Look to your left, and you’ll most likely spot someone wearing AirPods. Look to your right, and it’s almost guaranteed that there’s another person with the same attachments peeking out their ears. Everyone and their mother seems to own AirPods these days, making the Bluetooth earphones more of a status symbol than anything else. Of course, they aren’t the end-all-be-all of wireless earphones (although you can’t deny that they’re the most popular). There are far more worthy alternatives, and plenty that won’t require you to cough up $150 a pop.

One of them is the X2 True Wireless Earbuds, which are now on sale for 75 percent off. It’s not an understatement to say that these babies are unlike any other. Made from beryllium, an element commonly found in stars’ cores, this pair is out of this world. They boast 3D sound that flows your favorite music through your ears, along with CVC 6.0 noise cancellation that drowns out distracting outside noise. They’re built to last, too, and specially designed for all-day comfort. Plus, the 10-hour battery ensures that you get to enjoy your playlists for long periods.

Grab a pair on sale now for $36.99. That’s a 75 percent markdown from the usual cost of $149.97.

The Boondocks on HBO Max

Source: WarnerMedia / HBO Max

The Boondocks will be returning to the HBO Max streaming service late next year, which feels like a lifetime away. However, Twitter has joined together in loud celebration that Aaron McGruder’s visually and socially stirring series is making a welcome return.

The Boondocks last aired on network television in 2014 for its fourth season, which some might remember did not have any involvement from the show’s original creator. For the retooling of the series, first announced over the summer in a partnership with Sony Pictures Animation, Uncle Ruckus rises to power in Woodcrest County, Maryland with Huey and Riley Freeman taking on the tyrannical leader.

Via Twitter, excitement over the reboot, which was ordered for two seasons, was pretty high. And not for nothing, we hope that Asheru’s stellar theme song makes a return as well along with the talented Regina King.

Check out the reactions below.

Wendy Williams Accuses Christie Brinkley Of Faking Dancing With The Stars Injury, The Talk Hosts Clap Back

In case you missed it, Christie Brinkley is being replaced on “Dancing With The Stars” by her model daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook after falling and breaking her arm in rehearsals… Wendy Williams addressed Brinkley’s fall in her Hot Topics segment this week and she wasn’t the kindest. If you start the video below at the 20 minute mark you can see where she says she doesn’t believe Brinkley even fell on her arm:

Wendy straight up said, “That looked fake as hell…”

Well the ladies of “The Talk” are talking back! Hit the flip to see how Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood responded to Williams’ words about Brinkley.

“I have to go in on Wendy on this, because not so long ago Wendy was not in a very good place. And she had well wishes from so many people that she had, you know, run over the coals, so to speak,” says Osbourne. “Why is it, no matter what this woman goes though in her life, her ups and downs, which we all do, obviously hers is more public, and you know she’s a 55-year-old woman who relapsed again on drugs. And the thing is, nobody gave her a hard time. It was just love, support to her. Now there’s a lovely lady, Christie Brinkley, who shattered her bones, has a metal plate put in… What is it within you that is so dark that you can’t seem to get it out, when the world shows you love and wishes you well… You are so dark inside, so mean, constantly. I have to say, I feel bad for her. I feel bad for people that have this anger, this nastiness inside them.”

Sheryl Underwood also had a lot to say to Wendy as well:

“Nobody said when she (Wendy Williams) was going through the stuff she was going through, she was faking it. We all were worried about her health. We want to say as women, ‘Wendy, don’t go back to what you used to be… Don’t do this. Don’t do this.’ We love Wendy Williams and we thought she was going to come around as another person… God gave you a second chance, do something good now.”

Do you agree with the ladies of “The Talk” or is Wendy just gonna be Wendy regardless?

Last month, Afton Williamson identified the members of The Rookie crew who she says sexually harassed her on set and more. Now, in an update, Afton’s claims have been dismissed following an internal investigation ordered by production company eOne.

From TVLine:

Earlier on Tuesday, the findings of an internal investigation into Williamson’s claims were released, and “concluded that those identified in Ms. Williamson’s allegations did not conduct themselves in an unlawful manner or demonstrate behavior inappropriate for the workplace.” The findings also concluded that the showrunners, including executive producer Alexi Hawley, “addressed matters of which they were made aware promptly and in a fair and reasonable manner.”

