The family of a 9-year-old who died at Astroworld is calling out Travis Scott for his latest purchase of a $5.5 million luxury car.

During an interview with TMZ, Bill Hillard, the family’s attorney, said “Ezra would still be alive today, enjoying his summer, if Travis would’ve spent half of what he paid for the Bugatti on simple safety measures at the deadly music festival.” Both the family and attorney simply believe it’s just not a good look.

We reported last year how Ezra was one of the 10 victims who were trampled at Astroworld. His family sued Travis before he died from his injuries and now Ezra’s family is criticizing Travis for his recent purchase.

Travis treated himself to an all new Bugatti Veyron Chiron Super Sport despite the mountain of lawsuits he’s facing. Ezra’s attorney believes Travis has every right to live life as he sees fit, including buying what he wants, however Hillard deems Travis’ choices as “excessive” and says everything Travis does should be questioned because of what happened at Astroworld.

At this moment no one from Travis’ team has released a statement. Do you think Travis’ purchase was inconsiderate and excessive? Let us know your thoughts below.

Ceasar Emanuel Press Conference To Address Social Media Attacks

Black Ink Crew’s Ceaser Emanuel is back in the spotlight and once again, it’s for all the wrong reasons. VH1 announced his termination after a video of him allegedly abusing two dogs went viral. TMZ reports Ceaser regrets his actions but said he’s “being set up” by whoever leaked the footage of the incidents.

On Wednesday, a video surfaced showing Ceaser brutally handling his two dogs. In one clip, he repeatedly hit a dog with a folding chair. In another, he threw a different dog several feet before he locked it in a cage and pushed it downhill.

“We have made the decision to cut ties with Ceaser Emanuel from Black Ink Crew New York,” VH1 announced in a statement on Thursday. “Since next season was close to finishing production, this decision will not impact the upcoming season.”

Ceaser responded to the backlash, saying that someone maliciously leaked this footage to set him up. He also said the violence was a misguided response to one of his dogs turning on him after he broke up a dangerous fight.

“I know the footage everybody’s seeing, it looks crazy. Even to me, it looks crazy. I came home and my dogs were attacking each other. I don’t mean like the regular playfighting, they were going for each other’s necks, basically trying to kill each other,” Ceaser told TMZ.

Despite how terrible the video looks, Ceaser says both dogs are “completely healthy and fine.” He gave away one dog to a friend to prevent future fights. It’s a bit hard to take his word when he seemed to make himself the victim in this situation. According to Ceaser’s attorney, the “avid dog lover” is not just the victim here, but a misjudged hero.

“In some ways, what was not seen in that video, was him protecting the smaller dogs, he just likely didn’t do this in the best way, so he’s seeking assistance and help to make sure that as a dog owner, he’s properly managing it, and understands how to interact in more healthy ways with all types of dogs and all of his dogs, but this is certainly a situation that he had addressed a long time ago,” Walter Mosley told People.

Was he really set up? No one made Ceaser lash out, but it does seem suspicious that someone had access to this footage. He confirmed to TMZ that it came from his own security camera outside his Atlanta home in 2020.

Fans are both outraged at how he treated the dogs and that VH1 didn’t keep this same energy when he was accused of abusing his daughter, Cheyenne. Many called out VH1’s swift response to animal abuse after using child abuse in a storyline.

What about the fate of Black Ink New York? VH1 already said it plans to continue filming and address the incident during this season. Aside from coworkers occasionally squaring up in the tattoo shop, there seems to be a pattern of abuse among cast members. Both Donna Lombardi and Skye have also been accused of abuse.

It’s sad to see the groundbreaking series go out this way.

Do you think VH1 should have fired Ceaser over animal abuse?

Was it long overdue after the child abuse allegations?

Though the Verzuz battle ended in the early hours on Friday morning, the jokes continued into the next day with that seems like Omarion getting the last say.

Once Mario took to instagram to throw shade Omarion’s way, former B2K members decided to join in and repost Mario’s message.

Which in return caused the “Ice Box” singer to respond. O posted a reel of a photoshoot he recently did and decided to mention his “3 background dancers,” referring to JBoog, RazB and LilFizz.

