Serena Page and Kordell Beckham are starring in Summer Walker’s lyric video for her latest single, “Heart Of A Woman.”

The song chronicles the ups and downs of falling in love, opening up about how hard it is to pull away from toxic relationships, even when you know you should. “Heart Of A Woman” will be included in Walker’s highly-anticipated third studio album, Finally Over It.

Beckham and Page portray those themes perfectly in the lyric video, going back and forth from yelling at one another and arguing passionately, to cuddling on the couch and sharing some kisses.

Serena posted some behind-the-scenes flicks from the video shoot, thanking Walker in her caption as she posted about the experience to Instagram.

“Shout out to @summerwalker for having us in her new video for “Heart Of A Woman”, we had sooooo much fun 😭😭,” she wrote. “The full video is out on YouTube now!!!”

As fans already know, Serena and Kordell went through their fair share of ups and downs on Love Island USA, going from together, to friend-zoned, to broken up, and back together. In the end, their connection was undeniable, and the pair have been inseparable ever since.

Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton are opening up about something they’ve never addressed before in a new episode of their podcast.

TASTE, Presented By Meals On Wheels Atlanta

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty

After meeting and getting married on the first season of Love Is Blind in 2018, Lauren and Cameron instantly became a fan-favorite. To this day, when critics point out that the premise of the show doesn’t often yield good results, fans point to Lauren and Cameron to demonstrate just how well things can go.

But, since they met and wed more than six years ago, a lot of people have been asking when they’re going to expand their family, which has proven to be difficult for the couple. On an episode of their new podcast The Love Seat, Hamilton said, “The number one question we are always asked is, ‘When are you going to have a baby?’”

This is a subject that the Love Is Blind stars have “never talked about before,” with Speed-Hamilton admitting, “This conversation is not the easiest for me.”

“I’ll be honest, I like to share a lot of things but this is one that’s still kind of tough,” she continued. “But I think it’s so important to talk about it so that you can see yourself in the conversation that we’re about to have.”

Despite how difficult of a road it’s been while struggling with fertility, when Cameron asks his wife how she thinks their journey has impacted their relationship, she only has positive things to say.

“It has made us feel more connected,” Lauren replied. “I think we support each other, we’re more in tune now. I feel like in marriage, or any type of relationship, when you go through something that’s big and heavy or weighs on your heart, it creates a bond. I think that it’s actually made us stronger.”

Hamilton started to cry as he opened up about their experience with in vitro fertilization.

“When I saw what you were going through in terms of of taking the medications, doing the daily shots, knowing that IVF and all this stuff wasn’t really something that you naturally wanted to do but you did it for me — you showed me a new level of love that I’d never seen before,” he said.

You can hear more of what Lauren and Cameron have to say about their difficult fertility journey below:

Young Thug -Celebrities Attend Boston Celtics v Atlanta Hawks

Young Thug – Source: Paras Griffin / Getty

Reports surfaced alleging Young Thug and the YSL Rico case could be headed to a mistrial after rumors of plea deal discussions.

Young Thug has been behind bars since May of 2022 after being arrested in a devastating RICO targeting his YSL record label. In RICO indictments the trials mostly end in the favor of prosecutors 99% of the time. However on any given day that 1% chance can prove an underdog is never to be counted out.

The YSL RICO case has become a spectacle and spawned social media stars like YSL Woody. Woody was the star witness who took the stand claiming he told the authorities “whatever they wanted to hear” from him as an informant.

According to 11Alive, the circus may end following an erratic day of court. Several sloppy mistakes from the prosecution with redacted items created a new low in court. Judge Whitaker responded by officially putting a mistrial on the table for Young Thug and the defense.

https://www.twitter.com/ThuggerDaily/status/1849161174954447355

Judge Whittaker also added the mistrial would come without prejudice. This leaves the possibility of the defendants facing the trial again and staying behind bars until the next trial.

https://www.twitter.com/cathyrusson/status/1849164945835069746

On Thursday court was canceled alongside news it wouldn’t resume on Friday either. The news comes as reporters alleged the defense met with District Attorney Fani Willis about possible plea deals.

https://www.twitter.com/cathyrusson/status/1849209836191494158

Plea Deals are usually in favor of the prosecutors but with Young Thug not being a convicted felon it’s likely he won’t accept a plea that changes that. However, it’s up to him if he accepts the deal, not his lawyer, the judge, the DA, or anyone else.