ABC is reportedly standing by eOne’s investigation and the actress has something to say about it all. Here’s how she responded on social media…

What saddens me the most is that the lengths that were taken to Deceive, Lie, and Cover Up the Truth, were far greater than those made to Protect and Maintain a Safe Working Environment for Employees. It’s Heartbreaking for everyone on that set; Past and Present. And for every Actor out there who Stands in the Face Of Harassment and Discrimination, Assault and Injustice. As a Black Woman, an Artist, an Actor, in 2019. My Speaking the Truth, Standing up for myself, and Leaving an Unsafe Work Environment, Changed things for a lot of people: Black Women, Artists, Actors, Victims, and Survivors of Injustice and Discrimination; Gave Hope and a Promise that things Will Change; that things ARE CHANGING. And that is Not in Vain. My prayer is that we get to a point in this Industry where we don’t just Talk about it in 2 hour Mandatory Meetings. But we adhere to Keeping the Promises Made to Everyone on every set, Tirelessly Fulfilling their Dreams with Passion and Dedication. In order to Be the Change, I want to see, I will Continue to Work so that Casts & Crews alike finally See Words Align With Action. We’ve got to Do Better as an Industry. It’s just Talk until you actually Do Something. ❤️

Once again, fans are rallying behind Afton. See what a few have had to say below and click here to see Demetrius Grosse’s official response to being let off the hook.

Pregnant Bride Dies Just Moments Before Wedding

A Brazilian couple’s dream wedding ended as a nightmare after the 30-year-old pregnant bride suffered a stroke on her way to the ceremony. Jéssica Victor Guedes was declared brain dead shortly after arriving to at a nearby hospital. According to reports, Guedes who was six months pregnant with her first child, fell ill inside a limo Saturday night as her fiancé and numerous guests waited for her at a Catholic church in São Paulo.

The Sun reports:

At first her family thought she was suffering from anxiety due to wedding nerves after she complained of feeling dizzy with pains in her neck. Because of this the entourage was running late and they were unaware the victim was suffering from the pre-eclampsia which would shortly rob her of her young life and motherhood.

The groom, former firefighter Flavio Gonçalvez, reportedly rushed to his bride’s side and started first aid before emergency personnel arrived — but it was too late. Doctors performed an emergency C-Section on Guedes when she arrived at the hospital, and the couple’s baby girl Sophia survived. Jessica was pronounced dead shortly after.

Baby Sophia, who was born prematurely, is expected to remain at the hospital for about three months. Prayers up for the Goncalves family.

*Mild spoilers*

Hustlers has only been out for one weekend and already it’s receiving critical acclaim and setting box office records. Some folks are even predicting a gold statue for Jennifer Lopez.

The movie follows a group of strippers over the course of several years who experience the highs and lows of their profession with their biggest low being the 2008 financial crisis. Because most of their clients were Wall Steet professionals, their jobs tank along with the men in suits. Thus, the women in the movie have to resort to extreme, sometimes illegal measures to earn money.

The movie, which is based on the New York magazine article “The Hustlers At Scores,” stars Lopez as Ramona, a boss stripper who rallies the other ladies to make as much money as possible. The movie explores Ramona’s relationship with Constance Wu‘s character Destiny, who seeks guidance from Ramona in the stripper world while also caring for her elderly grandmother back home. Eventually, Ramona and Destiny’s relationship is challenged in a way that pits the two against each other in some well-played drama.

While the whole cast — which includes Keke Palmer, Cadi B, and Lizzo — deserves praise for their performances, J.Lo is getting the most attention for Oscar buzz. RogerEbert.com said J.Lo gave a “career-best performance” while The Hollywood Reporter wrote Lopez is “poised to land her first Oscar nom.”

So the only question remains, is J.Lo’s performance worth the hype?

Yes.

Is it Oscar-worthy?

That depends on who you ask.

J.Lo was never a terrible actress, but her name was never really associated with critical acclaim either. Although she is to be commended for her multifaceted career in entertainment, recently J. Lo has had a few so-so rom-coms and television shows like Shades of Blue. Even J.Lo’s most solid performances risked being glossed over because of bad writing or weak character development.

However, with Hustlers, it’s quite possible J.Lo found a character made for her talents. Ramona was sexy and confident but also vulnerable at times and forceful when needed. The movie definitely shows J.Lo’s range as an actress and because the character was so central to the plot, J.Lo couldn’t help but shine.

Whether J.Lo’s performance is Oscar-worthy comes down to taste. If you like strong, powerhouse performances, this might not be it for you. If you like subtlety, this movie also might not be it. But if you like that middle sweet spot where the actress understands her character and great writing supports the final product, then J.Lo’s turn as Ramona might be right for you.

Considering the Academy tends to like that balance of powerhouse lead performances and a megastar’s rendition of a nuanced role, it wouldn’t be a surprise if J.Lo gets the nod.

