This is out of pocket…

Brooke Bailey x Jackie Christie

Tension has escalated between Brooke Bailey and former friend-turned-enemy Jackie Christie following the July 1 premiere of the second half of Basketball Wives Los Angeles Season 11.

On Monday, Bailey shared an eyebrow-raising video of an audio recording that allegedly captured Christie accusing the former model of using her late daughter Kayla Bailey’s death to rake in cash. Kayla, 25, tragically passed away following a car crash in 2022.

“I don’t want to shoot with her, I’m back on that. I ain’t filming with her…and my attorneys and everybody else already recommended I don’t,” the alleged audio recording of Christie said. “I’m not going ten steps back for this broad. I don’t like her, I don’t care for her, I’m not doing it. She still on here trying to get paid off of this baby, I’m good. …me and Brooke will not have a conversation on national TV no more. She done f*cked herself with me for good.”

Shocked by her reality TV co-star’s accusations, Bailey vehemently denied exploiting her daughter’s death for financial gain.

“The only money I collect in my daughters name is through her foundation that I created to give back in Kayla’s honor,” she captioned the audio clip, referencing the nonprofit she launched in 2023 to honor Kayla’s legacy. The organization provides grants to support students attending cosmetology school among other initiatives.

Bailey further slammed the egregious accusations allegedly brought forth by her Basketball Wives co-star in a follow-up message that read;

“It’s nasty for ANY1 to EVER think that I would need to collect money bc my child passed. I would NEVER !!! Don’t speak on my real life experiences when you know nothing about it. Especially, when I do all I can to try to help others who have joined this unfortunate club.”

She added;

“Imagine me being nasty to people in my grief when I’m blessed to have my sanity after my life’s journey – God is good !!!”

This isn’t the first time Bailey and Christie have fought.

As previously reported, following Kayla’s passing, Bailey was disappointed and disgusted that her friend Christie “showed absolutely no support” after the untimely death of her daughter.

Christie, however, claimed that she did her best to console her fellow c0-star and released receipts to support her stance. Additionally, on the Season 10 reunion, Christie also claimed that she had a tough time finding the right words and methods of support to help Brooke through grieving.

Yikes! This is so messy. What do you think of Brooke and Jackie Christie’s drama?

After days of discourse about a #BETAwards moment between her and a TikToker, Taraji P. Henson is weighing in.

2024 BET Awards - Arrivals

Source: Unique Nicole / Getty

During one segment at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, host Henson walked around the audience to give certain stars their flowers, handing out roses to celebrate the pre-selected celebs.

One personality who was meant to get his flowers, TikToker Keith Lee, didn’t exactly get the moment he expected when Taraji confused him for influencer Jordan Howlett. As the actress spoke to Howlett, he laughed and pointed to Lee in a seriously uncomfortable moment, causing Henson to say, “I’m so sorry!” and that she “got caught up in her own inner monologue.”

Lee went on to accept the rose after the mishap, but later posted a now-deleted TikTok where he dropped it on the floor.

“Our name will be known in every room it’s supposed to be, when it’s supposed to be, how it’s supposed, with no confusion,” Keith wrote in his TikTok caption. “God is amazing.”

Soon thereafter, he posted a follow-up video, insisting The Color Purple star was not the reason for his anger.

“I am not upset at Taraji P. Henson by any stretch of the imagination,” he said in another video on Monday. “And not only that, in my opinion, she smoked it last night.”

He continued, “The reason I did this had nothing to do with Taraji P. Henson. The reason I did this is that I wholeheartedly believe it wasn’t my rose, it wasn’t my moment. It was given to me, but it wasn’t mine. I always say, I don’t want nothing that wasn’t mine. I am forever thankful for every room that I’m in. I was more than thankful and more than grateful to just sit there and enjoy the show.”

Lee went on to blame the show’s producers for the upsetting moment, but Henson still wasn’t having it.

Prior to Keith’s explanation, Taraji addressed his rose-throwing video in an Instagram comment, where she implied that the TikToker was simply upset because he missed his 15 minutes of mainstream fame.

“Life really is too short for this behavior,” she began. “He wasn’t in his seat. They give celebrity assigned seats! I rehearsed all damn day to go hit my mark and that young man wasn’t in his seat so HE MISSED HIS MOMENT!”