But to my 3 background dancers, I’m not surprised because this is how y’all always been, even while in the group. Praying for my downfall. Well, keep praying cause I’m overbooked and busy. Meanwhile, y’all really gotta get a job other than hatin on O. I heard UPS is hiring 😉🤙🏾🤣.

This says a lot because we all know Omarion is Mr. Unbothered and very rarely throws shade but he wasn’t going to let that one slide.

So what prompted O to even say anything? A clip from the Temptations posted from all three former members, suggesting that he was the David Ruffin of the group. The ex-members also captioned the clip, “@omarion YOU GOT SERVED,” playing on the 2000s hit movie they starred in.

Both JBoog and RazB have deleted the post but not Lil Fizz! Who do you think was in the wrong? Should Lil Fizz delete his post? Let us know your thoughts below.

“The Man Who Fell To Earth” Episode 9 Preview Clip

In the clip from Sunday’s episode of “The Man Who Fell To Earth,” Spencer (Jimmi Simpson) interrogates Faraday (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and discovers there isn’t much of anything that will get past him.

Faraday seems unaffected as his captors attempt to torture him with cigarette burns. Spencer puts an end to the torture and decides to question Faraday himself.

“You thought you were going home?” Spencer asks.

“Someone lied to you and we’re the same,” Faraday tells him. “Someone is lying to you.”

“Nobody lies to me,” Spencer responds.

“Drew Finch lied to you,” Faraday says.

“Drew Finch didn’t lie to me, I lied to her,” Spencer tells him. “How do you know?”

“Your internet,” Faraday says.

“My internet?” Spencer asks. “You mean the whole internet?”

“Yes,” Faraday tells him. “CIA files, dark web, deep web.”

“Okay so you know everything I’ve ever read, every seen,” Spencer comments.

“I know everything you’ve ever loved,” Faraday responds.

Spencer backs away, in shock.

Federal prosecutors apparently don’t like the idea of Nicki Minaj‘s husband Kenneth Petty spending his sentence for failing to register as a sex offender in California sitting around his home while on house arrest—because his home is a big-a** mansion that comes with all the lavish amenities big-a** mansions tend to include.

According to Business Insider, prosecutors will recommend that Petty, who pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender last year, 15 months in prison and pay a $55,000 fine.

“Having previously been convicted of attempted rape, defendant knowingly failed to register as a sex offender upon moving to California,” prosecutors said in a recent court filing.

From there, prosecutors got all in Petty’s business and pointed out that he didn’t start failing to complete sex offender paperwork until he started living it up with his new superstar bride.

“The timing of defendant’s lapse in registration is concerning, given that it occurred when defendant began dating his wife, quit his job, moved to Los Angeles, and adopted an affluent lifestyle,” they wrote.

“Defendant has been completing sex offender registration documents for nearly 20 years,” they continued. “Over the course of two decades, he was repeatedly warned that if he moved to another state, it was his responsibility to follow any local, city, state, federal, or international laws regarding registration.”

As previously reported, Petty has to register as a sex offender after he was convicted of attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl in 1995, when he was around the same age. Jennifer Hough, the victim in the case, filed a lawsuit against Minaj and Petty in New York for intentional infliction of emotional distress and sexual assault. In that lawsuit, she claimed the couple harassed her and attempted to bribe her into retracting her allegations. Nicki was ultimately dropped from that suit, but not her husband.

As for Petty’s sentencing for failing to register, he’s due to appear in court on July 6.

ESSENCE magazine has revealed two new cover stars for their 2022 Festival of Culture issue and this time, rising R&B stars Summer Walker and Lucky Daye grace the cover of the digital feature in “Still Over It”/ “Painted” perfection.

Both singers opened up about their undeniably unique sound and their rocky but gratifying journeys to fame. Walker, who is set to headline the ESSENCE Fest stage on July 2 for the first time, shared that after much success from her 2019 album Over It she’s ready to explore new musical territory outside of her traditional R&B realm.

Summer Walker Tells ESSENCE She Wants To Make Soul Music

The sultry vocalist admitted that Soul is her “favorite type of music” and a genre that “resonates” with her the most, but in today’s music industry where ratings, radio plays, and social media determine an artist’s value, she doesn’t feel like industry experts see the genre’s profitability.