We can only wait and find out if future competition risks taking the gold away from her.

Over the past five years or so, it seems as if Hollywood has left their innovative ideas behind in favor of 1990’s remakes. From television to film, reboots have taken over the industry. It’s very rare to see original content by big budget studios these days.

Just a few months after Lion King, Aladdin and Shaft made the box office look like the late 90’s again, reports surface that Issa Rae is set to produce and possibly star in a ‘Set It Off’ remake. According to the Hollywood Reporter, producing with her will be Montrel McKay, Rae’s partner at Issa Rae Productions. But are fans of the 1996 film here for a remake?

As we’ve seen with Lion King, some remakes actually do big numbers at the box office. But less face it, some movies definitely should have been left alone. Hit the flip to see which film remakes were a hit and which were sadly a miss.

A 4-year-old girl is making headlines after she went above and beyond to help her little brother out. The infant was born with SCID, according to reports, and only a bone marrow transplant could save his life.

From NYDailyNews:

A 4-year-old girl whose baby brother has the “bubble boy” syndrome is being hailed as a “super hero” big sis for donating bone marrow to save his life. Khloe Land, of Coos Bay, Ore., underwent the procedure on Monday and was recovering in the aftermath, her proud parents posted on Facebook. “My sweet girl,” the Oregon girl’s mother, Kayla Land, wrote. “She had such a hard time but she’s so brave.” Her younger brother, Colton, was born healthy on July 24, Land told Good Morning America. But within a week, testing showed he had been born with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) – he did not have an immune system so could not fight off infections. Only a bone marrow transplant could save his life.

There’s no arguing that coffee is the most important beverage next to water (and fine, tea). It’s your daily pick-me-up, your energy fuel that helps you conquer your otherwise insurmountable tasks for the day. It’s only right, then, that you only consume quality coffee, and not the kind that you can make from pods (which is bad for the environment, btw) or your local coffee chain (you know the one).

Crafting coffee is both an art and a science, and you can make yourself the perfect cup each time with the Wilfa Precision Automatic Coffee Maker. Designed and developed in collaboration with renowned barista Tim Wendelboe, this java machine is inspired by Norway’s bustling coffee culture. It uses state-of-the-art brewing technology to give you complete control over the water and temperature, allowing for optimal (aka flavorful) results.

Every time you use it, you can observe how the coffee makes its way through the tubes and into the carafe. It also features a LED display with a kitchen timer, and a child safety lock function to prevent accidental operation.

Enjoy quality coffee every day with the Wilfa Precision Automatic Coffee Maker. It usually goes for $349.99, but for a limited time, you can take one home on sale for $84.99.

Rihanna Attends Broadway Show Featuring Her Hit “WORK”

Work hard, play harder? After an exciting week where she showcased her Savage X FENTY line and held her 5th Annual Diamond Ball, Rihanna’s weekend consisted of a cultural outing to see the Broadway show “Slave Play” by Jeremy O. Harris.

Page Six reports the singer stopped by the Golden Theatre on Saturday with her family for the sold-out preview night performance. The tabloid reports she texted with the show’s playwright after the show before heading backstage.

“He invited her to the show,” a source told Page Six of Harris, who clicked with Rihanna when he attended her Savage x Fenty fashion show and Diamond Ball gala.

Rihanna may not be acting in “SLAVE PLAY,” which critics have billed as provocative and explosive, but she does have a role in the show, sort of. RihRih’s hit song “Work” is featured in the show and her lyrics are also displayed on the set.

Doesn’t thinks have you soooo curious? A play about slavery, sort of, that features an international pop hit? Has to be pretty cheeky. A release for the production describes it thusly:

The old South lives on at the MacGregor Plantation—in the breeze, in the cotton fields…and in the crack of the whip. It’s an antebellum fever-dream, where fear and desire entwine in the looming shadow of the Master’s House. Jim trembles as Kaneisha handles melons in the cottage, Alana perspires in time with the plucking of Phillip’s fiddle in the boudoir, while Dustin cowers at the heel of Gary’s big, black boot in the barn. Nothing is as it seems, and yet everything is as it seems.

Sounds BEYOND creative. We can only imagine!

Rihanna wasn’t the only celebrity to see the show this weekend, Zendaya attended on Sunday.

By the way, for those who haven’t already guessed Jeremy O. Harris is a REALLY big deal, “SLAVE PLAY” won the Rosa Parks Playwrighting Award, the Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award, The Lotos Foundation Prize in the Arts and Sciences and the 2018 Paula Vogel Award. Robert O’Hara, who is an Obie winner, is the director.

Sounds like something we need some tickets for. Holla.
