Birdman Gets New Teeth

Ever since we’ve known Birdman, he’s been the face of the iced out grill. Even back before diamond teeth were dope, Baby was rocking the all gold grill.  But sometimes, you just gotta switch ish up, and Birdman did just on Friday when he revealed his new, more authentic choppers.

In true Hot Boy fashion, Baby didn’t fully let go of all his bling. He kept some diamond accents on each tooth — but at least now we can see some enamel.

Ya’ll feelin’ it?

Foot Locker x Washington Heights Community Store

Source: aqua / aqua

Foot Locker is opening a new community power store in NYC, in the Washington Heights neighborhood to be specific. The athletic retailer aims to make the new store an Uptown destination and Hip-Hop Wired got a sneak peek at the finer details that will make it happen.

Situated on 181st Street between Wadsworth Ave. and  St. Nicholas Ave., the two-floor building has all the fresh kicks and apparel you can desire from Nike, whose Nike App will be key in its flourishment, as well as adidas, Reebok, Puma, New Balance and more. While women’s and kids’ apparel is featured on the first floor, the 2nd floor has all the men’s product you can can desire from Nike, Jordan Brand and more. Also upstairs is a community space where activations like panels and launches will be held.

Nike Plus members will want to visit thanks to an “Unlock Box” that will feature a monthly rotation of giveaways like pins, laces and Nike-branded chargers. But the ShoeCase will be an essential visit because it will feature a very rare and limited shoe that usually means L’s when you’re trying to cop online. Although nothing is guaranteed, you’ll be able to scan your Nike Pass and be entered in a real-time draw. If you’re selected, you’ll be able to take your ticket to the register and pick up a shoe. During our visit we took an L on a new colorway of Nike AIR Max 270 Reacts, though.

Set to open tomorrow (Aug. 10), you can also expect some sold out releases to be available. Reps didn’t want to give up the goods, but considering Satin black toe Air Jordan 1’s are on the horizon and the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 “LA to Chicago” is due for a restock…you never know. There will also be store exclusives—you can bet the Jordan “Heights” hoodie and tees will be gone extra fast.

Ya know the #YeehawAgenda can’t be stopped. Black folks have been doing this cowboy thang for a long time and it was only a matter of time before the media caught up.

Now, a new movie will bring cowboys to the spotlight starring Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin of Stranger Things fame.

According to Deadline, production for Concrete Cowboys is underway.

The movie is inspired by the real-life Fletcher Street Stables, a Black urban horsemanship community which has operated in Philly for more than 100 years providing a safe haven for the neighborhood. The movie also takes inspiration from the novel Ghetto Cowboy by Greg Neri.

It will follow 15-year-old Cole (McLaughlin) who’s moved in with his estranged father Harp (Elba) in North Philadelphia, where he learns about the city’s vibrant urban cowboy subculture, which thrives despite the surrounding violence, poverty and encroachment of gentrification.

Along with acting, Elba also serves as a producer for the movie. Lee Daniels Entertainment will also have their hand in production.

As previously stated, the Yeehaw Agenda can’t be stopped. We’ll keep you updated as more info surfaces!

Rick Ross "Port Of Miami 2" Album Release Celebration

Rick Ross Reveals Why He Took Pusha T’s Verse Off “Maybach Music VI”

Since Port of Miami 2 dropped last night, fans have been coming up with all sorts of theories on why Pusha T’s verse didn’t make the final cut of “Maybach Music VI” with Lil Wayne.

But Rick Ross is trying to nip that in the bud before things go any further.

The boss stopped by Hot 97 this morning to talk about the release of his album, and of course, the topic of “Maybach Music VI” came up pretty quickly. There were rumors that either one of the feuding rappers he was trying to get on the song didn’t clear their verses once they found out one another was on the project, but according to Ross, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Though Pusha’s verse leaked around the same time as the album dropped on Thursday night, Ross said the decision to not put the verse on the song came down to not feeling the unification of these two legendary rappers would have been organic under the circumstances.

