pure joy to speak my mind, be vulnerable at times and to know myself inside and out. Seeing as how it’s mental health awareness month I really want to take the time to encourage everyone to speak their truth regardless of perception, fitting into a mold or offending someone, because it’s YOUR truth. And that’s okay!”

If what I’m not afraid to say out loud about being a 30yr mama of 3 helps another woman like me feel like they’re not the alone and not the only one with an insecurity (because we ALL have them, don’t play) then that makes all of this hoopla worth it.”

Aside from the backlash, many people were singing Ayesha’s praises — confused about why a gorgeous young woman like herself would ever feel insecure.

“All the talk about why she doesn’t get “traction” from men I just don’t get because any woman that walks with a standard & purpose is fine to me. She is definitely pretty outside too! Just because men aren’t saying anything doesn’t mean there’s no thought.” – @ShaneHarrisSnow

“Ayesha Curry isn’t idolized like Kim K & Yung Miami because she’s wholesome and isn’t showing skin… she’s pretty much “too real” for the public eye… and that’s a problem”- @Chrissy_Dior

Ayesha may not be on the cover of all the sexy magazines, baring her body, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that she’s totally a MILF. Hit the flip for photos of the AC that will definitely get any man’s attention.

Jeanine Daniels Talks “Auntie’s Advice”

Jeanine Daniels is a creator who loves to make people emote and touch on various feelings. Those feelings including heartbreak, peace, insecurity, and joy. With that in mind, it’s no secret that the Claremont College grad wants to spread hearty laughs in one of her projects that you can stream on BOSSIP right here.

After already releasing projects like “Petty Fitness”, “She’s Gotta Point”, “His & Hers” and “Kitchen Therapy” thePLUGtv head is giving us “Auntie’s Advice”, a six-episode show that came together on a “broke hunch:” In it, “Auntie” Jeanine and her brutally honest guests respond to submitted questions.

It’s smart, quirky and hilarious as hell and features her quick wit and at times “horribly opinionated” commentary.

Below we talk to Jeanine about Auntie’s Advice, real-life advice from auntie figures in her life and even challenge her to do our job by creating a BOSSIP headline.

BOSSIP: What inspired you to create Auntie’s Advice?

“What inspired me to create aunties advice is two-fold. On one hand, my team and I were looking to create shows for thePLUGtv that we could actually afford to produce. Creating content isn’t cheap, there’s locations, cameras, lighting & sound equipment, hard drives, wardrobe stylists, makeup artists, talent, editors, directors, producers, and of course, craft services because you need to feed all these people doing you a solid. Then after everything is said and done, you need to be able to go into post-production with something that actually makes sense with doable goals. We didn’t want anything that needed too much color correction, ‘cause that’s money, we didn’t want anything that required too much sound editing, ‘cause that’s money. We didn’t want anything that relied too heavily on outside talent, ‘cause that’s money, scheduling, and more favors to ask. Guerrilla content makers often cast themselves as leads in their project because it’s cheaper, and you know you’ll always show up for no pay. It’s just economical really. Does it hurt that I’m funny, and a little too honest? I’mma say ‘No.’

Because I’d created entertaining, easily producible content like this before, we knew it could be done again but what we could do was put a different spin on it.

That brings us to the other reason I created the show; my friends are FUNNY. We sit and talk for hours, and just shoot the s*** about random everyday situations that we’d found ourselves in, and we’re always trading theories, ideas, experiences, and debatable advice. And I thought to myself, we should make a show about giving out some of this advice. Not that I’m saying it was good, bad, useful, right or wrong advice—I didn’t care about that. What I cared about was that it was just horribly opinionated, incredibly funny, and brutally honest, just like an Aunties Advice. I married this idea with the need for a show that we could produce with just two people in a room and limited equipment and Aunties Advice was born.

Two of the homies said we could shoot at their places, the Residency Art Gallery and Comfort LA, then we corralled another group of friends to be guests, and another to handle cameras, sound, directing. My original editor had a phenomenal idea when I gave her creative license over the show after we shot. She said “I can do whatever I want right?” I said yeah, she said “Cool, I’m about to send you a cut.” And when I saw it, I screamed. She used exceptionally crude drawings to illustrate certain things, and it was… BRILLIANT. She got recruited into a gig she couldn’t refuse and couldn’t be my editor anymore, but she basically put in the place the style of the show insisting we do illustrations. One of my best friends, and guests, Michelle Threatt (@mye_belle) draws, so I asked if she could do my illustrations. She had trouble at first, always over illustrating too beautifully, but finally, she got the hang of stick figures. Michelle banged out over 200 hundred drawings for the show strictly off the strength of homies supporting homies. Eventually, I paid her when I got some bread.