At this point, it’s not confirmed a plea deal was offered nonetheless major developments are expected shortly.

Whether you’re a Black filmmaker, critic, or simply a lover of cinema, we highly recommend the Silicon Valley African Film Festival.

Silicon Valley African Film Festival

Source: Janeé Bolden

Our Sr. Content Director Janeé Bolden had the pleasure of attending the 15th Annual SVAFF in San Jose where she gained insight from founder Chike Nwoffiah and a number of the filmmakers in attendance, including Dr. John Kani, Julie Dash, Souleymane Cissé and Richard Mofe-Damijo who were all honored as 2024 Cultural Icons during the four-day event.

Silicon Valley African Film Festival

Source: Janeé Bolden

SVAFF was launched fifteen years ago when Nwoffiah began using film as a tool in college classrooms.

“I was teaching at one of the universities here, teaching African history and I would bring short clips by African filmmakers into my classroom to help animate my curriculum and my students were just in awe of what we were seeing,” Nwoffiah recalled. “It was challenging the very core of what Africa was or could be. These were short stories, and short films by the storytellers themselves from the continent and that revelation was very clear to me that I needed to take this experience and my students into the bigger Silicon Valley community and invite people to a different conversation about Africa. If only they can sit and hear the Africans and see Africa through the lenses of those Africans…”

Nwoffiah’s first Silicon Valley Film Festival was held on a Saturday for a half day, screening some 10-12 films, but the impact that was felt was immeasurable.

“People came, we had conversations outside the screenings and it was just amazing the reaction,” Nwoffiah recalled. “There was an immediate demand for more and hence was the birth of what today is the 15th annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival. From that humble beginning of half a day, 12 films, this year we’re showing 85 films, 38 countries are represented and the festival spans four days. Cultural competency is important, and when we tell it, we should tell it unapologetically on our terms. That’s why we theme our program ‘Africa Through the African Lens.’ It’s not only about building the continental shelves of Africa, it’s brothers and sisters in our festival connecting throughout the diaspora, from the United States, from Brazil, from Senegal, Nigeria to tell the global African story.”

Our SVAFF experience kicked off on Industry Day, held two days before the official opening ceremony for SVAFF when we joined the participating filmmakers on a visit to YouTube’s office in San Bruno, CA. After our arrival, we were hosted by two employees (members of Black@YouTube) who gave us a tour of the campus and answered questions.

This visit was particularly special because Souleymane Cissé (often referred to as “the greatest living African filmmaker”) was among the group. Hailing from Mali, Cissé’s film Yeelen became the first African film to win the Jury Prize at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival. Cissé was also awarded the Carrosse d’Or award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

In addition to his global recognition and personal accomplishments, Cissé has served as a guiding light to other African filmmakers through his foundation of the Union of West African Cinema and Audiovisual Designers. The definition of a humble giant, Cissé was truly a joy to spend time with during Industry Day. The legendary director mingled with the other filmmakers, laughing and joking, often with his phone camera out, capturing the events of the day. Before leaving the YouTube campus, the festival filmmakers took a moment to pay homage to Cissé.

Nwoffiah also spoke with BOSSIP about his motivation for bringing the filmmakers to YouTube headquarters:

“It’s something that we started several years ago, just to give our guests and filmmakers a taste that is uniquely Silicon Valley,” Nwoffiah told BOSSIP. “We have the world headquarters of all these companies here and we have relationships with these companies, the people that work there are human beings like us, and so we try to use the opportunity to expose our filmmakers and get them into these spaces. We’ve received feedback that it helps demystify these plaforms for them. If you think about the lonely filmmaker in Sudan or somewhere in Brazil, the idea of YouTube is something they interact with on their computer. To be in the physical space that is actually the building and then meet, greet and touch human beings that look like them that work in that space, it does something to their minds. They get to meet senior executives that look like them, have conversations with them about their operations and all of that, and this is uniquely Silicon Valley.”

