Young Thug Cover The Fader’s 20th Anniversary Issue

After what feels like a lifetime of waiting for new music from Young Thug, the slime god is back, better and doing big things. Thugga graced the cover of The Fader’s 20th anniversary issue fresh off the heels of dropping his highly anticipated debut album So Much Fun. Fader shared some of the hot shots from the spread on Wednesday, and it’s safe to say that Thug and all his unconventional-ness is back to reclaim his rightful place eccentric trap throne.

The ATL rapper dished on everything from his year long break from music, to his influence in hip hop.

“I feel like I started a lot of things. [But] I don’t try to downplay nobody career. I ain’t make they career, I just made a lot of people not be scared to be them. I just like to see people do what they want to do.”

Thug even opened up about the unreleased Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan tracks that were leaked across the internet, telling the mag:

“I feel good about [the leaks]…I probably never would have put [the leaked songs] out, so I’m just happy that they was out.”

Young Thug’s cover story is the first of two featured in the The FADER’s 20th anniversary issue. The mag teamed up with Vinyl Me, Please and Goose Island Beer Company to offer a special artist compilation vinyl bundle featuring some of our favorite artist releases from the year including tracks from Young Thug and many more. The FADER’s 20th anniversary issue is available for pre-order on The FADER’s here.

Normani

Source: Splash News / Splash News

Last week, Normani had folks buzzing with her colorful music video for her song “Motivation.” With the 2000s references, the bonkers choreography and the joyous vibes, many people had nothing but praise for the rising star.

Not too soon after the video was released, fans couldn’t help but zone in on a particular scene where Normani effortlessly bounces a ball off her knee, onto her butt, then into a helpless nearby pedestrian.

It was epic.

Peep the magic again at the 1:55 mark below.

[embedded content]

Now granted, the chances of Normani mastering such a move is highly unlikely. I mean….she could, considering her high level of athleticism and overall slayage. But some neat editing tricks could’ve done the job.

Regardless of whether the move was real life or music video magic, of course, folks on the Internet tried the stunt and for some people, it didn’t go too well.

Some people didn’t even bother playing with balls and chose another medium to demonstrate their craft.

Wigs went flying.

Then, there were those who hoped the challenge would move in a new direction…like using their hind parts to dribble the ball.

But finally, someone executed the challenge with skill, despite a sloppy presentation.

T.V. host Hunter March had to stunt in front of eeeveryone and bounce the ball into a nearby net.

Show off.

Normani seemed to be here for it.

*Sigh,* competition over.

FILM 'THE MATRIX' BY ANDY AND LARRY WACHOWSKI

Source: Ronald Siemoneit / Getty

The Matrix is making a comeback and most of the all-star players are involved (thankfully!).

According to Variety, Lana Wachowski will write and direct the upcoming Matrix 4. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will also be reprising their roles of Neo and Trinity.

The flick will be produced and globally distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures. The chairman of Warner Bros. Picture Group, Toby Emmerich, explained on Tuesday:

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana. Lana is a true visionary—a singular and original creative filmmaker—and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”

Along with Wachowski, Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell will also serve as writers. Wachowski is also producing with Grant Hill. Sources say the movie is set to start production in the beginning of 2020.

The three previous Matrix films — The Matrix, The Matrix: Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions — made a combined profit of more than $1.6 billion at the global box office. All three were written and directed by Lana and her sister, Lilly Wachowski.

“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends,” Lana Wachowski said.

We’ll keep you posted as more info surfaces!

tameka foster

Source: amanda edwards / Getty

Many may know Tameka Foster as a stylist to the stars and Usher Raymond‘s ex-wife — but contrary to popular belief the entrepreneur has much more to offer the world. Foster and her sons have developed an animated series in honor of her late son, Kile Glover, who passed away in 2012 after a tragic jet ski incident.

[embedded content]

The series, entitled THE ODD LIFE OF KILE LYLES, is a ten episode 3D animated show that centers around Kile, a young boy living a normal life by day and saving the world before bedtime. We spoke with Tameka about her upcoming project and she didn’t hold anything back — especially when it comes to public support (or lack thereof).

“The hardest part about crowdfunding is that people will click and like something, but won’t donate. If each one of my 148,000 followers would donate as little as a dollar, the first episode would be funded.”

Before deciding to fund the first episode herself, Tameka met with folks at Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon (Kile’s favorite channels), and neither network fully understood the vision of what Tameka had in mind for The Odd Life.

“I don’t think they’re ready for this. I sat with Nickelodeon and I love them, but they don’t even have programs that’s even along the lines of what I’m doing. This is a little bit next level.”

So the passionate mom is taking the 2019 creative route, and relying on her fans and followers to support the project. But things haven’t been smooth sailing for the momtrepreneur.

“I feel like there’s a stigma about me because of [Usher]. People see me a certain way because of my ex husband. They think I’m just this rich person that doesn’t need anything. It costs $140,000 to make one episode and $1.4 million to do the whole season. [The campaign] has been up for two weeks, and we still haven’t met our goal. It’s a little discouraging. 3D animation is expensive.”

There’s not much representation of young, Black children in animation, which makes Tameka Foster ahead of the curve. The Odd Life Of Kile Lyles isn’t just an animated series, neither.