“I just don’t get to do it as much because that’s not what you get paid for, you know?” Walker told the publication, noting how music industry execs might be hesitant to put a Soul song on the radio because it doesn’t “give you awards like they used to back in the 2000s.”

Despite how others might receive the genre, Walker shared that she absolutely can’t live without listening to Soul music, a genre that’s closely tied to her familiar roots in R&B.

“It’s just an overall life enhancement. I don’t know what kind of life I would live if I didn’t get to hear it.”

In 2021, the Interscope Records artist’s 2nd studio album Still Over It exploded on Billboard and streaming charts with a number of historic wins. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 and became the first R&B album by a female artist to top the chart since Solange’s A Seat at the Table in October 2016. Within its first week of release, the fan-favorite generated 201.1 million streams. Walker now holds the title of being the only female artist in the U.S. to have the biggest streaming week for an R&B album, according to Vibe.

Summer Walker On The Joy Of Motherhood

Interestingly enough, while the talented singer loves belting her sultry chops for fans, she isn’t big on performing in front of large crowds. But one thing that does bring “joy” to her heart and soul is her daughter, Princess Bubblegum. The “White Tee” hitmaker welcomed her daughter in March 2021 with her ex-boyfriend and super-producer London On Da Track. Juggling motherhood with her busy schedule can get “really hard” at times according to the 26-year-old.

“It’s really stressful and it’s really a lot of sacrifice. Sometimes, it’s like, is it worth it? Then they smile and make your day, and the answer is yes,” she told ESSENCE.

Despite all of her success, there’s one thing that Walker wishes she could turn back the hands of time and change.

“I wish that I paid more attention to the person I procreated with,” she told the publication bluntly. If you’re been living underneath a rock, Walker and her ex-London On Da Track were in a difficult on and off again relationship for two years up until April of last year. The former couple has bumped heads on social media over a slew of cheating allegations, parenting differences, and everything else in between.

“It’s still like you never really know anybody. Even how long you can be with people, you just never really know,” the Atlanta native said before adding:

“People be in long-a** marriages, and they just switch up and you’ll be like, “Yo, what the f**k?” So, I guess you can just never really know.”

Walker Is In A New Relationship But Isn’t Totally Healed From Past Trauma

Now, the BET award nominee is in a new romantic relationship, but she’s still doing the work to heal from her past trauma by seeking therapy and leaning on her religion. Fans have connected with the singer over her deep lyrics detailing the hardships of love and those soul-crushing breakups you just wish you could forget, but now that she’s in a new relationship, Walker confessed that she doesn’t “really” know if her new found love will have an impact on her music. According to the star, she hasn’t really “been focused on making any new music,” although fans have been dying to hear her next offering.

Lucky Daye Tells ESSENCE He’s Walking In His Own Lane

Unlike Walker, music seems to be flowingly effortlessly to New Orleans standout, Lucky Daye.

The singer’s Billboard 100 smash “Over” has been dominating airwaves and in April, the star’s Table For Two EP snagged the Best Progressive R&B Album award at the Grammys. The star has also penned songs for R&B titans like Mary J. Blige and Ella Mai.

It’s been a long time coming for Daye, who had been grinding for years in the industry until he was finally signed by RCA Records in 2018.

“I got fed up with people telling me they don’t like my songs,” the 36-year-old explained of his rough beginnings.

“It got to the point where it was like, okay, I’m going to make some fire songs that they never heard, finish them, play them and when they ask for them, I’m going to say, ‘No.’ And I’m going to keep doing it over and over until they talk bad about me and my name spreads and then people start calling me trying to get my songs.”

Persistence and determination are the key ingredients for success and Daye has an endless supply. Now that he’s at the pinnacle of his career, the bubbling singer and songwriter said he isn’t looking for “validation” from anyone on his music.

“No way. I can never do that,” he continued. “Respect to people that can. It’s just, that I’m not that controllable. My heart doesn’t allow me to be. I have to have my own lane.”

Daye, who will also be performing at this year’s ESSENCE Festival, said that he’s in his happy place when he’s rocking out on stage, a very different tune from Summer Walker.

“When I get on stage I’m relaxed. I have somebody to throw all of this energy to and nobody’s going to judge me,” he added.