On Thursday, Oct. 10th., the festival launched its first film summit at San Jose State with the theme “Identities and Representations in African Cinema.” Check out the post below for more details about the panels:

Attendees were treated to a day of panel discussions featuring conversations about film studies, gender, media, distribution, and more. Afterward, Adobe hosted a reception and dinner for the filmmakers.

Next up was at the festival was a School Day offering screenings for local middle school students followed by the official opening ceremony red carpet. By Friday, we’d had so many conversations with the filmmakers taking part that we truly felt like one big family.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DBAvuHXRAL0/?img_index=1

After watching the introductions of this year’s Cultural Icons Souleymane Cissé, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Julie Dash and Dr. John Kani, attendees were directed into the main theater to watch the opening night films, both from Uganda. The first film, a narrative short called Half Chocolate, Half Vanilla, was directed by Kabuye Nodryn Evanci and tells the story of a young woman struggling with vitiligo who learns to appreciate her unique beauty.

The second film, a narrative feature titled Makula directed by Nisha Kalema and Dan Mugisha, also starred Kalema as a woman who believes she’s fallen in love, only to learn that her newlywed husband is running a black market business involving sex slavery as well as human and organ trafficking.

Kalema, who is also an SVAFF alum, was emotional as she described her feelings about having her film be one of the opening night features.

“The first time I had an opening film I think I had no idea what it meant,” Kalema told BOSSIP. “Right now, the pressure is real. All my idols are here, people I really admire and respect i’m honored and excited and nervous all at the same time. I just hope they really like the film.”

On Saturday, festival attendees were treated to an open African market set up outside of the historic Hoover Theater with stalls featuring clothing, fragrance oils, books, toys and more!

Following the shopping experience was Saturday afternoon’s fashion show featuring designers like Cameroon native Kevin of Picasso Style.

We especially loved the look he created for Nigerian acting great Richard Mofe Damijo for opening ceremonies.

A number of great films were shown Saturday but one of our favorites from the weekend was definitely Memories of Love Returned by Ugandan-American actor and director Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, which tied for a Best Documentary Feature win at the Festival. The film tells the story of his encounter with Ugandan photographer Kibaate Aloysius Ssalongo. After randomly stumbling upon the photographer’s studio, Mwine was met with stunning portraits of the people of Mbirizi, some dating back to the 1960’s.

We don’t want to spoil it for you, but stay tuned for more details in our exclusive interview with Mwine. For any readers in London, Memories of Love Returned will be premiering at Film Africa Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6pm at the Ritzy Picturehouse. For tickets and more info, click HERE.

Another favorite from the weekend was Celestina Aleobua’s documentary short Tina, When Will You Marry?. The film addresses the pressures women often face to get married and explores the experiences of three very different Nigerian-Canadian women.

You can visit the SVAFF website for a full synopsis of all the films shown and hit the flip for more details from the SVAFF closing ceremonies

Very few duos are more dynamic than Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre who celebrated the launch of their ultra-premium gin Still G.I.N. By Dre And Snoop at a swanky NYC soirée with special guest Martha Stewart in the building.

Check out the video recap below:

The glamorous affair doubled as the kickoff or the NYC Wine & Food Festival where the Hip-Hop icons toasted to their first foray into the pure premium spirit space following the success of their canned Gin & Juice canned cocktail.

According to a press release, Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop “stands out as a clean, light modern gin that’s highly mixable – and supremely drinkable. As the first pure bottled spirit with Dre and Snoop’s official cosign, the game-changing Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop proves modern yet elegant, bursting with notes of tangerine, jasmine, and coriander for an unforgettable aromatic finish.”

