T.I. hit the stage last night at Barclays Center not to perform but to put on a comedy show and let’s just say the crowd wasn’t feeling “comedian” Tip.
April Fools Comedy Jam made its way to Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, featuring comedians Rip Micheals, Nick Cannon, HaHa Davis, Eddie Griffin, B. Simone, Tony Roberts, Bruce Bruce, Michael Blackson, Joe Torry, and Jacob Williams, plus performances by Lil’ Kim, T.I., Moneybagg Yo, and music by DJ Envy.
When T.I. took the stage many in the crowd assumed he would be performing some of his greatest hits but Mr. Harris switch things up and hit them with jokes instead. Well, the jokes lead to him getting booed off stage and soon enough T.I. went viral again.
T.I. spoke to Michael Blackson after the performance on Instagram live. He made it very clear that he did initially receive boos, but claimed that he turned it around and walked off to a standing ovation after winning the crowd over.
“Man, listen, bro. I had the greatest time. I had the best set of my comic career. I enjoyed myself, bro. I love that sh*t. What I will say is a motherf*cker went into some sh*t thinking it was going to go a certain way, had to make adjustments, and then turned that sh*t around and got the f*ck out of there. I love that sh*t, bro. I love that sh*t. I’m here for that.”
Several celebrities chimed in on The Shade Room’s IG post leaving their respective opinions. Nelly commented and said, “Tell me what comedian hasn’t got booed….? Apart of earning ya stripes… that’s apart of entertainment… period..”
Tank joined the conversation and said, “Those kinds of crowds wanna hear you do what they know you for. He has to build a set that involves his music and comedy.. He’ll be fine. Speaking from experience..🙏🏾”
There hasn’t been any videos posted of him receiving a standing ovation yet but T.I. admitted that he understands that sometimes a crowd can turn. As a headstrong Libra we’re sure T.I. will continue to work at his craft of comedy and maybe one day he’ll impress crowds all over with his jokes.

The Emmy award-winning, history-making, and rule-breaking A Black Lady Sketch Show returned to HBO on Friday with a hilarious season 3 premiere. Series creator, showrunner, executive producer, writer, and star Robin Thede discussed the “epic” new season and its 40+ guest stars with Entertainment Tonight on Thursday.
“I’m living my dream. I’m making the show I’ve always wanted to make and the show that I’ve been preparing for three decades to make,” Thede said about the first-of-its-kind comedy show.
“I know I have a good team, and so, everyone around us is deadset on the same goal and that’s to make every season bigger and better than the last. I know we have done that with season 3.”
The ABLSS team features Gabrielle Dennis, Ashley Nicole Black, and new cast member Skye Townsend, but these aren’t the only familiar faces we can look forward to spotting. The new season starts with cameos from Holly Robinson Pete, Jamelle Hill and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez putting a Black lady twist on The Purge for the one time a year hair products that don’t work can be returned for full price. In the epic rush to the beauty supply store, Kyla Pratt gives us the episode’s ridiculously funny title, “Save my edges, I’m a donor!”
“We get to see sketches that are coming back, not only from season 2 but from season 1 that we haven’t seen,” she added about the Issa Rae-produced variety show. “So we get to see the funeral ball with Bob the Drag Queen and we’ll get to see a number of things that are in homage for characters we have known and loved for the past seasons, but also just giving love to the audience who stuck with us and waited so long to see these six episodes every year.”
In addition to appearances by Wanda Sykes, David Alan Grier, Kel Mitchell, and Michael Ealy, can look forward to the return of fan-favorite characters like Thede’s blonde hoteptress Dr. Hadassah Olayinka Ali-Youngman, Pre-PhD, and Black’s invisible super-spy, Trinity. Thede even recruited Ava DuVernay for more of the chaotic comedy.
“I am in awe of every single one of them,” the creator said about her long list of guest stars. “I’m so excited to see them — I mean, who thought Ava DuVernay would do a sketch? She was essentially playing a heightened version of herself but she had an hour to come shoot with us. I was like, ‘I got you, don’t worry.’”
“And she was like, ‘There are only two sentences in the script.’ I was like, ‘We’ll make more of it. It’s fine.’ And literally on set, I’m just yelling out jokes. I’m like, ‘Say this.’ She was like, ‘I would only do this for you. You are chaotic.’ And it was great. She’s amazing.”
Thede and her trailblazing team promise a lot more authenticity and absurdity in the bigger and better new season. Tune to new episodes of A Black Lady Sketch Show on Fridays at11 p.m. ET/PT. and streaming on HBO Max.
After he spent damn near as much time in court as the judge who sentenced him to 5 months in jail, Jussie Smollett has every reason to thank a higher power for his (temporary) freedom.
Instead of saving that for his prayers, TMZ reports the former Empire star addressed his court case and maintained his innocence on his new R&B song, “Thank You God.”
In what sounds like his best Drake impression, Jussie’s verses on the track speak out for the first time since he was released from jail a few weeks ago. He was sentenced to 150 days behind bars and 30 months of probation for “selfishly, arrogantly and narcissistically” staging the hate crime he reported to the police in 2019. Check out part of the song Jussie posted to his Instagram on Friday.
“It’s like they’re hell-bent on not solving the crime / Taking out the elements of race and trans and homophobia that’s straight taking lives / But turn around and act like I’m the one that killed the strides,” he rapped over a soulful beat.
“I can’t be mad / Take my ego out / Some people searching for fame / Some people chasing that clout / Just remember this, this ain’t that situation / You think I’m stupid enough to kill my reputation?”
Jussie still claims that he is one of many victims of our (in)justice system, but nothing makes someone look guilty as invoking God and dropping a gospel-inspired song. Just look at artists like R. Kelly and Kanye, who took us to church when their reputation started going to hell. On “Thank You God,” a gospel choir sings “Thank you God for showing me my enemies.”
According to the caption on Instagram, 100% of the profits will be donated to the Rainbow Push Coalition, the Illinois Innocence Project, and Secure The Bag (STB) Safety. Jussie will remain on release from Cook County Jail while his legal team fights to get his conviction overturned because they claim was tried for the same crime twice and his constitutional rights were violated during the trial.
What do you think of Jussie’s new song?
Is it a catchy injustice bop or an unnecessary flop?