Henson went on to write, “His ego is hurt. He will be fine. I cleaned it up at the end of the show. No love lost here. #GODBLESS.”

Hopefully, Lee’s follow-up video made it clear that there’s no beef between him and Henson.

Have you watched Dark Matter on AppleTV+?

Dark Matter Episodic images

Fans of sci-fi will love the Apple TV+ series which stars Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly Oakes Fegley, Dayo Okeniyi, and more. The show is about a man who is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Our Sr. Content Director Janeé Bolden interviewed Dayo Okeniyi who takes on the role of Leighton Vance in the show.

Dark Matter Episodic images

Source: Courtes / Apple TV+

It turns out that Okeniyi had already read and loved the Blake Crouch novel that the series is adapted from when he was cast in the role, and while he is a huge fan of the book, he says he believes the show is actually an improved version.

“I was a big fan of the book and honestly I was most nervous because my character in the book isn’t fully fleshed out,” Okeniyi told BOSSIP. “A lot of the additions that we’re doing to Season 2 is really beefing up that Leighton character and using him as a cog in the story, setting up things that hopefully we can pay off if we get to do more installments of the show, so I was like, ‘Ohh man audiences are just going to want us to do the book — like, ‘What’s all this other stuff we’re doing with Leighton?’ I just didn’t want to be that storyline where they go, ‘Can we get back to Jason?’ They were really responding to what was happening and I think Blake just really stuck the landing. I think this is really one of those few adaptations where it’s just as good, if not slightly better than the book and Blake would agree with this. He said it a lot. All the loopholes, all the plot holes, he sourced the Internet from when the book was released until now. So thank you for pointing them out so he could correct all those on the show. I’m genuinely proud of this and I honestly can’t believe I’m part of this. I don’t know any time in my career where I’ve read something as a fan, on my own, not for research and then found myself in in that world.”

As Jason and Amanda enter the box, opening door after door in hopes of him returning to his life, they discover their thoughts have an effect on the world they find on the other side of the door. Anyone familiar with manifestation will instantly recognize the role it plays in Jason’s outcome, so we had to ask Okeniyi how he related the concept to his own experiences.

Dark Matter Episodic images

Source: Courtes / Apple TV+

“I 1000% subscribed to manifestation,” Okeniyi told BOSSIP. “I think if you want to go anywhere in this life you gotta go there in the mind first and yes, there’s no question that I, on some subconscious level, manifested this role. I was working on a different science fiction show, a time travel show that I was writing with a couple of partners of mine and we kind of got to a roadblock. My sister was like, ‘You should check out this book by this guy Blake Crouch. Maybe if you read it, it might give you ideas of a different direction you could take with the show.’ We had gotten to a place where we were kind of stuck. I read Blake’s book and I was like, ‘Ohh f**k, like he cracked it!’ To the point where I was so depressed. I stopped working on the project I was writing before. This was so fresh and so different, even with all the spectacles it was so grounded. So yeah, I was working on something and this was supposed to be you know inspiration for what I was working on and then God just said, ‘No, go work on this, that’s why it’s coming into your Life.”

Dark Matter Episodic images

Source: Courtes / Apple TV+

In Dark Matter, Joel Edgerton’s character discovers there are many versions of Jason, most of whom are so similar it’s hard to tell one from the next, the audience meets drastically different versions of Okeniyi’s character Leighton Vance.

“Trust me, we had more Leightons,” Okeniyi told BOSSIP. “There’s stuff we filmed that didn’t make the final cut and and hopefully we get to get to see somewhere. We’re looking to get a second season, but honestly I just give a lot of credit to Blake really for allowing us the actors to push those boundaries between our characters as much as possible. I was talking with Joel earlier on and I was like, ‘Joel how are you going to do the different Jasons?’ He was like, ‘It’s going to be hair thin differences between them. He wanted it to be very, very subtle and there were a lot of people who wanted to do that as well. I said, ‘Where’s the fun in that?’ I asked Blake about it. I was like, ‘I want to do like blonde tips, what do you think about that?’ He was like, ‘Sure do it.’ Then was like, ‘What do you think about silk pajamas?’ He was like, ‘Sure.’ I was like, ‘Why not tattoos?’ Anything I’ve asked for he’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes.’ It’s one of the things where, you get to set and I’ve been filming late in the morning and then you go to lunch and come back and I got the Odell Beckham tips. I’m sitting there going, ‘Ohh man this might be a joke, like this couldn’t work or it could be really bad.’ You just have to go for it. You have to fully commit to it. I remember after the very first take Joel just looks at me and he’s like, ‘Yeah this is going to be awesome’. You’re trying it out but you’re trying to read the cast, the crew on set. We had Tim Cook Leighton and Diddy Leighton — which is funny because we filmed this like three years ago.”

