Over the weekend, NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Davis reportedly had what looked eerily similar to an incident of traveling while Black when he was handcuffed and removed from a United Airlines flight right in front of his wife and children.

Terrell told CBS Mornings that the airline put him and his family through a “disgusting display of injustice” that he still hasn’t gotten over, all because a flight attendant mistook a tap on the shoulder for a physical threat, or at least that’s what the former Denver Broncos running back thought prompted the altercation.

According to Davis, it all started Saturday when his 13-year-old son asked for a cup of ice during the family’s flight from Denver to Santa Ana, Calif. When Davis presumed the flight attendant didn’t hear the child, he tapped them on the shoulder, and the ex-NFL star was subsequently accused of hitting the flight attendant.

From CBS:

The flight attendant, Davis said, didn’t hear his son’s request, so Davis, who was sitting in an aisle seat, said he put his hand up to get the flight attendant’s attention. Then, when the flight attendant didn’t see him, Davis said he “lightly tapped” the flight attendant on the shoulder. That’s when Davis said the flight attendant swung around and said, “Don’t hit me.”

Davis said one of the passengers commented on the interaction.

“He turned around and said, ‘You didn’t hit him.’ He said, ‘I saw it. You didn’t hit him.’”

The former NFL running back said he was surprised by the flight attendant’s reaction, but didn’t think much of it until the flight from Denver landed in Orange County, California.

Upon landing, Davis said, everyone was told to remain in their seats. Davis said he thought there could have been a medical emergency, so he remained in his seat reading a magazine until he heard commotion and saw FBI agents in the aisle.

“I see ‘FBI’ on the jacket. I see the green, I think it was the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and they were walking back toward the plane, and as they get closer to my seat, they come straight to me, and the agent walks up to me, and he leans over and whispers, ‘Don’t fight it,’ and he put the cuffs on me.”

Davis also told his story in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, adding that the incident left him “humiliated, embarrassed, powerless and angry.”

Davis’ wife, Tamiko Davis—who sat next to their 9-year-old daughter during the flight while Davis sat next to their two sons, the youngest of whom is 11—said she wasn’t aware of the incident with her son’s ice request and the skittish flight attendant who apparently thought a shoulder tap was a prelude to an all-out assault. Tamiko said she had no idea what was going on in the moment the cuffs went on her husband’s wrists and thought someone must have been playing a joke on them.

“This is some cruel practical prank he’s pulling on me,” she said per CBS. “You just have all of these emotions going through.”

“I felt helpless,” she continued. “I remember watching them place handcuffs on Terrell, and seeing my two sons there. As a mom, as a Black mom raising two Black sons, you work really hard to not have your children have those types of experiences. That moment — I can’t protect my children from that.”

Davis Says The FBI Cleared Him Of Wrongdoing, United Airlines Releases Statement

On Instagram, Davis noted that after some questioning “it was rightfully determined by [FBI] agents that this flight attendant was inaccurate in his accusation.” He also said the agents profusely apologized, even offering to support me and my family in any way possible.”

Still, Davis said but that doesn’t change what the attendant in question put him through.

“The biggest problem for me was the intent of the flight attendant,” he said to CBS. “When you went up there and made that call, your intent was to destroy me. I didn’t do anything to him.”

Davis’ attorney, Parker Stinar, said his client was cleared of any wrongdoing within minutes of interviewing Davis and other passengers, but that’s all the time it took for Davis and his family to have experienced unimaginable embarrassment and completely avoidable trauma.

“The problem is the scars that took place and the trauma that took place are going to impact this family forever,” Stinar said. “Equally as important, we have heard from dozens of other United passengers that have experienced similar conduct, events and sadly, I don’t know why it happened for Mr. Davis, most of those people aren’t handcuffed.”

Meanwhile, United Airlines appeared to acknowledge what happened to Davis and offered the same standard obligatory apology companies always put out there following these incidents. They also noted that the flight attendant had been “removed” pending their investigation.

“This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide,” the airline said in statement per NPR. “We have reached out to Mr. Davis’s team to apologize and continue to discuss the issue with them. We have removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely look into this matter and we are reviewing our policies around incidents like this.”

Stinar said he and the family are mulling over the possibility of taking legal action against the airline.

Rich Paul, Bronny, Jaylen Brown

Rich Paul recently joined The Pat McAfee Show and defended Bronny James from Jaylen Browns’ viral “not a pro” comments.