Two people in my circle mentioned they wanted to direct. One is making her way through the ranks at HBO and the other is a talented photographer. Their names are in the credits as the directors. I have friends who do amazing music, I needed music—boom. Their names are in the credits under musical features. I had friends who just wanted to support me and be apart however they could—boom, they supported me and all got credited for it. Something I’m really big on is creating an opportunity for those who can benefit from it. In my spirit, everyone involved got something from the show whether it was experience, exposure, a new skill, creative opportunities/outlets, or a show to be able to share in general. I know I did.

During later episodes, I realized Aunties Advice could be a great platform for comedians on the come up to showcase their talents outside of the stage and I got amazing people to pull up by just sliding into DMs on Instagram. Never underestimate the power of just asking.”

BOSSIP: Tell us about your favorite moment/episode of Auntie’s Advice.

“[That’s] impossible to answer. It’s like asking a mom which of her kids is her favorite, she knows, but would never say. I love all the episodes for different reasons. But I can say one of my favorite moments is a space in time that happens every episode but never makes it to screen. It’s that moment when, halfway through the shoot, a guests is on the couch, excited about something and says a bad word. Then they tense up and go, “Wait, can I curse?!” And I say “Yes, of course’.

Their shoulders relax, and they settle a little deeper into the seat cushions and smirk. That’s the moment I know the shoot is about to get a little better because now they’ve just realized “freedom without restriction”. It happens every-time. That would definitely be one of my favorite moments.

If I had to just pick a few moments they’d be as follows;

1. Jeremy’s episode… his declarations about threesomes fixing a relationship stalled by insecurity issues.

2. Shawanna’s episode… just being on set with my bestie.

3. Rome’s episode… the moment, when he had to sit and really think about a question that was posed about a guy saying he accidentally kissed a guy.

4. Michelle’s episode… the disgust on her face hearing some of the questions that made her think back on how much she’s matured.

5. Teddy’s episode … the penis drawings because they make me laugh uncontrollably every time. And I drew them. So sue me.

6. Tierra’s episode … her unbridled honesty concerning her general dislike for friendliness with coworkers. It’s the best.”

BOSSIP: What’s the best advice an auntie (either by blood or by association) ever gave you?

“Back when I was dating an older friend of mine, an auntie who we shall call “Sharon” was talking to me about the pool of men I was choosing to entertain myself with. Sharon suggested I try a different pool and mentioned someone who I never even thought of as a potential candidate. Immediately turned off by the thought of this person who didn’t fit my physical standards quota and other unnecessary estimations of trivial worth, I said: “Naw, I’m good though.”

Curious why I would turn down someone who was seemingly such a good catch outside the fact he didn’t have a beard, wasn’t tall, and not within the hue of “twin brother darkness, Sharon inquired “Why not?” Without the slightest hesitation, “Because he’s not my type” rolled off my tongue quicker than cheap butter melting through hot rice. Before I even had a moment to smirk at my own confidence, she said; “Interesting.”

That should’ve been an indicator that she wasn’t finished with me but I was too smitten with my own self to notice. Until she dealt the finishing blow. “And when was the last time things worked out with ‘your type?’’ She asked taking a sip her Incredible Hulk she then just walked away before I could respond.

It took me only seconds the register the blow of her question, that wasn’t a question, It was a statement. Now at this function, surrounded by friends, she had quickly decimated my self satisfying confidence into dust, molecules, atoms, whichever is smallest. A smile forced its way to my face because it had to, I had to save me from the embarrassment. Soon after that I was royally roasted by my friends who sided with her. It took me a while to admit she had a point, not just in men, but in many aspects of my life.

A common definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. She stopped me from going insane. That was the best advice I’ve gotten from an “Auntie” type so far.

On the next page, Jeanine tells us about the music in Auntie’s Advice and shares a self-created BOSSIP headline!

Jeanine Daniels

Source: Photo via Jeanine Daniels

Tell us about the music used on Auntie’s Advice.

