Folks have been speculating about the identity of Justine Skye’s abuser ever since the singer revealed in her song “Build” that she was once a victim of domestic violence.

On Monday, Justine took to Twitter to blast her ex, Sheck Wes, and revealed that he recently attacked stalked her and attached her friends while she was out with her new boo Goldlink.

Yikes. The rapper hasn’t responded to the accusations. Fortunately, Justine and her crew are safe.

After getting dragged on social media all day long and having the entire Young Money squad pull out of their BET Experience weekend, the network has issued an apology to Nicki Minaj for their spicy Grammy night tweet. Following Cardi B‘s win for Best Rap Album on Sunday, BET tweeted that the “Hard White” rapper was “being dragged by her lacefront.”

Nicki found the tweet offensive and responded by announcing that her and the rest of the YM camp will not be performing at the BET Experience Weekend in June.

The network followed up with an apology saying:

BET loves Nicki Minaj. We have supported her from the very beginning of her career and will continue to do so moving forward. Nicki has paved the way for so many performers and has solidified her place as one of the most powerful figures in the music industry. Unfortunately the respect we have for Nicki was violated by this post that should never have been written.

They added:

The post does not reflect how we feel about Nicki. And further does not reflect our company values. We deeply apologize for the hurt, disappointment and confusion that this post has caused. We are committed to doing everything we can to address the situation. We are also conducting an internal audit to assure these types of posts are not published again. We have apologized to Nicki and her team. We understand Nicki’s position and look forward to continuing our dialogue with her. Finally, we apologize to all of her fans. This should have never happened.”

Can’t wait to hear what Onika has to say about all this on the next episode of Queen Radio. Y’all listening?

Alicia Keys hosts the 61st Grammy Awards in Los Angeles and before the show officially got started, a few winners had already been announced including Dave Chapelle for Best Comedy Album, Black Panther for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” for Best Music Video and Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and Future’s “King’s Dead” for Best Rap Performance.

At the top of the show, Camila Cabello opens up the 61st annual Grammy Awards with a colorful Cuban inspired set for “Havana” featuring Young Thug. The highlight of the set was obviously Thugger who made a fashionable entrance in his finest Michael Jackson-esque rhinestone loafers but the guests didn’t stop there. Ricky Martin and J Balvin also joined Camila on stage for a “Havana” mashup.

When that was over, Alicia Keys took the stage to begin her monologue. She thanked her friends, her husband, showed some love to Tracee Ellis Ross and then took a moment to surprise the audience by bringing out a few queens who happen to be some of the most honored women in the world.

Without an introduction, out walks Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Jennifer Lopez. But that wasn’t even the best part —  Michelle Obama (who looked like a fine, tall glass of water) joined the ladies and the crowd erupted. There’s absolutely no way you can discuss queens and not bring Michelle O.

Janelle Monae channeled her inner Prince when she took the stage for “Make Me Feel”. The Dirty Computer singer gave a very eclectic performance while wearing a black vinyl bodysuit and gyrating across the stage. If anybody knows how to put on a show, it’s Janelle Monae. She did THAT!

“This Is America” won its second award of the night for Song of the Year. Unfortunately, he and his bleached out beard weren’t in the building to accept it.

H.E.R, who was nominated for 5 Grammy awards, hit the stage to perform “Hard Place” and let’s be clear, her mic was ON! H.E.R. can sing live and she made sure we all knew it.

The highlight of the night had to be Cardi B channeling her inner peacock and Offset loving every minute of it. Cardi twerked to “Money” with a tail of feathers and in that very moment, Offset was thinking about dropping a Kulture II in her womb.

Drake shocked everyone when he actually showed up for the Grammys. The Toronto rapper won “Best Rap Song” for God’s Plan and he was up against some stiff competition. However, when he accepted his award, he treated everyone like a winner. He told his fellow rappers that even though they hadn’t won the actual award, as long as they had fans singing every word of their songs, waiting in the rain for their concerts, they are the real winners. Unfortunately, the Grammy’s wasn’t feeling that. They cut to commercial mid-speech. Yikes!