Anytime you see Rich Paul pop up on the television or for an interview, he always has a reason for his presence. The superstar Klutch sports agent recently joined The Pat McAfee Show to talk all things Klutch and the start of the NBA’s Summer League. Eventually, the conversation turned to Bronny James joining his father LeBron on the Lakers and Rich Paul Jaylen Browns’ viral comments about the rookie not being pro material.

According to SportsKeeda, Rich didn’t have any negative thoughts about the situation, because he believes that Jaylen Brown meant no harm.

“They have opinions they can say what they want to say…If he has an opinion he can have an opinion. But I know Jaylen Brown and I know he doesn’t mean that with any malice, he’s just having a conversation. It’s just the world that we live in today, why would he think someone’s videoing him saying anything?” Paul said in defense of Jaylen.

In true Rich Paul fashion, he even dropped one of his signature motivational quotes on the topic.

“The NBA is a roller coaster, and Bronny is gonna put the work in and keep getting better. … They don’t run the credits at the beginning of the movie; they run it at the end,” Paul said.

This is something we all should keep in mind while judging Bronny on the court. Lebron’s son hopefully has a long career ahead of him and can shut down detractors. He’s also seemingly unphased and ready to get the Lake Show on the road.

You can watch Rich’s interview with Pat McAfee below.

UnPrisoned returns to HULU this week for Season 2 and we couldn’t be more excited.

When Season 2 begins, we find that things with the Alexander family are still very much messy!

Paige’s therapy practice is in trouble, Finn’s anxiety is through the roof, Edwin is still figuring out how to get his life together outside of prison, and their relationships are more complicated than ever.

‘UnPrisoned’ creator Tracy McMillan spoke to BOSSIP about how the show is all about healing Black family dysfunction and says the second season is about “getting free.”

We’ve been fans of McMillan since her OWN unscripted series Family or Fiancé and she told us that the series is not that much unlike UnPrisoned.

“It’s so interesting because both of the shows really are about Black families and how do we put the Black family back together and how do we take care of ourselves?” McMillan told BOSSIP. “How do we deal with generational trauma? How do we carry it in a way that gives us more freedom? How do we set ourselves free? That’s always part of the Black narrative — freedom. I wanted to do a season about how to get free.”

This season, the Alexanders turn to a “family radical healing coach,” played by John Stamos, who throws out all the rules to free them of their issues, old wounds, and family secrets holding them back.

While Kerry Washington’s character Paige finds her subconscious is still occasionally visited by her younger self Little Paige (Jordyn McIntosh), we noticed that role has decreased substantially from the first season but McMillan, who based the series on her own life experience, says the relationship between Paige and her inner child is still significant.

“I think she’s developing a relationship with that inner self,” McMillan told BOSSIP. “Over the course of season one she was this part of her, so I imagine Little Paige as the part of myself that has never been touched by anything that’s happened to me — the wisest, most whole, most light, that knows every single part of my consciousness and tells me what I need to know and I need to sort of partner with her in moving forward in my own life, but she’s got wisdom for me that I need to know and she will give it to me if I listen so developing that relationship with that part of myself has been a huge key to my own journey of healing all the stuff that I went through in childhood as a result of my dad going to prison. So you’re just seeing that relationship deepen between these two characters who, really she’s a part of Paige.”

While Paige is continuing to grow her practice as a relationship expert on this season of UnPrisoned, McMillan says the show reflects how the healing journey never truly ends for people looking to thrive and not just survive.

“Life is constantly unfolding, whatever your life circumstances are, change is the only sure thing,” McMillan said. “So whether you have kids, like they’re growing or if you don’t, whatever choices they make and this is a lot about the age group, when your your kids start to get a little older or you come into your 40s and you’re like, ‘OK now I know who I am, what is it that I need to work on?’ A lot of it is just survival up to a certain point. When you get to the point where you’re like, ‘I don’t wanna just survive, I wanna make choices, I wanna flourish, how do I do that?’ or ‘I wanna grow how do I do that? That’s what I’m here to explore. What is that process? I know that to be a hopeful sacred journey, it’s the most important work a person can do because it it impacts everything else — your family relationships, your health, so this is important stuff, but I wanted to make it fun.”

Season 2 of UnPrisoned returns to Hulu Wednesday, July 17.

We said it before and we’ll say it again: Joseline Hernandez was RIGHT about Amber Rose.