“This is not a liquor that we’re just putting our name on,” said Dr. Dre in a statement. “It’s just like we did with Beats headphones. Everything is us from the ground up: the gin, the flavor, the packaging… Everything had to be perfect. Snoop said it best: we’re better together – it’s always magical. It’s incredible to know that you’ve got something amazing that you feel is gonna really work. From the look to the taste, it’s all there.”

“Every day in the studio when Dre and I were trying to make the dopest music, we were drinking gin and just having fun,” he continued. “We’ve been a part of the evolution of this gin – from the creation of the flavor, to the percentage of alcohol that’s in it – and it’s just so good! Dre’s a perfectionist: he wants to make sure it’s not just good, but great. Together, we ain’t gonna do nothing regular!”

Paying homage to one of their biggest collabs, Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop joins Gin & Juice By Dre And Snoop (which, of course, pays homage to Snoop’s Dre-produced hit “Gin and Juice”) in the growing business portfolio of the winning tandem.

Marissa, I was rooting for you…we were all rooting for you!

Marissa Love Is Blind Season 7

Source: Courtesy / Netflix

On the final episode of this season of Netflix’s Love Is Blind, fans saw Marissa George and Ramses Prashad call off their relationship shortly before they were set the get married. The split came as a shock to Marissa, who asked Ramses if he was “sure” multiple times–but he didn’t budge.

The former couple got engaged in the pods during Season 7, which was filmed in October 2023. Things were going smoothly for George and Prashad until they started living together and meeting one another’s family and friends, which really highlighted all of their differences.

Ramses was not shy about his strong disdain for the military and veterans like Marissa, insisting it would be an instant divorce if she ever wanted to re-enlist. Despite his facade as someone who’s extremely liberal and fights for the people, he didn’t support Marissa’s right to human autonomy, getting upset that she wasn’t in the mood to have sex with him while she was sick, among other things.

Ramses didn’t even disagree when Marissa compared him to the high percentage of men who leave their wives when they get sick!

In spite of all this, George still wanted to marry Prashad, but he got cold feet, breaking things off seemingly out of nowhere without giving his then-fiancée a real reason. Fast forward a year later, and in a new interview with Glamour, Marissa reveals she tried rekindling things with Ramses, who quickly shut her down.

“We saw each other a few times after [we broke up]. I took the breakup really hard, as you can imagine from the scene of me crying and stuff,” she said in the interview, published on Wednesday, Oct. 23. “It took me probably six months to get back on track and to really start to move on.”

Marissa continued, “I saw him a few times when I was in D.C., and there was one time where we talked one day for like, 8 and a half, 9 hours on the phone, and I thought we were gonna get back together after that.”

That’s when she revealed that she actually tried to get back together with Ramses, who shot her down.

“[In] February or March, I did ask him if he wanted to get back together,” Marissa said. “I’m not really ashamed to say that because I’m someone who’s like, ‘If you feel it, you feel it, like, what’s the worst that can happen?’ And he’s like, ‘Nah.’ So after that, we just stopped communication.”

As for what caused Ramses to call off the marriage, Marissa still has no idea.

“Throughout the whole breakup — which made it worse — he couldn’t really give me a reason. To this day, I don’t know if he really has a good reason,” Marissa told Glamour. “I think he has tried to pinpoint certain things, like that I listened to podcasts in the morning and I sing in the shower type of stuff. But at the time of the breakup, he was just like, ‘I don’t feel at peace anymore, and I feel like our energies off and I’m gonna hurt you in five years, but I love you and want to be with you, but this is moving too fast.’”

Marissa, baby, that’s what we call a blessing in disguise!

Marissa and Ramses will hash out their breakup the Love Is Blind reunion, which drops on Netflix on Oct. 30 at 9 p.m. ET.

Are you ready for holiday movie season?

Meet Me Next Christmas asset

Source: Netflix

All Christina Milian wants for Christmas is Kofi Siriboe in Netflix’s upcoming holiday Rom-Com Meet Me Next Christmas where the bubbly singer-turned-actress scrambles to find the hottest ticket in town for a merry meet-cute with the man of her dreams.

