It’s official.

Keke Palmer was announced as the third co-host of the third hour of Good Morning America!

Palmer started as a guest co-host on GMA: Strahan and Sara when Sara Haines went on maternity leave. She soon started appearing regularly and her kinetic energy and infectious personality were undeniable. Eventually, rumors started swirling that Keke would be added as a regular co-host on Strahan and Sara.

Now, it seems contracts have been signed and dressing rooms furnished because Michael Strahan and Sara Haines announced on Monday that Keke is a permanent co-host and the show will be renamed GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke!

According to Shadow and Act, the executive producer of the show, Rory Albanese, said:

“It’s been a blast having Keke co-host this summer. She brings an unique and spontaneous energy viewers love. She’s a multitalented artist, and I’m thrilled to have her join Michael and Sara every day. The three of them are a terrific team, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Though this might be some of America’s first exposure to Keke’s hosting abilities, the 26-year-old actress, singer and media personality has had plenty of practice.

Whether leading a conversation or going toe-to-toe with some of T.V. and radio’s biggest personalities, Keke was born to do this hosting thang.

Hit the next pages for some of her best moments!

Cardi B packed the house, yet again, with a fire performance at KAOS nightclub on Saturday to a sold-out sea of the Bardi gang. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper wore a barely there sparkly black one-piece and thigh-high Louboutins for her first song, then immediately took off those sky-high heeled-boots and thugged it out barefoot for the rest of her set.

The rapper’s fellow chart-topping hubby Offset joined her on stage for their “Clout” duet, where the couple shared a mean tongue down on stage at the end of the song. Cardi also did a photocall with her “Hustlers” castmates in California, hit the flip for those pics.

Rising Star Chef Omar Tate Wants To Inform & Inspire Through Cooking

Chef Omar Tate is using food to showcase black culture, one meal at a time.

Philadelphia native Tate spent more than 10 years in fine dining establishments, including a Michelin starred restaurant and with the likes of “Top Chef’s” Tom Colicchio.

But after working in white male-dominated kitchens, Tate said he became inspired to create his own unique culinary narrative that pays homage to the Black Experience. He founded the “Honeysuckle” pop up dinner series where he aims to explore African-American heritage through food.

“I use Honeysuckle as a platform to discuss ideas of blackness through food, using art, history and literature to inform those ideas,” Tate said, adding, “We have so much to offer without looking at a piece of fried chicken.”

Visit Philadelphia and the African-American Museum in Philadelphia partnered with the talented young chef for a tasting event and a fundraiser last week at the Farm Neck Country Club in Martha’s Vineyard.

At the benefit, Tate served a crab salad garnished with a sunflower seed puree that washed down with cocktails from black-owned whiskey company Uncle Nearest. He said that the dish was inspired by his memories of hanging out on his stoop as a kid with his family, eating crab and sunflower seeds.

“We all look at food to inform ourselves about the person next to us, Tate said. “And as black people, with all the stigmas around our food, I (want to) use us to define our food and not have our food define us.”

This year’s event theme, “Telling Our Story Through Food,” was one of the ways that the African American Museum works to keep the city’s cultural landscape vibrant, according to museum head Patricia Wilson.

“We’re not only about history, Wilson said. “We are about the now and the future….connecting the food traditions of the South and what’s going on today.”

Museum board member Mike Horsey implored the crowd to support the Smithsonian-affiliated institution for its work in the community and particularly with children.

“Those of you who have gone to HBCU’s understand the need to support our institutions, because of the impact they have on our children. The African-American Museum does a lot in our community…and we need to make sure that this organization is sustained and maintained.”

Just when you thought President Obama couldn’t get any cooler, he does.

Summer’s almost over but the former Head Of State dropped his 2019 Summer Playlist, and it further proves he’s still the coolest guy on the planet.

Lizzo‘s “Juice” made it to number six on the list and the “Truth Hurts” singer couldn’t be happier. Just hours before the dope playlist dropped, she spoke out about how Barack Obama was the first President she ever voted for, tweeting,

“The first President I could ever vote for was Obama. I was so proud of my right to vote and I will never take it for granted. I love us. I’m not sure who I’m voting for yet, but it for damn sure isn’t Trump.”

And one hour later, her entire life was made.

I TWEETED THIS AT 10:26AM AND ONE HOUR LATER PRESIDENT @BarackObama TWEETED ABOUT ME!!! WE’RE FRIENDS NOW I DONT MAKE THE RULES!!!

Long story short, dreams do come true. And Barack Obama is still in the know.

@Fpxmanmusic: So cool that the #Obama’s share their #playlist. Such a classy couple. Can tell that they love each other and have a lot of fun together.

Thanks BO for the Summer tunes. Are any of these on your 2019 playlist?

Dyllón Burnside

Source: Splash News / Splash News

*Spoilers below*

On Tuesday, season two of FX’s Pose came to an end, and out of all the characters, Ricky has definitely had one of the best character arcs.

