WeTV is set to premiere the first 15 minutes of the original groundbreaking installment of the popular franchise Love After Lockup Friday July 19th, but before it hits TV we’ve got an exclusive first look for our BOSSIP readers.

Check it out below:

Wow… A needle in the bathroom is craaazy?!

Love After Lockup follows seven couples, including two Love During Lockup fan favorites, as they discover more love, new doubts, and encounter unforeseen obstacles in their relationships. The couples are as vulnerable and raw as ever as they share their emotional journeys and continue to find true love beyond prison walls.

Meet The Couples:

Hope & Arthur (Dallas, TX)

Hope is a truck driver who seems to have a tough exterior, but has a soft side for her boyfriend, Arthur, who is currently behind bars. Although Hope and Arthur are in love, there are some trust issues they have to work through to make their relationship work. Hope was unfaithful to Arthur during his incarceration and he isn’t sticking around if that happens again.

Bianca & Daniel (Dania Beach, FL)

At 23 years old, Bianca was the victim of a DUI crash which nearly cost her her life. While she was in recovery, she decided to reach out to someone who committed the same crime she was a victim of to get more insight into why someone would drink and drive. But this penpal quickly turned into a fiancé.

Kimberly & Joey (Eden, NC)

A married mom of 2, Kim reached out to Joey to reconnect during her separation from her children’s father. Now with Joey getting released, they both try to keep their exes in the past, but Joey receives a suspicious message in prison claiming that Kim is cheating on him! Kim assures Joey it is a lie, but is baffled as to who is going out of their way to break up their relationship. Could it be her ex? Could it be his?

Shonta & True (Kansas City, MO)

Shonta & True began their love story on Love During Lockup Season 5, where we learned Shonta spent $40k and moved across state lines for someone she’s never met. In Love After Lockup, Shonta finally meets her fiancé, True, face-to-face for the first time at his release after spending 13 years in prison.

Zeruiah & Troy (Syracuse, NY)

Zeruiah is a pastor’s daughter who grew up in a strict household but started rebelling in her teens with the men she dated. Zeruiah’s ex-husband and son’s father was locked up and she wound up falling for his cell neighbor, Troy. She divorced her ex and married Troy. Although Zeruiah’s family is accepting of her relationship, they are still weary of it. Her parents feel that if Troy is going to be a part of the family, he needs to be a part of the Church.

Julian & Christine (Annapolis, MD)

The phrase ‘opposites attract’ fits perfectly when it comes to Julian and Christine. Julian, a conservative aspiring writer, found himself in an unexpected relationship when book research led him to the love of his life. When Julian reached out to Christine, an inmate locked up for bank robbery, he intended to get some insight for his book, but instead found a connection he never expected.

Latisha & Keith (Davenport, IA)

Latisha and Keith’s love story started in Love During Lockup Season 4F, and now with Keith meant to get out any day, Latisha is overjoyed for Love After Lockup. A recently-passed law could grant Keith an immediate release! Latisha can’t wait for Keith to get out and finally consummate their marriage!

The highly-anticipated new season of Love After Lockup premieres on WeTV Friday, July 26th at 9pm ET/8pm CT with 10 must-see 90-minute episodes.

We put on our fancy shoes and dropped on down to Disney’s ‘This Is Magic’ media event to preview long-waited attraction Tiana’s Bayou Adventure now open at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

While there, we soaked up good vibes on the magic-splashed ride, grooved to the spunky Soul of Tank & The Bangas, and with Princess Tiana herself Anika Noni Rose who reunited with The Princess And The Frog co-stars Jenifer Lewis, Keith David, Michael-Leon Wooley, Jennifer Cody, Bruno Campos, and Jim Cummings to experience the ride while commemorating the 15th Anniversary of the culture-shifting film.

Surrounded by authentic NOLA culture and wonder, we had a time at the Sunset Soirée where The Princess And The Frog cast and other special attendees including New Orleans Saints All-Pro Defensive lineman Cam Jordan and Tamron Hall revealed their dream Tiana’s Palace guests and more on the bustling press line.

Check out the super fun interviews below:

Along the way, Princess Tiana fans were treated to more than a few unforgettable moments including Jenifer Lewis seeing the Animatronic version of Mama Odie for the first time.

