BET Premieres “Bigger” At BronzeLens Film Fest

We had the pleasure of attending the premiere screening of BET’s hilarious new Will Packer-produced comedy “BIGGER” at Atlanta‘s famed BronzeLens Film Festival where we chatted with brilliant show creator Felischa Marye about the soon-to-be streaming smash.

Naturally, she couldn’t say much about her crazy, sexy, cool and hilarious new show (that’s a sharply-written blend of “Insecure” and “Living Single”) but we DO know it’s slated to launch with the storied network’s shiny new streaming service BET+ this fall.

Packed with laugh-out-loud moments and pearl clutch-worthy plot twists, “BIGGER” pops with refreshingly authentic dialogue and scenarios that, honestly, were a bit shocking coming from the notoriously conservative BET network.

Oh yes, things get very spicy and very Atlanta in the funniest possible way.

Set in the East Atlanta neighborhood of Little Five Points, the 30-minute, 10-episode series follows a single Black store owner (Tanisha Long) dealing with the threat of marriage to a boring-in-bed boo and sudden death of a college acquaintance. The tragedy pushes her ambitious group of friends (Angell Conwell, Rasheda Crockett, Chase Anthony, and Tristen Winger) to take a deeper look at their lives, asking themselves—”is there something bigger and better in life?”

Christina Milian’s Boyfriend Matt Pokora Told Her She’d Have His Baby

Christina Milian is revealing more about her super sweet swirlmance. According to C. Milli who’s starring in “Falling Inn Love”, when she initially met her boo thang Matt Pokora in 207 he had an unconventional line within their first hours of meeting.

‘Tina who’s pregnant with their first child was a guest on E! News’ Daily Pop and detailed meeting her swirlie sweetie to the hosts. According to Tina, she wasn’t even interested in meeting but things changed when she laid eyes on him…

“We met in France at a restaurant,” said Christina. I was singing on the tables and it was of course then a summer because it was a ‘hot summer,’” she said. “The manager of the restaurant insisted that we meet each other because we’re both singers and I was like, ‘Aw, that’s okay.’ I didn’t even see what he looked like. Then he happened to pass me and then next thing you know I was like, whoa! He looks like that? Okay! So we switched numbers, found out we had the same birthday that night and it was like the stars aligned.”

Later Matt told her flatout that the singer/actress would have his baby, a SON at that.

“He told me, ‘We’re going to have a child together.’ This is the same night [laughs],” she said. “I’ve never had anybody say that to me. I was like, ‘Just so you know, I already have one.’ He’s like, ‘Well what do you have?’ ‘A 9-year-old daughter.’ He was like, ‘Well, you don’t have a son.’ I was like uh! Oh my gosh. Panty dropper! He got me. From the beginning, he was interested in meeting my daughter, he was interested in meeting Violet. He was on it. It was so nice. I’ve never seen anybody be like that.”

Did we mention that during Christina’s gender reveal they found out that it’s a BOY?!

Today, the NFL and Roc Nation announced the launch of Inspire Change apparel and Songs of the Season as part of their new partnership. Inspire Change apparel, a new social enterprise model, will fund and support Inspire Change programs across the country. Proceeds from this venture will support organizations committed to the key priorities of Inspire Change: education and economic empowerment, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform. The Inspire Change apparel line, designed by artists, will be available later in the 2019 season.

Songs of the Season is a multi-tier, season-long initiative that will highlight superstars and emerging artists of all genres. Songs of the Season will showcase musicians that will create and deliver a song to be integrated in all NFL promotions each month during the season. The songs will debut during an in-game broadcast and will be simultaneously released to all digital streaming platforms (DSPs) worldwide. All proceeds from the songs will go toward Inspire Change.

According to the announcement Meek Mill will be one of the FIRST Inspire Change advocates…

Meek Mill, Meghan Trainor and Rapsody will be the first Inspire Change advocates of the 2019 NFL Season and will perform a free concert at the NFL Kickoff Experience presented by EA SPORTS MADDEN NFL ’20 in Chicago’s Grant Park on Thursday, September 5. Also performing will be the Chicago-based DJ Pharris. A portion of Meek Mill and Meghan Trainor’s performance will be featured in simulcast coverage of the 40-minute pregame show from Chicago from 7:30 – 8:10 PM ET on NBC and NFL Network.

Following Meek Mill and Meghan Trainor’s performance, fans are encouraged to stay at Grant Park for the NFL KICKOFF WATCH PARTY as the Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears.

Future is joining the list of hip-hop acts to help their fans with finances for school.

The rapper is embarking on the Legendary Nights Tour with Meek Mill on August 31, and throughout the 17 city tour, Future is also giving fans the chance to bag a $2,000 scholarship. Nayvadius is offering supporters on each stop of the tour the opportunity to win a scholarship, with selected winners also receiving an exclusive I Am a Dreamer sweatshirt and a pair of show tickets.

The official rules from Future’s Freewishes Foundation states that entering the pool of contenders requires following the Freewishes Instagram page along with emailing a 500-word essay about how the scholarship would be “a dream come true” for the student.

For anyone interested in the opportunity, the deadline for each stop is noon local time the day before the show itself. And of course, participants must be a registered and active college student.

Future and Meek Mill‘s Legendary Nights Tour kicks off in Chicago on Saturday with some help from YG, Megan Thee Stallion, and Mustard.

Press Play: Trailer Drops For J. Cole-Produced Documentary ‘Out of Omaha’

A J. Cole-produced documentary has been getting major buzz and finally a trailer has been released for its upcoming T.V. premiere.

The doc Out of Omaha premiered at DocNYC and according to Shadow and Act, it’s described as “an intimate portrait of twin brothers Darcell and Darrell Trotter, two young black men coming of age in the racially and economically-divided Midwestern city of Omaha, Nebraska.” 

The movie was filmed over the course of eight years by director Clay Tweel with J. Cole serving as executive producer.

“By intimately portraying the twins’ hopes and struggles – and the love and help they give and get along the way – the film examines how much it takes to overcome disadvantages rooted in historic injustice,” reads the official description.

The movie went on to win the Audience Award at DocNYC. According to All Hip Hop, J. Cole explained in 2018:

“Omaha is the story that never gets told. These are the forgotten ones that the world so often overlooks. The story of these two boys-turned-to-men resonated with me in part because I’ve known them my whole life. Not personally, and not literally, but their stories parallel too many of the boys I grew up with, caught between a rock and hard place and bound for pain.”