Rihanna knows her R-9 album is waaaay overdue, but that doesn’t stop her from asking her faves when they’re finally gonna drop.

No matter what she does, whether it be dropping some new makeup or launching a whole haircare line, fans are always going to respond by asking Rihanna when we’re finally getting new music. Now, she’s giving another star a taste of what she has to deal with around the clock.

On Tuesday, July 2, GloRilla posted a collection of photos from a few nights prior at CMG’s Glow Up Celebration honoring her at MainRo in Los Angeles. After posting photos with the likes of Megan Thee Stallion and Moneybagg Yo, the last slide of Glo’s post was a screenshot of an Instagram DM she received from Rih, who asked about the status of her album.

“You got all summer sis!” the Fenty founder gushed before asking the important question.

“I know dis wild hypocritical, but when the album drop?” Rihanna asked, adding a shrugging emoji and a heart.

This moment of self-awareness from Rihanna comes just a few days after the songstress showed love for GloRilla in a now-viral video.

The Memphis rapper’s latest hit song “TGIF” has completely taken over this summer, including a TikTok trend that doesn’t seem to be dying down any time soon. Single women and those who are happily taken alike have posted videos to the song, with those in relationships reluctantly skipping over the line, “I ain’t got no n***a, and no n***a ain’t got me.”

Rihanna, however, didn’t miss any lyrics, posting a hilarious video singing the words with her whole chest, looking her boyfriend A$AP Rocky right in the face while she did so.

In response, the rapper put hands on his hips and asked the mother of his children, “That’s what we doing?”

Rih’s GloRilla fandom is undeniable at this point, so it’s safe to say she completely understands where people are coming from when they beg for her Anti follow-up. Still, fans are fed up with Ms. Fenty playing in their faces, taking to social media to react to her asking Glo about her album instead of getting in the studio herself!

Jail Cells at Missouri State Penitentiary

If the criminal justice system is truly about justice, corrections officers at Jefferson City Correctional Center should soon become customers at their former place of employment.

A CNN report details the gruesome final moments of a 39-year-old incarcerated man named Othel Moore Jr. who was subjected to violent abuse and intentional neglect by five members of the JCCC’s Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) who have been charged with his death. A 27-year-old former inmate named Jordan Seller was a first-hand witness to the horrors that claimed Moore’s life and he spoke to CNN about the incident that will likely haunt him for the rest of his days, “I never watched anybody die before”.

Seller says that during a mandatory cell search, CERT officers refused to acknowledge Moore’s pleas that he has a medical condition that requires him to be placed in two sets of handcuffs to ease the amount of tension on his back. Instead, Seller says that the officers treated Moore as if he was not complying with their orders and sprayed him with mace.

“He can’t see. He’s spitting out mace, he’s coughing, he can’t breathe and he’s telling them ‘I’m allergic to mace, you need to hurry up and get medical here,’” Seller said.

After being maced, Moore was placed in a restraint chair and had a spit mask placed over his face as he tried desperately to expectorate the poison that was restricting his air passage.

At this point, the situation became more dire and more violent on the part of the CERT.

“Of course, he’s refusing this because there’s no reason for them to put a spit mask on,” said Seller, who also says he witnessed this a few feet from his cell door. “He don’t know what’s going on. He can’t see, you know, so they’re grabbing on him trying to put something on his head. He’s fighting it. Well, then they started shocking him with the shock glove.”

Seller says that after all that, the COs, placed “an all-black motorcycle helmet, you know, darkened mask…” over Moore’s head, exacerbating his frantic condition.

“He’s jumping up and down shaking. And, you know, slowly, his screams are getting weaker and weaker,” Seller said per CNN. “I believe I watched him die before they even took him out the wing,” he said.

“I watched the people that are supposed to be protecting me, kill somebody, literally killed them, you know? And that brought on such a fear, you know? The realization that these people can kill me and there’s nothing I can do about it,” said Seller.