“What’s so dope about it is that both verses were cleared from both parties, but like I said, it was more about the bigger picture,” Rozay explained. “Is this gonna move them two getting together closer? I’mma take the charge for that. I didn’t feel like this was the time for that.”

Whether or not the content matter of Pusha’s verse–which included some jabs that could be directed at Lil Wayne and/or Drake–was the reason his verse was the one removed wasn’t addressed.

Check the interview out for yourself down below to hear what Ross had to say about the whole situation:

A woman by the name of Sarah is going viral online after she told her followers a particularly heartwarming story. When she was 20 years old, she moved out of a homeless shelter into her first apartment. She had an infant to take care of and was prepared to get by somehow, someway, when total strangers stepped in to help her.

“When I was 20 years old, I moved into my first apartment, with my then-6-mo-old, from a homeless shelter. We had blankets, an armchair, our clothes, & her crib. I bought that crib new to make sure it was safe. It was the only new thing she had for a nursery,” Sarah tweeted. “After paying for the crib, the move, her formula & diapers, the phone CPS required me to have, and 1st/last, I had no money left. I slept on the floor that first night, grateful I had a home of my own. The next day, the shelter called me, and told me that someone offered to bring me over some furniture that had been left behind by a tenant. I eagerly accepted and the shelter gave the couple my address.”

What happened next was beautiful…

In times like these, Sarah’s story is the kind of push we all need to remember to be kind to those around us. The internet is weeping with hope…

May God continue to bless her family!

Music is subjective. And everyone has their own opinion on what they consider a fire a** beat.

For some, it’s solely about the bass.

For others, it’s all about some quality drums or flawless keys.

And who doesn’t love a quality, soulful sample.

Today marks the 8th anniversary of one of the greatest hip hop albums we’ve been blessed to experience — Watch The Throne. The Kanye West/Jay-Z joint project set the tone for hella collaboration albums to follow, but none of them caused ripple waves in the culture quite like The Throne.

I mean, The Throne had “Otis”! Everyone remembers where they were in the Summer of 2011 when they her Otis Redding’s vocals on a loop as Hov and Ye’ took turns snaping on the track.

With streaming services and social media, the consumption of is easier, but our attention to quality has become much less of a priority. Instead of feeling beats with our bodies now, we think about it in our heads.

Remember when beats made your whole body move? Well I put together a list of some of the most underrated beats in the history of hip hop — and these are only the ones that come to mind. Hit me up on Twitter @Misskiyonna to share your thoughts.

Wendy Williams Mamarazzi Event

Wendy Williams is hot on the market after separating from her soon-to-be ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, who reportedly had an affair and a kid with another woman. With Wendy living the single life, she’s keeping an eye out for a new boo and to no surprise….

Wendy got demands.

Ms. Williams went on Sway in the Morning with very specific ideas about dating. Some of her thoughts made sense while others caused quite a stir amongst millennials in the Global Grind office.

[embedded content]

At 55, Williams is definitely old enough to know what she wants, but when it comes to gender roles or something as simple as men being circumcised, she contrasted with some of the youngins. Global Grind writers who date men gathered online to debate Wendy’s questionable views.

Peep what Kiyonna (anthonykiyonna), Sukii (sukii), and Royce (rdunmore13) had to say below, then hit the flip for more reactions to Wendy’s strong views (including her demand for a circumcised peen).

On guys opening the door for women

Wendy: “You’ll walk me to my car and you’ll open the door. I won’t even have to say anything. And I’m one of these types of girls, I will stand there and wait.”

rdunmore13: I don’t need any of that.

anthonykiyonna: I prefer it it. Shows respect.

sukii: It’s nice. I honestly don’t encounter men who don’t hold doors open…so I never feel the need to announce that as a requirement. It sort of just happens lol.

rdunmore13: Truuuu.

anthonykiyonna: Lol yup I agree

sukii: Sometimes I hold the door for them, just to trip ’em up. The reactions are hilarious. Men will almost refuse to walk through the door. Try it sometimes.