“There will be lots of teachable moments. We’re gonna touch on current issues. Like immigration. Kile’s best friend in the show is a girl name dream. People tease her and make fun of her name, and then she has to explain to them that her name is dream because her family were dreamers who dreamed of a better life in America.”

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon - Season 5

Gabrielle Union might find love outside her race thanks to a new flick she’s producing and starring in.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Union is partnering with writer and director Chester Tam for a new untitled romantic comedy that follows the relationship of a newly single African-American woman and a recently divorced Asian-American man.

Tam, who’s known for writing and directing the Netflix movie Take the 10, is also set to write and direct this movie. Though details are still limited, the story is supposed to show how a drunken one-night stand leads to a secret relationship that eventually goes public. The friends and family of the two leads are filled with surprise considering their dating history. The story is said to be inspired by a real-life relationship Tam experienced.

Union will produce with Holly Shakoor Fleischer alongside Tam and Trevor Engelson. There’s no word yet on who will play Union’s Asian-American love interest.

Screen Gems is the company behind the film. They secured the spec script that Union has been developing with Tam for more than a year now.

Some folks pointed out that this isn’t the first time a Gabrielle Union character has been in a relationship with a Asian-American guy. In the 2009 ABC sci-fi show Flashforward, Union’s character Zoey Andata was in a romantic relationship with John Cho‘s Demetri Noh.

Naturally, fans of Flashforward are hoping that Cho will get the lead role in this Chester Tam flick.

Union definitely wasn’t opposed to the idea.

We’ll find out what happens!

Until then, if you want a taste of Tam’s past work, you can check out his flick Take the 10 on Netflix.

Ruff Ryders And Friends - Reunion Tour - Past, Present And Future

Source: John Lamparski / Getty

Let’s face it…

DMX‘s voice will forever be stamped in hip hop history thanks to his signature catch phrases (“WHAT!”), impromptu growling and off-kilter cover songs. Even in 2019, people are still celebrating a memorable moment from his 2000 hit, “What They Really Want” featuring Sisqo.

Right off of DMX’s 1999 album And Then There Was X, the song has a signature breakdown in the second verse when DMX lists all the women he’s supposedly had a fling with.

And the list is looooong.

[embedded content]

Considering all these ladies came with their own personalities, some women on the Internet thought it would be fun to match a different hairstyle with the names of the ladies DMX listed. Whether braids, short cuts or a colorful wig, there’s clearly multiple hairstyles to match with Brenda, LaTisha, Linda, Felicia, and all the rest of them.

Thus, the #DMXChallenge was born.

Some folks didn’t even limit the challenge to hair. Full get-ups were showcased thanks to DMX’s varying tastes.

Black women were getting all the praise for showcasing their many styles of beauty. I mean truly, if anyone can pull off any look, it’s most likely a Black woman.

But of course, when some people saw the #DMXChallenge, they thought it was going to be something totally different….like a detailed montage of growling dogs.

But in the end, there were those who were just thankful for the inspiration Black women were serving.

Thank you Black women, DMX, and the ladies who dealt with him.

'Wake Up Call' To Kick Off The Back To School Season With Shaquille O'Neal

Source: Slaven Vlasic / Getty

Anything goes on television nowadays — even if you’re a respectable sports analyst.

Remember when Shaquille O’Neal took funny and gross to the another level on Inside the NBA back in 2017 when he took off his shoe and revealed his shockingly gruesome foot. The guys on the panel nearly barfed. Ernie Johnson said Shaq’s foot looked like “a potato and four toes.” Brace yourself and see below.

[embedded content]

Surprisingly, the former NBA star’s arch nemesis Charles Barkley didn’t go in on him too much; but the Internet sure did:

Apparently, Shaq’s feet are what happens when you win four championship rings, but even he has to know his feet are gross as f**k. This isn’t the first time he’s proudly bared his twisted toes. Last Summer, he had the Internet LOL’ing after he posted a pic of his foot donned in electric blue nail polish.

Clearly, Shaq is in on the joke with everyone else. He even got a pedicure, LIVE with Michael Strahan and Sara Haines on Good Morning America back in January.

We still ride hard for, Shaq! Happy National ‘I Love My Feet’ Day.

Jake hooked them up with a custom-made industrial style wooden desk while Jazz modernized the space with dramatic textures, wood accents and earth tones combined with African art and artifacts. It wouldn’t be “Living By Design” without a post-reveal meal. In this episode, Jake whipped up some Lobster Scampi with a Champagne Sauce topped with Seared Scallops, while Jazz added some fun to the meal with chewy Oatmeal Raisin Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches.

See how the Smolletts blend international flavors into their next dream home makeover on the season finale od Living By Design when it airs Saturday, August 17th on Cleo TV. Check out the preview above.

Animation has always served as a getaway for kids and adults alike seeking to escape the harsh realities of “live action.”

Interestingly enough, whole fanbases have developed for certain franchises, to the point where imaginary characters have become full-on sex symbols.

While some might think that the animated world is very White (it still very much is), there are plenty of Black characters that’ve developed a reputation for their chiseled looks and brolic features. Some of these heroes and villains have been voiced by Black men who are treasured hotties from the ’90s and 2000s.

Hit the flip for some eye-candy that melted hearts in the flesh and sizzled microphones in the voice-acting world.