“Layla is a girl that knows what she wants,” said Milian about her character in an interview with TUDUM. “She’s got a good head on her shoulders, and when she knows she wants something, she goes for it. She doesn’t let anything stop her.”

Check out the swoon-worthy trailer below:

With the help of a kind-hearted concierge named Teddy (Devale Ellis), Layla (Milian) sets out on a seemingly impossible mission to find sold out Pentatonix tickets and be reunited with her romantic interest James (Siriboe).

“You’ll see the sacrifices he makes for his mom,” said Ellis about his character. “He’s willing to do anything for his cousin. But most importantly, he’s willing to do anything for Layla because he takes his job seriously. And he’s the best cook.”

Based on some obvious winks in the trailer (and the photo still below), it seems like Teddy will end up falling for Layla while helping her get her fairytale ending with a man who isn’t him.

Directed by Rusty Cundieff, the feel-good film (premiering Nov. 6 on Netflix) also stars Tymika Tafari, Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, Matt Sallee, Kalen Allen, Nikki Duval, and Wesley French.

An article was recently published in the Atlantic that accused Donald Trump of being cheap, racist, and disrespectful to a slain military officer and her family — all allegations that are easy AF to believe due to Trump’s easily verifiable track record of being a money-grubbing racist who is consistently disrespectful to military personnel and their family members. (More on that in a sec.)

Donald Trump Holds Campaign Rally In Greensboro, NC As He Campaigns For President

Source: Anna Moneymaker / Getty

In the article, the Atlantic’s Editor-in-Chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, alleged that Trump welched on his promise to pay the funeral costs of Vanessa Guillén, a 20-year-old Army private who was bludgeoned to death by another solider in 2020 at Ford Hood in Texas, once he found out what the cost of her funeral would be.

“‘It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f‑‑‑‑‑‑ Mexican!’” Trump said, according to Goldberg. “He later turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: ‘Don’t pay it!’”

But Guillén’s sister, Mayra Guillén, denied that Trump said what the article claimed, and she expressed disappointment in the publication for what she alleged was a media ploy to score political points off of her sister’s death.

“Wow. I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics- hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members,” Mayra posted on X Tuesday. “President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa. In fact, I voted for President Trump today.”

The article claimed that Guillén’s family attorney, Natalie Khawam, told the Atlantic that she sent the bill for the funeral to the White House but no money was ever received. Khawam claims Goldberg misrepresented what she actually said.

“Not only did he misrepresent our conversation but he outright LIED in HIS sensational story,” Khawam tweeted. “More importantly, he used and exploited my clients, and Vanessa Guillen’s murder… for cheap political gain.”

Of course, Khawam wasn’t at all specific about how Goldberg misquoted her; she just called him a liar and got the MAGA conspiracy theorists all revved up by noting “the timing of this ‘story,’” which she called “quite suspicious.”

The Atlantic eventually published a statement sent by Trump campaign adviser Alex Pfeiffer, who wrote that the allegations were “absolutely false.”

“President Donald Trump has spent his life caring for America’s military heroes…,” Pfeiffer wrote. “There has been no greater advocate for our brave military men and women than Donald J. Trump.”

And there it is.

INDIANA, PA - SEPTEMBER 23: Republican presidential candidate F

Source: The Washington Post / Getty

See, they almost had me. For a second, I almost thought to myself: “Well, sh*t. Maybe it actually was “fake news” this one time. Maybe Goldberg conjured up a fake racist Trump quote that sounded nearly identical to a myriad of actual racist Trump quotes. Maybe the pathological-liar-in-chief just got served a pinch of his own medicine, and, if so, that was wrong.

But then Trump’s campaign reminded me that there’s no reason to take the denial of MAGA minions at face value — because, seriously, Trump “has spent his life caring for America’s military heroes” and “there has been no greater advocate” that he?