Another favorite of ours was the big ‘ole reveal of the ride’s opening date that trended across social media.

In a truly epic moment, Princess Tiana and Louis the Alligator celebrated the reveal in New Orleans with some festive friends, including 5-time Grammy-winner PJ Morton who, aside from writing “Special Spice”–a new song for the attraction’s finale, directed the famous New Orleans-based St. Augustine High School band in the video.

Other special guests at the big easy bash were members of New Orleans’ Dooky Chase Restaurant family whose iconic matriarch Leah Chase served as the inspiration behind Princess Tiana.

In the ride’s early stages, Disney imagineers traveled to New Orleans to capture the true essence of the Mardi Gras celebration–the energy, the colors, the rhythms of the music and more to infuse into the attraction.

First announced in 2020, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure picks up where the film left off with Princess Tiana, Naveen and jazz-loving alligator Louis preparing to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome.

According to its official site, Saint Lucia “comes alive from July 1-19 to the sound of Dennery segment, soca, calypso, and steelpan permeating through the streets.

Fete from dawn till nightfall with the best in local, regional, and international artists, to gear up for the road. Our culture goes on full parade with the wit of ole mas to the color and splendor of our costumes.

When a hustler named Chicken Man (Kevin Hart) hosts an afterparty to celebrate the fight with the country’s wealthiest playas, the night ends with the boldest criminal underworld heist in Atlanta’s history.

‘Suspected of masterminding the crime, Chicken Man is hellbent on clearing his name but must convince his old adversary, J.D. Gladiator 2 asset

Source: Paramount Pictures

Social media is buzzing over Denzel Washington bringing his signature New York bravado to ancient Rome in the glorious trailer for long-awaited sequel Gladiator II.

The iconic actor, 69, will portray a former slave-turned-powerbroker named Macrinus who recruits the gladiator of all gladiators as his instrument to overthrow the Roman empire.

“Denzel is an arms dealer who supplies food for the armies in Europe, supplies wine and oil, makes steel, makes spears, weapons, cannons, and catapults,” revealed Director Ridley Scott in an interview with Vanity Fair. “So he is a very wealthy man. Instead of having a stable of racehorses, he has a stable of gladiators. He’s beautiful. He drives a golden Ferrari. I got him a gold-plated chariot.”

Interestingly, the real-life Macrinus actually became Emperor of Rome after assassinating Caracalla (widely regarded as one of Rome’s cruelest leaders) in 217.

23 years after winning Best Picture at the Oscars, the epic Gladiator saga continues with a new titular character named Lucius (Paul Mescal) who’s forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist.

‘With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people,’ per the official synopsis.

Check out the epic trailer below:

Directed by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott, Gladiator II also stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, and more.

With Denzel stealing the show and Jay Z, Kanye and Frank Ocean smash hit ‘No Church In The Wild’ ringing off in the trailer, the upcoming blockbuster was immediately review bombed because, well, you know why.

At some point, you’d think even racists would take a break but no one works harder than bigots, trolls, and incels looking to be outraged.

Will you be seated for Gladiator II (roaring into theaters Nov. 22)? Tell us down below and peep the social media hysteria over Denzel from around the way bringing NY to Rome on the flip.

Eddie Murphy and Paige Butcher attend

Source: Variety / Getty

Eddie Murphy has walked down the aisle again.

The 63-year-old comedy legend and father of ten made it official with Australian model Paige Butcher after a six-year engagement. The couple were married in a private ceremony in Anguilla on July 9. Murphy was previously married to model and actress Nicole Murphy from 1993 to 2006.

Murphy and Butcher have been dating for 12 years and are parents to 8-year-old Izzy and 6-year old Max. Famously private about their relationship, the pair hit the red carpet together in 2023 at the Golden Globes Award and Murphy thanked her during his acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

All of Murphy’s children were in attendance at the nuptials, including his daughter-in-law Jasmin Lawrence, who is the eldest child of fellow comedian Martin Lawrence.

Murphy has been back in business making films, including reprising his role as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F for Netflix and prepping the first standalone film for Shrek’s Donkey which is slated to release after the fifth installation of the popular franchise comes to theaters.

