Tony Todd, the original Candyman and legendary voice actor dies at  69.

Tony Todd has an entertainment career that many could only dream of. His skills have touched generations across multiple decades across TV, film, and even video games. On November 9, the actor sadly passed away at the age of 69. One thing that will live on forever is the lore he created with his Candyman performance.

Thanks to Todd’s horrifying performance kids will never look in the mirror and say the name five times. After making his film debut over 38 years ago Todd achieved over 200 TV and film credits. He humbly bragged about this on social media, reminding the kids it’s possible.

After Todd’s passing Candyman co-star Virginia Madsen paid tribute to their “gothic romance” on social media.

“A truly poetic man. A voice that made it easy to swoon. Thanks to Bernard Rose, we really created a gothic romance. It’s why the film lives on. A gentle soul with a deep knowledge of the arts. He enjoyed the fans and was never shy when it came to fans approaching, wanting photos. A rare actor who allowed himself to be open to the public attention. Wish I had seen him on the stage. I will miss him so much and hope he haunts me once in a while. But I will not summon him in the mirror! What a gift that Jordon Peele let us live again as lovers.”

Outside of on-camera work Todd recently voiced Venom for Sony and Playstation’s latest “Spider-man 2” video game. Todd also voiced “the fallen” in Michael Bay’s 2009 hit Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. If you follow him on social media you know in his spare time he smoked his weed, ate well, and spent time with fans.

He will truly be missed but his legacy and work ethic will live forever.