“As a former music executive, my father took great pride in surrounding me with an array of diverse music from an early age. It was ingrained in my DNA to be a music lover, and I found ways to include music in all of my creative endeavors. Naturally, in every project I do music is a big focus for me and I employ it, more often than not, to execute stories, add to the dynamic, and guide the energy. Handpicking and personally sourcing Indie music for my work had always been a great source of pride for me, and after executive producing my first mixtape, the artists I’d worked with starting inviting me to the studio to help guide the sound for the next project. They began making music just for me and that blew my mind. Since then, I’ve learned first hand the hard work, sweat, dedication, and magic it takes to make good music, something I wasn’t aware of previously. I feel like I have a personal and moral obligation to the artist I work with now to make sure I show the world they gifts.

It’s very important to us that the musicians who work with my company feel good about the collaboration in all aspects, especially continued opportunities for exposure. So we make sure that consumers of our content see our artists as more than just background music that they are unconsciously bobbing their heads to. We take pride in promoting who they are, their connection to the content, tagging them, displaying links to their music, and whatever else we are capable of.

Most of the artists on Aunties Advice are longtime collaborators turned friends who have gone above and beyond when it comes to creating soundscapes for the work we’ve done. The music brings the tempo up, accentuate punch lines, and even guides laughter to emphasize the joke. There’s a lot of synergy between the content and musical landscape within it.

My title song, “Aunties Advice” by Marie Amaya and the ending song “Batman” by Richard Wright (currently featured in HBO’s Native Son) gave me the energy I was looking for with the series and was a no brainer to when we heard them. Charles Stella, another collaborator turned friend I met directing “The Purple Panties Podcast” by Zane on Sticher, also came through and brought a lot of his personal style to the show’s soundscape. I’d ask him to emulate something and he’d have it ready the next day and It’d be perfect.

My friends Ant Dzze, Young Indiana, R.C , Eddie Holmes, and Van Clayton, have been supplying me with incredible music for years, so as soon as I told them about the project they were all on board. When You keep talented people around you, it’s not hard to build dopeness, and I might be biased, but I think our music on the show is dope.”

Golden Venus LLC Accused The Queen OF Hip Hop Soul Of Damaging Bev Hills Pad & Dodging Rent Payments

The landlord who accused Mary J. Blige and her ex-spouse of dodging nearly $60,000 in back rent and fees, damaging a Beverly Hills mansion and taking thousands in audiovisual equipment scored a major victory in a suit against them.

Last September, Golden Venus LLC sued both Blige and Isaacs for breach of contract, claiming the pair reneged on a $27,000 a month rental agreement, but not allegedly before damaging the place and taking off with A/V equipment, according to court papers obtained by BOSSIP.

The company said in 2015, Isaacs and Blige agreed to pay $25,500 a month rent for a six bedroom, eight bathroom estate in the prestigious Mulholland Estates that is now valued at $7.5 million.

The following year, the ex-couple agreed to extend their lease at a rate of $27,000 a month. But after three months, the landlord said Blige and Isaacs stopped paying rent, however, they agreed to move and asked the landlord to apply their $50,000 security deposit to the back rent, court papers state.

Golden Ventures said Isaacs and Blige never paid up the additional rent money, and also accused them of trashing the place. The company said it had to repair holes in the walls, fix the freezer, a water leak, the air conditioner and the garage doors at a cost of $16,058. The landlord also said the “Not Gon’ Cry” singer and her former manager “removed” a ton of A/V equipment that most more than $31,000.

The landlord said that the back rent, money it took to fix the home, the missing A/V equipment and the costs to resist the mansion for rent left them $58,211 in the hole – minus Blige’s security deposit – and the company wanted its money back plus interest and lawyer fees.

However, the case languished for several months in civil court because Golden Ventures couldn’t get a hold of MBJ or Isaacs in order to serve them with its complaint. But late last month, the landlord’s lawyer told the court that they were finally able to serve the exes, and a judge ruled that the case could continue.

Blige and Isaacs, who settled their divorce last year, have yet to respond to the case, according to court papers. All sides are due back in court next month.

We reached out to the landlord’s lawyer for comment. No attorney was listed for Blige or Isaacs.

Let the cops tell it, they HAD to do this to “protect themselves”. Seems to always be the excuse when someone’s civil rights are violated.