What’s Next For Eddie Murphy?

Despite his legendary status, Murphy has managed to keep a relatively low profile. His last Netflix film, You People, which also starred Lauren London and Jonah Hillseemed to mark a relationship between the comedic giant and the streaming juggernaut with rumors of a $70 million deal and a new standup special on the table.

However, the deal appears to only cover the film projects he committed to thus far. In 2023, Murphy revealed that his eventual return to standup would be a little different than people expected.

“[It’s a] whole different world since the pandemic,” he said in an interview with Complex. “But my show won’t just be stand-up; my show will be music and stand-up. Because I can’t just get on the stage and just do jokes because I have all this other stuff now. I’m thinking about how to put together a live show that has everything.”

So far, he completed production on two of the three films he’s slated to release with Netflix. So maybe, we’re closer to a new Eddie Murphy standup than we think.

Congratulations to Eddie Murphy & Paige Butcher!

Ari and MoneyBagg Yo‘s relationship has been an emotional and public roller coaster, but the couple has remained steady. However, on Ari Fletcher’s birthday, her boo had fans questioning the strength of their relationship. And in true Ari fashion, she clapped back.

Ari recently celebrated her 29th birthday on July 12th. The social media influencer has been celebrating overseas. Moneybagg Yo joined her in Greece on her birthday and shared a birthday message on Instagram.

In the caption, he stated, “Happy BaggDay Queen. DaDa Love You.”

The post stirred up a little controversy for several reasons. Some social media users felt the message was too short and she deserved more after dating the rapper for five years.

According to TheShadeRoom, one Instagram user stated, “Each year the paragraphs get smaller.”

Other users were concerned with Ari potentially calling the rapper, “Dada,” as he mentioned in the caption. Some users came to her defense, while others found it a little weird.

An Instagram user stated, “Unpopular opinion on this app… calling a man daddy is weird to me.”

However, another user thought it was cute, “I call my husband Daddy. I think it’s cute.”

Nevertheless, the couple continued to post on social media, seemingly having a blast while on vacation, but not too much fun because Ari had time to clap back at social media users who had something negative to say about her relationship with MoneyBagg.

Ari Fletcher’s Birthday Takes A Pause As She Asks, ‘Whose The Cheater?’

A video of Ari entering a bedroom full of roses, balloons, and birthday decorations began circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter. One user quoted the video with a boldly back-handed compliment.

“Cheaters and dumb b***hes have the most aesthetically pleasing relationship moments for the media,” the X user stated.

The mother of one caught wind of the tweet and promptly responded with a question.

“Who’s the cheater, and who’s the dumb b***h?” she asked. “Poor slow miserable a** hoes always wanna have a moment. I live your dream life everyday. You the scum of the earth itching for a viral moment. The only attention you ever got in life is this moment right here! My birthday 10/10,” she continued.

Though Ari is known to win arguments with social media users due to them being “broke and ugly,” fans are not bothered. As you may recall, both Ari and MoneyBagg have opened up about the rapper’s infidelity during their relationship, and users are not letting her forget it.

An X user even provided proof, “I mean he told the world he cheated and then you confirmed it.”

Another user laid out plain and simple things for Ari.

Other users pointed out that if Ari was having such a good time on social media, she would not have time to argue on X. As one user stated, she would have most likely had to search her name to know what people were saying.

Some fans thought it was inappropriate to talk about MoneyBagg Yo’s infidelity on her birthday.

Ari nor MoneyBaggYo has not responded to the backlash. They are seemingly enjoying Ari Fletcher’s birthday in Greece.

Monét, who co-headlined this year’s Essence Fest concert with Janet Jackson, could be seen vibing with Mýa who headlined AT&T’s Dream in Black connected stage in the bustling Convention Center.

“Right off the bat, I thought it was an interesting idea, the Dream in Black [platform] celebrating Black culture,” said Mýa in an interview with Adweek.

“And New Orleans itself is a beautiful place with so much culture and a place that everyone comes to. It’s also Essence’s 30th celebration, a huge milestone. I love being a part of cultural events. All the aspects of Essence Fest—I love what it stands for. It’s motivating, it’s inspiring, it’s empowering.”