[embedded content]

When Ricky (played by Dyllón Burnside) first appeared in season one, he was a suave dancer who Blanca, a House Mother, took in from the streets to join her House of Evangelista. From his first flirty interaction with Damon (also an Evangelista member), I viewed him as just another smooth talker who would surely break Damon’s heart.

To be honest, I thought he wouldn’t make it to episode three.

However, Ricky and Damon went on to have a committed relationship that unfortunately ended when Damon accused Ricky of cheating on him in season two. Ricky left the house of Evangelista and joined Elektra’s House of Wintour.

[embedded content]

What makes Ricky’s character so interesting is that he constantly went against expectation that society, and I myself, put on Black men. In his debut scene, I assumed he was just another masculine heartbreaker who was only there for eye candy and a steamy sex scene.

However, throughout season one, he proved he had the discipline to not only walk in a House, but to also maintain a relationship with Damon. Despite their eventual breakup, it was refreshing to watch two Black gay men be in a committed relationship, which unfortunately is a rarity on T.V.

In season two, Ricky also explored all the different sides of himself, flipping any limiting expectations about masculinity. He sashayed and twirled for the gawds in a “Butch Queen Vogue Femme” category. Then, in the last episode of season two, he got all dolled up and pretty for the “Butch Queen First Time In Drag” category. His wig was secured, his heels were in place and his makeup was set.

If you didn’t think Ricky’s life was full enough, the guy did all this while coping with news that he had HIV. He also began a serious relationship with a much older HIV positive man (Billy Porter‘s character Pray Tell), further reflecting his potential to love and stay committed.

Clearly, this is not the same smooth talker we were first introduced to in season one.

Pose continually shows the vastness of queer and trans people. It’s especially comforting to witness a Black man who not only explores his romantic relationships with other Black men, but he also explores himself and how his gender flows between femininity and masculinity.

Hopefully, in season three, we’ll continue to follow Ricky’s journey and how his sexuality, identity and relationships pan out when HIV is still stigmatized and Black boys are still perceived with rigid expectations.

The Wire‘s Michael K. Williams and actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw of Beyond The Lights fame are taking on the mystery genre thanks to their upcoming movie Motherless Brooklyn.

The movie was written and directed by Edward Norton and includes an all-star cast of Bruce Willis, Alec Baldwin and Norton himself. Set in 1950s New York, the movie follows a private detective with Tourette Syndrome, Lionel Essrog, who seeks to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend, Frank Minna (Bruce Willis). Essrog’s investigation causes him to unravel secrets that lead him to the gin-soaked jazz clubs of Harlem, to the rough slums of Brooklyn and finally, to the privileged halls of New York’s power brokers.

It definitely seems like it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. Check out the trailer above and you can mark your calendar for a November 29 release!

If you need a little bit of satire in your life, especially in these dark times of domestic and international terrorism, IFC Films just released the trailer for the satirical movie The Day Shall Come. The flick is helmed by comedian Chris Morris and stars newcomer Marchánt Davis, Anna Kendrick and Daniele Brooks. The official description reads:

“Moses Al Shabaz (Marchánt Davis) is a small-time Miami street preacher whose far-fetched revolutionary ideas find unexpected legitimacy when a Middle Eastern terrorist organization offers to help fund his dream of overthrowing the US government. The problem? His backer is the US government and it’s all part of an elaborate scheme to entrap Moses and make his arrest the latest national security “win.” But when Moses doesn’t take the bait, FBI agent Kendra Glack (Anna Kendrick) must resort to increasingly outlandish—and risky—lengths to get her man.”

The flick is sure to be a riot with some pointed commentary. You can check out the comedic, action-packed trailer above and watch out for the movie when it hits certain theaters and VOD on September 27!

Ghosting – (noun) gradually or quickly “disappearing” from a relationship (i.g. not responding to text messages, standing people up on dates, etc.)

If you haven’t been ghosted before, may God continue to have mercy on your soul.

But if you’re continually out here in this dating game, you know the bitter fruits of ghosting and suddenly getting ignored by the one you love (sure you might not love them, but ya’ll might as well be in a committed relationship if you’ve been talking for two weeks, right?)

If we’re to get realer than real, many of us have been on the other end of ghosting. Some of us have slowly creeped out of the lives of people we’ve been dating out of self-preservation, disinterest or just plain ain’t sh**-ness.

Well now, MTV thought it would be a bright idea to make a show about all this.

According to Shadow and Act, MTV is bringing to a screen near you Ghosted: Love Gone Missing. It will be hosted by singer/actor Travis Mills and the first Black Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay. The hosts will help distraught individuals track down and confront family members, friends and former lovers who left them hanging. The goal is to get to the bottom of why these people chucked the deuces, leaving folks devastated and dismayed. The eight episode series will explore how social media caused us to be more connected than ever, yet still undercuts communication and connection.

Whew!

So MTV is basically coming for our entire lives.

Cool.

The show will premiere with back-to-back episodes on September 10 at 9 p.m. E.T.

May all the excuses be valid and honest.