Justin Leggins, Jacob Case, Aaron Brown, Gregory Varner and Bryanne Bradshaw were all charged with various crimes in connection to Moore’s death. Leggins and Case were charged with second-degree murder and second-degree assault. Brown was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree assault. Varner was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree assault. Bradshaw was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the second degree.

We hope these pigs are found guilty and placed in general population with the rest of the incarcerated.

Jayson Tatum has made NBA history signing the largest contract extension ever while breaking teammate Jaylen Green’s record.

After years of making it to the postseason only to end up heartbroken, the Boston Celtics are the 2024 NBA Champions and hold the record for most NBA Championships with 18 while the Lakers sit at 17. Heading into the 2023-2024 season, Boston made history signing Jaylen Brown to the highest contract in NBA history for $285 Million. His contract has proved to be an immediate payoff and the franchise reportedly isn’t done.

According to Complex, Brown’s historic contract will be a thing of the past thanks to Jayson Tatum who signing a five-year contract extension worth $314 Million.

Before you ask how are they able to afford this, it’s simple. The Boston Celtics’ biggest stars are homegrown and not a side project created through trades and terrible contracts. In sports we often hear “trust the process” and the 2024 NBA Champions are a product of that mindset. With both superstars paid, Boston should be able to secure back-to-back championships.

Unfortunately for the rest of the NBA, nothing will motivate two young champs more than being the highest-paid in their profession.

Lil Mama shared her thoughts on the state of female hip-hop shortly after the BET Awards and the New York native wasn’t happy with Nicki Minaj winning Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.

The “Lip Gloss” rapper took to the comments section of a July 1 post shared by rapper Dee-1 in which Sexyy Red, Latto, Ice Spice, and Megan Thee Stallion could be seen performing during the ceremony. Frustrated by all four of the hip-hop power players, Lil Mama called out BET for celebrating the rising stars and claimed hip-hop veteran, Minaj was responsible for the poor talent seen in today’s industry.

“[They] gave Nicki an award for leading this pack. Corporate ‘BARS’ be going over our head. They laughing at us for sure!” the rapper commented, underneath Dee-1’s video which included a text overlay that read, “We call women queens but we celebrate the prostitution of their bodies.”

Lil Mama, real name Niatia Jessica Kirkland, doubled down on her stance in a follow-up comment.

“Key word, THIS PACK. These women are not influenced by Kim. Nicki is influenced by Kim. These women are 23,” she continued.“What major musical prostitutes do you remember from the last 15 years? Who do you think they watched corporate give a platform and flowers for sitting out. Be forreal. Like I said, they are laughing at us and the award was a ‘thanks to you, now we have 7, 8, 9 of em.’”

Lil Mama’s comment stirred controversy among the Barbz who accused her of expressing jealousy. One social media user, @prosperous_hustler, suggested that the Harlemite’s bitterness stemmed from not being invited to perform at the BET Awards.

Lil Mama swiftly corrected the user.

”& that’s your response to what conversation again??? Are you saying that I would have been performing and selling pussy too or just performing?” she wrote under the post by Dee-1.

Another fan of Minaj argued that Lil Mama should acknowledge Minaj’s role in opening doors for female artists by showcasing raw lyricism rather than relying on “selling sex” through her music.

“And there are many musical whores and the labels are the pimps,” the Instagram user added.

Lil Mama agreed with the sentiment.

“There were definitely options in style and content. It’s all love, God is the greatest and these women are gonna wake up and realize that they are worth more than any price tag. Sometimes we can’t see ourselves. We are just living… so I can [understand] how this can happen and feel normal,” she added.

This Isn’t The First Time Lil Mama Has Aired Her Grievances With Nicki Minaj

In a 2011 interview with VIBE the “Shawty Get Loose,” rapper accused Minaj of copying her signature bob.

“My cut is blunt and futuristic and Nicki Minaj started wearing that bob on her head after she came to my show, so at the end of the day I know what I do and I know what I possess and I know who I am,” she told the outlet. “I’m a trendsetter. The biggest form of flattery is imitation so I’m flattered. I understand the universal law. I’m not confused, I don’t feel like a follower.”

Yikes!

Was Lil Mama trippin’ for her comment?