Naturally, everybody from Luke James to Lance Gross made their way over to Mýa who’s still very much that girl nearly 30 years after her R&B reign.

In an interview with Essence GU, the proud vegan and self-care advocate shared some of her beauty secrets that keep her looking ageless.

“As far as skincare, I use natural products,” she revealed. “I use African black soap from Ghana. I also use shea butter as a natural sunblock if I plan on being in the sun [and also] for daily moisturization. I save my peels on my papayas and my mangoes. The papaya peel is a natural moisturizer, I use the mango peel as a skin tightening mask for about 10-15 minutes. So I just use everything natural on my face – I use lemon as astringent, too.”

SZA performs at 2024 Dreamville Music Festival

Source: Astrida Valigorsky / Getty

SZA is keeping it real about keeping a man, and just like her music, it’s some seriously relatable content. Honestly, same, sis!

The “Snooze” singer sat down for an honest episode of Chicken Shop Date and shared some insight into why she feels she can easily attract men but isn’t able to keep their interest.

“Yeah I feel like I can catch ’em but I cannot keep ’em. They get with me and then they realize I’m f***ing weird and then they’re like ‘Alright’,” she said.

“The butt makes it seem like it’s normal. On the outside, I want to shake a** and do all the normal things. But I also wanna just…I wanna swim in the swamp and I wanna like collect methane gas with my man. That’s my type of s***.”

She also gave host Amelia Dimoldenberg some tips on how to be more flexible.

“You need a catalyst. Like somebody to do it for you.”

Dimoldenberg seemed a bit confused by SZA‘s suggestions and the TDE artist said what everyone was thinking,

“Why else would your legs be over your head?”

Well, the men who are passing on SZA’s weirdness may want to reconsider what they’re leaving on the table.

SZA also recently hung out with GOAT-ed gymnast Simone Biles ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics to talk about her athletic past and why she chose music over gymnastics.

“When it was clear to me that I wasn’t going to be a national gymnast I was like ‘ok let me see what I can do,’” she said.

The wholesome hang-out also included SZA and Biles competing in a handstand competition while giggling like old girlfriends. And it wouldn’t be a hang between two magical Black girls without some love being spread.

“This was my dream to talk to you,” SZA told Simone, “You’re like my wildest dreams. I have never seen anything like you, no one has, but it’s just like ‘wow’.”

Adorable.

Justin Timberlake x Tiger Woods

Source: Sag Harbor Police Department/Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office / Getty

Justin Timberlake and Tiger Woods are taking their talents across the pond to Scotland to open a new location of their popular T-Squared Social Sports Bar, but social media renamed it “D.U.I.-Fridays.”

The pair plans to build on the success of the New York location of their joint venture. Ironically, the announcement comes on the heels of Timberlake’s Juneteenth DUI arrest. The jokes are writing themselves, truly.

Woods was also arrested for driving under the influence back in 2017. It seems like the two celebs know a little something about keeping the party going.

The new T-Squared Social Sports Bar will be located in St. Andrews, Scotland in a space that was once a historic movie theater, Rolling Stone reports. As a high-end take on guys’ night out, customers can enjoy sports simulators, dining, bowling, darts and, of course, drinking. Two of the theater’s original screens will remain intact at the landmark, however.

“We are taking great care to preserve and celebrate the historic architecture and design of the theatre and continue its tradition of showcasing great films,” said CEO Christopher Anand, who mans the development company in charge of the project,  Nexus Luxury Collection.

For those still wondering how Scotland came into the picture; St. Andrews is said to be “the home of golf.” It also hosts the oldest golf championship in the world, The Open Championship. Woods has won The Open three times during his illustrious reign as the king of golf in 2000, 2005, and 2006.

We’re not sure what significance it holds for JT, but maybe he has some Scottish blood in there somewhere. The pop singer seemed relatively unbothered by his arrest last month. He continued on with his Forget Tomorrow World Tour despite his concerns about the incident ruining it.

On the heels of this news, we’ve been working on some slogans for JT and Tiger’s newest venture. Here’s one: swing on by and leave with a DUI. It eats!

One of the best watches on streaming this month has to be the new Netflix superpowered series Supacell.