Amber Rose x Joy Reid

Source: Chip Somodevilla/ Alberto Rodriguez/GA/The Hollywood Reporter / Getty

On Monday, Muva MAGA made it clear where her political ties stood during the Republican National Convention. The crowd rallied for the 40-year-old mother of two when she spoke about the “epiphany” that led to her supporting Trump.

“I believed the left-wing propaganda that Donald Trump was a racist,” she told the audience, before she conducted her own research on the 78-year-old politician, thanks to some convincing from her father, who is also a supporter of the former president.

After some digging, she discovered that Trump “and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, White, gay, or straight — it’s all love.”

Rose added:

“And that’s when it hit me. These are my people. This is where I belong.”

Oh, brother.

Unfortunately for her, MSNBC host Joy Reid lit into her following her endorsement speech during a sizzling (and satisfying) moment.

“This is where the Republican Party is… it’s ironic that they were able to recruit this young woman,” the 55-year-old anchor commented during a discussion about the Slut Walk founder’s support for the convicted Republican.

Reid appeared puzzled by the former stripper’s presence and speculated whether inviting her to the RNC stage was an effort to garner support from Black Americans and other communities of color.

“She’s racially ambiguous. I don’t wanna say she’s Black because she has said she’s not, so I don’t wanna say this Black woman. This woman who is of whatever race that she has claimed, she’s said she’s not Black, but they’ve brought somebody whose whole career is based in Black culture. She used to be on a show on BET. That’s the reason most people know who she is,” the national correspondent said live on air, referencing a 2023 heated exchange Rose had with fellow reality TV star Joseline Hernandez on College Hill.

During the viral spat, the “Live Your Best Live” artist accused Rose of denouncing her Black heritage because she preferred to be identified as mixed.

“She dated one of the most prominent African American rappers in the business, in the history of hip-hop, so her whole culture came from Black culture, even though she said she’s not a Black person herself,“ Reid continued.

“And the fact that she is now the person they’re using to try to recruit young people of color and to say that this is the person who is the endorser of Donald Trump who you should trust when she won’t even claim the culture that brought her to the table, I’m dubious that this will work.”

The MSNBC host added:

“I don’t know anyone who takes their political cues from Amber Rose, but just in case you do, you might want to duplicate doing your own research because she might not have done it thoroughly.”

Yikes!

Amber has since put on her (red) sycophant hat to respond saying:

“Hi @JoyAnnReid I’ve never said I wasn’t black I said I identify as biracial. I’m not going to invalid [invalidate?] my white father to make you feel more comfortable. Stop being a race baiter ur president does enough race baiting for all of us.”

MUVA, pls!

Gladiator 2 asset

Source: Paramount Pictures

Social media is buzzing over Denzel Washington bringing his signature New York bravado to ancient Rome in the glorious trailer for long-awaited sequel Gladiator II.

The iconic actor, 69, will portray a former slave-turned-powerbroker named Macrinus who recruits the gladiator of all gladiators as his instrument to overthrow the Roman empire.

“Denzel is an arms dealer who supplies food for the armies in Europe, supplies wine and oil, makes steel, makes spears, weapons, cannons, and catapults,” revealed Director Ridley Scott in an interview with Vanity Fair. “So he is a very wealthy man. Instead of having a stable of racehorses, he has a stable of gladiators. He’s beautiful. He drives a golden Ferrari. I got him a gold-plated chariot.”

Interestingly, the real-life Macrinus actually became Emperor of Rome after assassinating Caracalla (widely regarded as one of Rome’s cruelest leaders) in 217.

23 years after winning Best Picture at the Oscars, the epic Gladiator saga continues with a new titular character named Lucius (Paul Mescal) who’s forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist.

‘With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people,’ per the official synopsis.

Check out the epic trailer below:

Directed by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott, Gladiator II also stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, and more.

With Denzel stealing the show and Jay Z, Kanye and Frank Ocean smash hit ‘No Church In The Wild’ ringing off in the trailer, the upcoming blockbuster was immediately review bombed because, well, you know why.

At some point, you’d think even racists would take a break but no one works harder than bigots, trolls, and incels looking to be outraged.

Will you be seated for Gladiator II (roaring into theaters Nov. 22)? Tell us down below and peep the social media hysteria over Denzel from around the way bringing NY to Rome on the flip.

Bronny x Jaylen

Jaylen Brown was spotted on camera telling Angel Reese and his girlfriend Kysre Gondrezick, that he doesn’t believe Bronny James is a pro.