Diana Ross’ grandson introduced his Supreme grandmother and when the queen Ms. Ross touched the stage in her red tulle dress she shut the house DOWN! She sang “The Best Years of My Life” and “Reach Out And Touch” and she sounded like she never left the stage.

Then there was Jennifer Lopez’s Motown tribute. It was…interesting. She did a medley of “Dancing Machine”, “Dancing In The Street”, Please Mr. Postman”, “Do You Love Me” and more.

Okurrr but did you see Cardi B get her first GRAMMY? “Invasion of Privacy” won Best Rap Album and Cardi had us in tears during her acceptance speech!

Stay tuned here, as we give a live recap of the Grammys!

Grammys

The biggest night in music is finally announced their 2019 nominees , and judging by the fact that hip hop music has dominated this year — it’s no surprise that this year’s show will be different than the previous ones. The 2019 Grammy nominations were announced on Friday and folks are questioning the relevance of the prestigious award. Recording Academy president Neil Portnow has said “I think we’re incredibly relevant and on point.”

But for obvious reasons, the masses doesn’t think so. Vulture reported, “The Grammys are important, but they’re not necessarily an accurate representation of the music industry as a whole. There is no reason that these two ideas need to be reconciled. If Drake somehow wins zero awards, that does not make Drake less popular. That Ariana Grande was not nominated for more awards does not negate her impressive musical achievements this year. The Grammys are their own world, and they matter exactly as much as we let them matter.

Stars like Beyonce & Jay-Z, Travis Scott and Cardi B are the highlight of the 2019 Grammy Awards — which means hip hop has clearly taken over. Andre Barber, founder of pioneering Chicago hip-hop media company Fake Shore Drive, told The Hollywood Reporter, “part of hip-hop’s challenge at the Grammys is due to the lack amount of Academy members that work in the genre. The biggest challenge with hip-hop is that there’s not enough people voting from that community. I think we would’ve won in these categories a long time ago if we had more voting members.

He added, ” [Chance] being an independent artist and getting there and winning three awards, and performing, I think it showed that you could do it. You could come from Chicago and work really hard and this kind of thing can happen. I think it’s been positive.”

Host of BuzzFeed’s live morning show AM2DM, Saeed Jones made a good point too. “There’s certainly a pattern and the Grammys aren’t the only organization that does this. But where you see a lot of diverse artists and nominees and that draws us in, and then when we get to the actual awards, there’s white winner, white winner, white winner, and I hope that isn’t repeated this year.”

Hopefully, our most of our faves will go home with a Grammy tonight. If not, then we know what’s up. But just for fun, let’s take a look back at what the big show was looking like 10 whole, drastic, years ago. In honor of the 2019 Grammy Awards, hit the flip to board the nostalgia train. Catch the live show tonight at 8pm EST on CBS.

Malik Yusef Denies Rumors That He Forged Kanye’s Signature

Earlier this week, it was reported that a G.O.O.D. Music associate had committed fraud by using a forged Kanye West signature, which resulted in an alleged $900,000 for a performance that wasn’t actually ever going to happen.

It was later revealed that Malik Yusef is the one who allegedly orchestrated the aforementioned fraud, but now, he is denying any intent to commit identity theft in this situation.

“Me and Kanye we got a foundation together,” Yusef told the people over at TMZ. He went on to claim that Ye himself instructed him to get the performance funded, explaining that he intended to send the money back to investors once he got the impression that Kanye wasn’t actually going to perform.  Yusef also added that he never forged Kanye’s signature, but he used a stamp. “This has been in the works, this started last February” he explained.

Malik Yusef continued to reiterate throughout the video that he was never scamming anyone. “Ain’t no forgery, dog,” he said. “We have a foundation together. I ain’t never took nothing from Kanye, not even his name. Barely take his f***ing advice.” Kanye has not yet spoken about this situation, but in the documents obtained by TMZ, a signature for both Yusef and West were present.

The G.O.O.D. Music associate has also been defending himself on Twitter since the claims made news, angry that Kanye has not come to his defense yet.