All Whites Matter…

Hoschton, GA Mayor Rejects Black Candidate

We’d love to say this is unbelievable but we’ve long known that Georgia outside of Atlanta isn’t the friendliest of places for black people. The mayor of Hoschton, GA is currently the subject of an Atlanta Journal Constitution investigation because she allegedly withheld a job candidate from consideration for a city administrator role because he was black.

According to documents obtained by the AJC and interviews with city officials, Mayor Theresa Kenerly told a member of the City Council she pulled Keith Henry’s resume from a packet of four finalists “because he is black, and the city isn’t ready for this.”

The mayor’s comments were reportedly whispered to a member of the council during a closed-door session on March 4th, and were overheard. Councilwoman Hope Weeks said Kenerly repeated her comments in the parking lot after the meeting, according to a document released by the city in response to an open records request from the AJC.

“She proceeded to tell me that the candidate was real good, but he was black and we don’t have a big black population and she just didn’t think Hoschton was ready for that,” Weeks wrote in an account dated March 4.

Weeks shared Kenerly’s comments with Councilwoman Susan Powers and the two decided to take the issue to city attorney Thomas Mitchell.

“Both of us were just appalled, so we thought we had to do something to stop it,” Powers said.

Weeks declined to be interviewed on the record, but issued a statement saying she was disappointed in the mayor’s comments about the candidate.

“Mr. Henry was a very professional and qualified candidate who was a finalist for the position of city administrator before withdrawing to accept another position,” she said. “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Hoschton, but this has been one of the most challenging seasons of my life.”

According to emails obtained by the AJC, Mitchell and the city’s five elected officials opted to continue the hiring process, allowing Kenerly to attend but not participate. Mitchell also cautioned officials to cease sending emails about the issue.

“I do not think it in the best interests of the city (or the individual elected officials) to continue emailing in this manner,” he wrote in a March 14 email.

In emails, Powers protested the mayor’s continued involvement in the search for a city administrator.

“Since she corrupted this entire process by trying to shield the application of Mr. Henry from Council members and then making the comment to the effect that while he is qualified he should not be considered because he is black and the city is not ready for this, she should not be a part of this hiring process,” Powers wrote. “I am appalled that in 2019 an applicant would not be hired based solely on the color of their skin.”

Henry withdrew his candidacy not long after the March 4 meeting and a phone interview with council members. He told the AJC he chose to withdraw because the city asked that he pay his travel, room, and board to travel for an in-person interview with the promise of reimbursement at a later date. Two of the other candidates for the position were local, while the third was willing to drive from the Georgia coast at his own expense.

Henry told the AJC he didn’t detect any bias after being interviewed by Kenerly over the phone but as a black man applying for executive government positions in small Southern towns, he wasn’t surprised that it may have existed.

“It comes with the territory,” he said. “If you live in America as a minority you can’t be naïve that it is the reality that you face.”

Kenerly refused to initially answer questions about her reported comments, saying she could not publicly talk about matters that occurred in executive session even though the law does not forbid that.

“I can’t say I said it or not said it,” she said.

Kenerly later issued a statement disputing accounts from other city officials.

Kenerly was not without defenders. Councilman Jim Cleveland confirmed many aspects of the story, including his account that Kenerly made a tearful apology in another executive session on March 12, where council members say she claimed to be “looking out” for Henry because the city does not have a lot of minority residents.

“I was there for that,” Cleveland said. “She cried. She had tears in her eyes. It was in my opinion a very sincere apology.”

Cleveland also seemed to express understanding of Kenerly’s motives saying:

“I understood where she was coming from,” he said. “I understand Theresa saying that, simply because we’re not Atlanta. Things are different here than they are 50 miles down the road.”

Cleveland described Hoschton as “a predominantly white community” not in accord with urban sensibilities about race.“I don’t know how they would take it if we selected a black administrator. She might have been right,” he said.

Cleveland said he ranked Henry fourth out of the candidates in any case because he’d elected not to come for the in-person interview.

Councilman Cleveland also shared his not so enlightened views on race:

“I’m a Christian and my Christian beliefs are you don’t do interracial marriage. That’s the way I was brought up and that’s the way I believe,” he said. “I have black friends, I hired black people. But when it comes to all this stuff you see on TV, when you see blacks and whites together, it makes my blood boil because that’s just not the way a Christian is supposed to live.”

YIKES… Sounds like Hoschton has a loooooong way to go when it comes to race.