If you’re a serial LeBron James watcher, then you’ve noticed that he often covers his mouth when speaking in the presence of cameras, and Celtics star Jaylen Brown should probably follow suit.

According to Complex, on Monday, the NBA Champion was spotted pillow-talking about Bronny James to Angel Reese and his girlfriend Kyrse Gondrezick, and people reading his lips could clearly make out what he was saying.

“I don’t think Bronny [James] is a pro,” said Brown.

Gondrezick seemingly replied, “I think he’ll be on the G-league team for sure.”

Brown seemingly disagreed saying, “I don’t think so; I think because of his name, he’ll be on the Lakers.”

This is a level of playa-hating we haven’t seen in a very long time.

Hours after news of his comments broke, Jaylen Brown attempted to clear the air saying;

“It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the nba it reflects greatness and longevity !Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful I look forward to watching his growth.”

Maybe a champ like Jaylen Brown should consider offering Bronny James mentorship instead of shady comments.

Skip Bayless - 2016 IAVA Heroes Gala

Skip Bayless is reportedly leaving Undisputed one year after Shannon Sharpe’s departure allegedly led to viewership struggles.

Last summer, sports television viewers were on the edge of their seats watching the relationship between Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe sour.

Fellow sports commentator Stephen A. Smith said that after an explosive flare-up about Demar Hamlin’s injury, he knew Shannon Sharpe was ready to exit the show, and claimed that he was actually “pushed out” by Skip himself.

Since Sharpe’s departure, the show has struggled to attract the viewership numbers from the previous years, and now things may be officially over.

According to the New York Post, Skip Bayless is reportedly exiting FS1 and Undisputed after struggling to find his way after Shannon Sharpe’s departure.

The Post reports that in 2021 Bayless signed a shiny four-year deal worth $32 million, but the ratings are not substantiating the blockbuster salary. Bayless’ impending departure news was also confirmed by The Athletic.

Skip’s last show will reportedly air later this summer and Undisputed is scheduled to continue without him.

Young Thug - Celebrities Attend Boston Celtics v Atlanta Hawks

After several attempts to have Judge Ural Glanville recused in Young Thug’s trial, the latest motion has succeeded.

When defense attorney Brian Steel was held in contempt in Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial, it brought the attention of the worldwide legal community who questioned the trial’s fairness. Shortly after being held in contempt, Steel filed a motion to have Judge Ural Glanville recused from the case which Glanville quickly dismissed.

After allegations of an illegal meeting with a star witness, it was questioned if Glanville could rule on the recusal motion, and the motion was passed to Judge Rachel Krause for a ruling.

According to Complex, the Superior Court Judge granted attorney Steel’s motion but said that the alleged illegal meeting between Glanville and star witness Kenneth Copeland was not the reason.

Instead, Judge Krause cited “public trust” as the main reason for her decision.

“This court has no doubt that Judge Glanville can and would continue presiding fairly over this matter if the recusal motions were denied, but the ‘necessity of preserving the public’s confidence in the judicial system’ weighs in favor of excusing Judge Glanville from further handling of this case,” Krause wrote.

According to XXL, Steel and Young Thug look forward to having a judge who will “fairly and faithfully” follow the law.

“Jeffery Williams is innocent of the charges brought in this indictment and to clear his name he sought a speedy trial, one in which he would receive the constitutional guarantees of a fair trial with an impartial judge presiding and ethical prosecutors following the law,” Steel said in a statement to XXL.

“Sadly, Judge Glanville and the prosecutors have run afoul of their duties under of the law. Mr. Williams is grateful that the reviewing court agreed with him and entered the order recusing and disqualifying Judge Glanville from presiding over Mr. Williams’ case. We look forward to proceeding with a trial judge who will fairly and faithfully follow the law.”

For now, Young Thug will have his trial on pause indefinitely and Judge Shukura L. Ingram has been assigned it.

Meagan Good is shutting down speculation about a viral video of Michael Ealy seemingly shading her boo Jonathan Majors and Corretta clapping back at “PR stunt” relationship rumors. “Super unfortunate how people don’t have anything better to do than project on others,” she said, setting the record straight.

Since last week, a video appeared to show a super awkward moment between the controversial couple. On Wednesday night, Good was out and about with her man in Los Angeles when she reunited with Ealy. The newest Power Book II actor gave Good a surprisingly warm embrace.