Pfeiffer couldn’t be talking about the same Donald Trump who, just in August, bragged that the Presidential Medal of Freedom is a “better” award than the Medal of Honor because that medal is only received by “soldiers” who are either “dead” or in “bad shape” because they’ve been shot so many times. This couldn’t be the same Trump who, at the beginning of this month, described the traumatic brain injuries that 109 U.S. service members were diagnosed with as “a headache.” Perhaps Trump’s campaign has forgotten the time when an allegation was co-signed by at least one of his own former senior administration officials that he called U.S. military soldiers killed in combat “suckers” and “losers.” Maybe it slipped his handlers’ minds that he allegedly disrespected the widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson by telling her the Black veteran who died in combat in 2017 knew “what he signed up for.” (Trump has also been accused of mocking Johnson’s death.)

But even if Trump’s people had forgotten all of that, I know damn well they remember when the accused-draft-dodger-in-chief said this about late combat veteran John McCain:

“He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

Again, whether Trump actually said what the Atlantic reported he said about Vanessa Guillén, his record easily indicates why it’s not an implausible story.

Whatever, I believe it.

Paul George - Philadelphia 76ers Media Day

Sixers star Paul George is blasting NBA media for alleged meat-watching in the locker room.

Paul George has departed the Los Angeles Clippers after signing a hefty four-year deal worth $212M with the Philadelphia 76ers. George’s departure comes after several years of carrying the Clippers on his back with minimal support from Kawhi Leonard. Injuries sidelined both teammates, with George playing 76 games last year for the first time in this decade.

When he’s not on the court, however, Paul is slowly becoming a media powerhouse with his show Podcast P.

According to TMZ, George recently used his platform to back claims from his NFL brothers about penis-watching media reporters. After alleging he’s noticed reporters peaking at players’ private parts, George called for banning media in the locker room.

“I would say majority of the locker room, bro, they’re naked [when reporters come in],” George said. “Like, we’re in towels. We’re naked. We just got out the shower. And then you have these reporters in there and, like, they’re not staring at a wall, you know what I mean? They’re looking at us.”

One reporter from George’s time in Washington was called out directly for allegedly staring at penises while athletes dressed after games.

“There was an incident, even way back in my time in the NBA, where guys would talk about this situation. There was a reporter in Washington that would stare at dudes’ meat,” said George.

The NFLPA recently released a statement addressing the allegations and the need to amend the media policy.

“The NFL’s current media policy is outdated. We, the NFLPA Executive Committee, urge the NFL to make immediate changes to foster a more respectful and safer workplace for all players. In the meantime, we encourage each player to ask for interviews outside the locker room during the week.”

In an era of player empowerment, it’s surprising that this issue hasn’t already been resolved. Players shouldn’t have to request interviews outside the locker room to receive privacy, it should be the norm.  Hopefully, a resolution can be found immediately.

Bailey and her ex-boyfriend, Youtuber-turned-rapper DDG, called off their relationship less than a year after welcoming their 9-month-old son, Halo.

“After much reflect and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” DDG wrote in a statement on Oct. 3. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.”

He went on to say, “We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”

While the source of the split is still unknown, and Bailey herself hasn’t said much about the breakup, she’s now opening up about what this new chapter in life means for her.

In a recent interview with E! News, the Little Mermaid star revealed that her current journey is all about self-love.

“I think this new chapter in my life is just all about self-love and giving all that love that I pour out of myself back into myself,” she said to the outlet. “I feel like you have to fill yourself up in order to be able to love other people and beings.”

Bailey went on to explain how focusing on herself would also help the people around her, especially her baby.

“My son, for example, I want to make sure I’m fully there for him,” she continued. “I think it’s really essential to our self-worth.”

“I think the best part of motherhood is knowing that you are being loved unconditionally by this beautiful being that you were given,” Halle said. “And he is a reminder to continue to love yourself, and that you’re important and special because of how much he needs you.”

While on the topic of self-love and mental health, Bailey also revealed what she turns to when she needs to completely reset.

“Travel is so important to me because it’s essential to my mental health,” she said. “I work so much a lot of the time, and I’m a new mom—there’s all these factors playing into my brain as a young woman now. And I feel like traveling really just helps me reset.”