Located just outside Gwinnett County, in Jackson County, adjacent to the larger city of Braselton, Hoschton has a population of less than 2,000 people and only 201 of that number identify as non-white according to U.S. Census data.

Hoschton’s city code reads: “There shall be no discrimination exercised because of race, national origin, color, religion, creed, age, sex … All personnel actions shall be based solely on individual merit and fitness.”

Looks like the code is a long way from being followed.

D.C. Go-Go Protest Dubbed Moechella Fights Gentrification In The City

The D.C. gentrifiers were no doubt chocking on their newly-opened coffee shop scones when the glorious go-go community of the DMV took over 14th and U Street.

According to News One, a Save Chocolate City Protest was organized outside the Reeves Center in Northwest D.C. and more than 3,000 people came out to beat their feet, keep it gangsta, or shout out their hood against gentrification.

At the event dubbed “Moechella,” honoring the city’s “kill moe” slang, iconic go-go band Backyard Band (BYB) brought the tunes for the evening.

The event acts as the most recent demonstration against gentrification. Things reached a fever pitch back in March when a Metro PCS store known for playing go-go music from their speakers was under attack by soup cookie complainers. The new residents of the Shaw neighborhood complained that the go-go tunes were disruptive. After threats of legal action, PCS’ parent company, T-Mobile, ordered an end to the go-go music coming from the store, which had been playing there for almost 25 years.

An online petition was started to keep the store playing go-go music and eventually a #DontMuteDC campaign was started on social media. This resulted in the first huge protest outside the Reeves Center in April where the go-go band TOB and rapper Wale appeared.

The chief executive of T-Mobile, John Legere, took notice of D.C.’s demands and he eventually tweeted out that the Metro PCS store could continue playing go-go music and they would negotiate volume levels.

Now, it seems D.C. residents are continuing the fight against gentrification with the thousands of people showing up on Tuesday. Hit the flip for more crankin’ clips of the demonstration and the beauty of Black organizing, celebration and fighting back.

Eliza Reign Posts First Pictures Of Baby Reign Wilburn

The woman who claims her beautiful baby girl is Future’s is sharing sweet pics. As previously reported Eliza Reign claimed that Future was none too pleased that she was expecting and alleged that he wanted harm to come to her.

Despite the challenging circumstances and shade from Future fans, Eliza’s since given birth to a child, a baby girl, and she’s absolutely precious. Eliza posted pics of little Reign Wilburn on IG and has since started an Instagram page for her.

Wilburn is, of course, Future’s last name. Rein would be Future’s seventh child.

Future himself said he’d be open to having more kids—but wants boys.

“Hendrix [his Joie Chavez child]  is number 6, all boys, one girl. Hendrix is the last—naw, naw Hendrix not the last. I gotta have more kids. […] “Me and my boys [sons] we’re like best friends, it’s unbelievable.”

Eliza also wrote a lengthy post about how she felt alone during her pregnancy—until she felt her baby girl kick and reassure her.

“There were times I felt so alone and would look down at my belly and immediately cheer up, knowing she’s hanging in there with me through all of the stress and drama,” wrote Eliza on IG. “She’s truly been my protection and kept me strong and going.

There were moments I began to doubt myself, but my spirit wouldn’t stay down, thanks to my beautiful little girl. Her annoying kicks would always be the reassurance I needed to make it through the tough days. Knowing what I know now and after looking back on my experience, I can confidently say she was well worth all the chaos.

I can’t stop crying tears of joy when I look at her. Thank God we made it ❤️”

This pregnancy was absolutely the toughest, most humbling, yet beautiful experience of my life. I went through hell and back. Health complications seemingly from day one. Lost friends, money, opportunities, and even some of the little bit of sanity I thought I had 😂. However, this journey taught me to be more understanding, observant, forgiving, and most importantly PATIENT 😩. There were times I felt so alone and would look down at my belly and immediately cheer up, knowing she’s hanging in there with me through all of the stress and drama. She’s truly been my protection and kept me strong and going. From the moment I decided to keep her, I promised myself and God that I’d show her unconditional love and teach her to be 3x the woman I am. And that’s a promise that will never be broken. I’m super excited and blessed to get a chance to love and guide this little one. I can’t stop crying tears of joy when I look at her. Thank God we made it ❤️

Children are absolutely innocent. We wish Eliza and little Reign the best.

See another post from Eliza on the flip.

Eliza is clapping back at detractors who’ve been blasting her with single-mother shade.