Rapman Says ‘Supacell’ Reflects How Normal People Would Behave With Powers

If you haven’t seen it yet, the series follows a group of seemingly ordinary people from South London who unexpectedly develop super powers. As they deal with the impact on their daily lives, one man has to bring them together to protect the woman he loves, all while avoiding the powerful and nefarious agents who have noticed their special abilities.

BOSSIP caught up with Supacell’s writer and director Rapman about the series and what inspired him.

“I love the sci-fi genre, in the sense of the superpower genre,” Rapman told BOSSIP. “I loved ‘Heroes,’ I liked a lot of the Marvel and DC stuff, but I never saw a show I felt fit someone like myself. If I get powers I don’t want to wear spandex and a mask and stop a bridge from falling. I want to sort out my life and my families life first, and then maybe later we can cure world hunger and the rest of it. So it’s just about normal people, because if normal people get powers they’re not thinking about saving the world first. They’re trying to sort out their situation and there was never a show like that. I got tired of waiting. I’m in a position where I can get this done and then next thing you know we’ve got Supacell.

‘SUPACELL’ Creator Rapman Says For Every Story He Writes, The Motivation Has To Make Sense

Michael Lasaki and his fiancé Dionne’s love story is central to the plot of Supacell, but the other people with power, Andre, Rodney, Tazer and Sabrina, are all motivated by their love for their friends and family as well. It’s no surprise that Rapman told us that love was a vital part of the fabric that made Supacell.

“The one factor that drives all of us is love,” Rapman told BOSSIP. “It doesn’t have to be love for your partner, it could be love for your child, it could be love for your sibling, it could even be love for your work. Honestly it sounds so cheesy but I think love does make the world go around, because I think every decision we make is based on the love of something or someone. Every time I write any story the motivation has to make sense. No one is going to go to all of them lengths for something that they’re not completely passionate about, so I had to put in things that I knew – love of a father for his son, sister for sister partner for his fiancé, things like that. I had to make sense and I just believe it when I watch it, even though I created it. I believe all of their reasons for doing what they’re doing and I think that’s important, because it doesn’t matter if you’re in the States, I’m in the UK, I’m sure you can resonate with everything that they’re fighting for individually.”

Rapman Says ‘SUPACELL’ Reflects The Real South London

Considering the global impact of films like Marvel’s Black Panther and Wakanda Forever and the international reach of Netflix, we had to ask Rapman about potentially making South London the new Wakanda.

“I’ve been watching superhero stuff since I was a kid and it’s always set in New York, it’s always a big drama in New York, and I love New York but London is a crazy city as well,” Rapman told BOSSIP. “It’s like why are we not portraying that more? So for me I want people from the States, I want people in Africa, I want people in other parts of Europe, to really be like, ‘Oh that’s what it’s like in London! That’s the Black experience in London.’ That’s what London is really like, because how you see the parties, the music they listen to [in Supacell], that is literally South London. The only thing that you see made-up there is the powers, but everything else is the British experience as a Black person in the United Kingdom. So I’m hoping that it’s like an education for people that don’t know what it’s like. I’m really excited. A Wakanda moment? I would love that, so here’s to hoping!

Supacell key art and production stills

Source: Courtesy / Netflix

One thing about movies with superpowers is that special effects are a must! Supacell does a great job of delivering believable stunts and Rapman said

“One of the main things I said when I signed on to do this Netflix show with them, I remember saying to the commissioners, ‘The VFX need to be good,’ and it was like a funny thing, like everything sounds good, ‘Like look I’m down, but the VFX — if the VFX look bad, the show gets pulled down with it,’” Rapman recalled. “They were like, ‘Don’t worry you’re going to get everything you want.’ I asked that so early on so when we were going back and forth for the VFX there was always a lot of leeway, because that’s all they remember me saying four years ago. The show probably looks a lot more expensive than the budget we actually had. So they tried their best to let me do as good as I could do it. It’s a hard process because you gotta tell the head of VFX, ‘I want it to look like this — mad lasers…’ and it’s like, ‘How do they describe that?’ It’s in your head, but you don’t know how to get it down to them, so that was actually a tough process. People are really big critics on VFX nowadays and I just hope people will be gentle with us. We tried our best.”

SUPACELL is streaming on Netflix now.