NitecastMedia originally posted a clip of the moment where Ealy seemingly ignored Majors before going in for a bear hug that lifted Good off the ground. Rapper-turned-Mayor of Kingstown actor D Smoke and his wife also got pulled into a photo op with them. As Ealy posed with his arm still wrapped around his Think Like A Man co-star, it left Majors looking like the odd man out.

Social media sleuths suspected this meant other celebs were snubbing Majors following his recent assault conviction. The video quickly went viral along with conspiracy theories about Ealy trying to send a message with an intentional diss. However, there’s more to the story.

After The Shade Room reposted the viral video, Good kept the same energy we saw during his trial, and stood by her man. The Divorce In The Black actress clapped back in the comments.  people who “don’t have anything better to do” running with that narrative based on a misleading edit.

“So we’re just gonna edit out the first part of the video where Jonathan and Micheal exchange a big hug first and then speak life over each other — ‘before’ he gives me a big brother hug? Lol smh super unfortunate how people don’t have anything better to do than project on others and intentionally perpetuate negative misguided commentary on life snippets they have no real context to, she wrote. “It’s sad. Sigh. But still, God bless yall.”

A longer video of the interaction told the full truth, but that didn’t spread nearly as fast as the drummed-up drama. And the fact-checking didn’t stop there. Meagan has been as busy with damage control about her relationship as she’s been promoting her new film.

Check out what Meagan Good had to say about rumors that she’s dating Jonathan Majors for a “PR stunt” relationship after the flip.

Rapper Wiz Khalifa received an illegal drug possession charge in Romania shortly after smoking while performing.

Festival season is currently taking place overseas, and if you scroll social media you can see your favorite artists from the United States rocking the crowds.  Wiz Khalifa is always a fan favorite across the pond and he was recently booked to perform in Romania at the Beach, Please! Festival.

Wiz rocked the crowd while smoking one of his signature hand-rolled joints, but footage has surfaced of police trying to ruin his high.

According to Barrons (Agence French Presse), Khalifa was charged with illegal drug possession shortly after his performance.

“During a performance at a music festival held in the resort of Costinesti, the accused was found to have possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed (on stage) another quantity in the form of a handmade cigarette,” said the Romanian anti-organised crime prosecutors (DIICOT) in a statement on Sunday, per the AFP.

Romania doesn’t play when it comes to drugs, not even marijuana, and the punishment can be up to 10 years in prison. Wiz is a resident of California where it’s legal, but of course, the laws vary outside of the U.S.

On Sunday, the rapper hopped on social media to apologize to the people of Romania and promised he would return minus the weed smoke.

“Last nights show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage,” Wiz wrote on his X account Sunday morning. “They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a** joint next time.”

Hopefully, this is a sign to any artist overseas working to leave the flower alone until touching back down stateside.

Eddie Murphy has walked down the aisle again.

The 63-year-old comedy legend and father of ten made it official with Australian model Paige Butcher after a six-year engagement. The couple were married in a private ceremony in Anguilla on July 9. Murphy was previously married to model and actress Nicole Murphy from 1993 to 2006.

Murphy and Butcher have been dating for 12 years and are parents to 8-year-old Izzy and 6-year old Max. Famously private about their relationship, the pair hit the red carpet together in 2023 at the Golden Globes Award and Murphy thanked her during his acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

All of Murphy’s children were in attendance at the nuptials, including his daughter-in-law Jasmin Lawrence, who is the eldest child of fellow comedian Martin Lawrence.

Murphy has been back in business making films, including reprising his role as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F for Netflix and prepping the first standalone film for Shrek’s Donkey which is slated to release after the fifth installation of the popular franchise comes to theaters.

What’s Next For Eddie Murphy?

Despite his legendary status, Murphy has managed to keep a relatively low profile. His last Netflix film, You People, which also starred Lauren London and Jonah Hillseemed to mark a relationship between the comedic giant and the streaming juggernaut with rumors of a $70 million deal and a new standup special on the table.

However, the deal appears to only cover the film projects he committed to thus far. In 2023, Murphy revealed that his eventual return to standup would be a little different than people expected.

“[It’s a] whole different world since the pandemic,” he said in an interview with Complex. “But my show won’t just be stand-up; my show will be music and stand-up. Because I can’t just get on the stage and just do jokes because I have all this other stuff now. I’m thinking about how to put together a live show that has everything.”

So far, he completed production on two of the three films he’s slated to release with Netflix. So maybe, we’re closer to a new Eddie Murphy standup than we think.

Congratulations to Eddie Murphy & Paige Butcher!