Angela Simmons is doing her best to get out of hot water following her controversial accessory at the 2024 BET Awards.

After the former reality star hit the BET Awards red carpet on Sunday night, fans flooded social media with commentary about her fashion choice.

To go with her sparkly green dress, Simmons was carrying a matching, bedazzled purse in the shape of a handgun. Not only that, she did several poses during her photo op to match its shape, holding it up and pointing the bag toward cameras as if it were an actual weapon.

She responded to the backlash fairly quickly, posting a video to her Instagram Story to address her fashion choice. At the time, Angela acknowledged that she has a personal history with gun violence–her ex-fiancé and the father of her 6-year-old child, Sutton Tennyson, was fatally shot in 2018–going on to insist that she’s not a “violent” person and simply thought that her handbag looked “cool.”

Now, she’s apologizing for the accessory once again, writing a lengthy statement on Instagram admitting that she regrets her decision to carry that bag at the BET Awards.

“When I chose the purse, I believed it was cute and unique, and I made a poor decision in using it as an accessory to amplify my beauty,” she began in her post. “I deeply regret that this item, which symbolizes a gun, was inappropriate and insensitive, especially given my personal and community experiences with gun violence.”

Simmons continued, “I have personally lost my partner, the father of my child, to gun violence, and I have witnessed its devastating impact on my community in Southeast Queens…I ask for your understanding and forgiveness, and I hope you can accept my sincere apology. While this incident was a misstep, I will not allow it to define my moral compass or my commitment to promoting peace and ending gun violence.”

Not long after Simmons’ second apology, her boyfriend, Yo Gotti, reacted to all of the chatter surrounding his girl.

The rapper definitely didn’t take the situation as seriously as Angela, posting a black screen to his Instagram Story and writing, “She just practicing…LOL,” along with hearts, a laughing face, and a pistol emoji.

Keith Lee is clarifying that his annoyed response to a BET Awards midshow mixup had nothing to do with Taraji P. Henson.  “That wasn’t my rose, that wasn’t my moment,” said the food critic.

As previously reported Taraji mixed up TikToker Jordan Howlett a.k.a. Jordan Thee Stallion with TikToker Keith Lee during the ceremony in a cringeworthy moment before apologizing.

“I got caught up in my own inner monologue, I’m so sorry,” she said while ordering her skit partner to give him a rose.

And while BET Awards watchers moved on from the awkward moment, an apparently annoyed Keith Lee posted and deleted a shady message.

“Our name will be known in every room its supposed to be; when it’s supposed to be, how it supposed, with no confusion. God is amazing #Thankful,” he posted on TikTok accoding to TheNeighborhoodTalk.

Numerous Taraji P. Henson fans thought the food reviewer was shading Taraji, but he’s since clarified that his post was actually aimed at BET production for rushing to put the on-camera moment together.

“First and foremost, I want to start by saying I am not upset at Taraji P. Henson by any stretch of the imagination,” said Lee on his official TikTok account. “Not only that but in my opinion, she smoked it last night. I don’t think for one second Taraji had any ill will or any ill intentions behind the situation. The situation happened the way it did. It is what it is.”

He continued and explained why he tossed the rose that was given to him in the sketch.

“The reason I did this had nothing to do with Taraji P. Henson,” he said. “I wholeheartedly believe that wasn’t my rose, that wasn’t my moment it was given to me but it wasn’t mine. I want what’s meant for me, nothing less, no more.”

“The entire segment on the production side felt extremely rushed,” he added. “Not only did it feel rushed, it did not feel intentional. It did not feel purposeful.”

He went on to acknowledge that while he was grateful to be at the awards show with his wife, he would’ve preferred to stay seated in his original seats rather than move for what was supposed to be a funny bit.

“I’ve always spoken about my social anxiety, and for me just to get out and be in that moment was more than enough for me,” said Lee. “So to take me and my wife out of our seats, put us in different seats, give Taraji no direction to who we are and what we do felt extremely unprepared and unprofessional to me.”

He continued,

“I never longed for the spotlight, if I ever wanted the spotlight I would’ve accepted a quarter of the opportunities that’s been presented to us. Never once was I upset that Taraji didn’t know who I was.”

What do YOU think about Keith Lee clarifying his BET Awards reaction post? Did YOU think he was shading Taraji?
