ATL’s Style Kings were recently celebrated for their exciting new aspireTV series spotlighting style, interior design, and custom clothing, and excellence ensued.

Just before the Labor Day holiday, the network that celebrates and reflects Black life, style, and culture, hosted a special screening for the new luxury design series Style Kings starring Dedrick Thomas and Justin Q. Williams. 

Attendees flooded Atlanta’s Buckhead Art & Co ahead of the series premiere on Wednesday, September 4 at 8 pm ET as a part of aspireTV’s “Power Players” hour lineup.

The event opened with remarks from Eshena Roman, Sr. Director Multicultural Marketing for UP Entertainment, and Angela Cannon, SVP Multicultural Networks for UP Entertainment and General Manager at aspireTV.

Attendees were then treated to a sneak peek of Episode 1 of Style Kings and following the screening, a fireside chat with the series talent, interior designer, and Atlanta-based HGTV design star Justin Q. Williams and celebrity custom clothier Dedrick Thomas of Hideoki Bespoke, was moderated by The Lifestyle Specialist, Kenny Burns.

During the chat, Thomas shared that his love for style was inspired by his mother, two grandmothers, and two great-grandmothers who taught him to always “look the part.”

“It was very important to me and I just wanted to make sure I could be the best version of myself for them and for my family.”

He went on to add that he’s a proud “lifestyle connoisseur” who connects people, something that will be shown in the series.

“When I developed Hideoki, it was more about bringing the right people together so that we could accomplish things together and create opportunities.”

As for Williams, he noted that he’s proud to bring Black male representation to the interior design business via Style Kings on aspireTV.

“I didn’t see myself on TV or in books growing up,” he said. “Rightfully so because there are less than 3% of Black people in general that are interior designers. Growing up I didn’t have that visual of what that could look like. That is also very important to me when it comes to television, I’ve done television a few times and it’s very important that I see myself there so they can see themselves here.”

Notable attendees of the ritzy affair included Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, and former NBA Player and Coach Jerry Stackhouse, both clients of Thomas’ Hideoki Bespoke business.

This style-celebrating series embodies the culture, swagger, and star power of Atlanta and details Williams’ and Thomas’ respective representations of fashion, interior design, and all things fly.

In Style Kings, audiences will enter the world of high fashion and interior design with two successful entrepreneurs (Justin Q. Williams and Dedrick Thomas), who specialize in luxurious style. Style Kings will have open and honest conversations, sharing how their artistic minds shape their approach to fashion and design. Catering to a roster of celebrity clients and high-profile projects, these two experts will elevate the discourse on Black men’s contribution to art and culture, while inspiring viewers to define their own style and swagger in this 10-episode series.

In a sneak peek from Friday’s episode, we see Ms. Evelyn and Tamar collaborating on a cooking show. Miss E tells the cameras that her daughter “thinks she’s the boss” but she knows that she’s the one really in charge.

Tamar then says in a confessional that she might be the best cook in the family because she makes a “mean BLT at 2:00 in the morning.”

“Okay?!” Tamar reaffirms with a laugh.

“This is such a dream come true allowing my mother to live out her dreams,” says a more demure Tamar. “It’s a lot of healing in cooking, it’s a lot of healing in sharing recipes and stories.”

Episode 103 – “Family Matters” – Premieres Friday, August 23rd at 9:30 pm ET on We TV

The Braxtons are still mending from grief counseling, but when Traci’s son, Kevin Jr., goes missing, his aunties spring into action. Toni struggles to find balance with her health and work. Tamar teams up with Miss E to fulfill a lifelong dream.

Former Bachelorette contestant Bryan Abasolo is giving fans more details about his life with wife Rachel Lindsay before he filed for divorce.

The chiropractor, who refers to himself as “Dr. Abs,” filed for divorce from the media mogul back in January. Now, he’s speaking out about what their relationship was like prior to their split, opening up during an interview with his divorce coach, Rene Garcia.

During their conversation, Abasolo revealed that he first began considering divorce because he “had already asked for a separation a few months back.”

“I was sleeping in a different bedroom,” the chiropractor revealed. We were already going to marriage counseling.”

Because the couples counseling “seemed to be working,” Abasolo admitted that he had some second thoughts about initiating the divorce, saying, “I actually set aside my divorce thoughts to give the relationship one last major push but as time went on, things just went right back to the way they were.”

Bryan went on to explain that he and Lindsay had an “unhealthy communication pattern,” going on to reveal that he was learning about her life mostly through social media.

“We didn’t spend enough time with each other,” he explained. “I mean, in my estimation, we saw what the other person was doing in the relationship, mainly on Instagram, although we lived in the same house.”

In the end, Abasolo said that he asked for a divorce after the couple had an argument on December 31, 2023.

“That was one of the toughest things I ever had to do in my life,” he explained. “How I felt when I did it, I felt like I was being blindfolded and then suddenly I was able to see sunlight,” he recalled. “ It was uncomfortable and then there was the other end of the spectrum, there was all this fear that entered my body.”

Abasolo continued: “It was just a huge mix of emotions so on one end, I was in a weird friend zone situation for a while and we started to live different lives and our interests and our priorities “They … no longer aligned and if I look at the other aspect of it, there was this huge admiration for her and all these amazing times and amazing feelings at us both starting with very little and being part of a true team that cared about each other and I felt like I was doing my part as a husband and that felt great.”

“There came a time where I needed to stop letting circumstances and my fear delay what was inevitably going to happen,” he admitted.

Abasolo filed for divorce from the former Bachelorette after four years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. A few months later, in May, he requested emergency spousal support and at least $75,000 in legal fees from his ex, who then claimed he was “not in need” of the funds. In documents obtained by PEOPLE, Linsday also said the requested amount “far exceed the actual marital lifestyle and his need.”
