Vibey Virgo 2 Chainz was back with more flower powered funnn at his 4th Annual ‘Luv Me Sum U’ fest that brought out foxy ladies and famous friends including Gucci Mane, Kawhi Leonard, Jhonni Blaze, Kiyomi Leslie, Khaotic, Ralo, and more for oldies but goodies, hippie hijinx, and color-splashed art in the A.

Oh yes, it was a vibe!

Curated by exquisite eventress Hannah Kang and her MBP Events team, the groovy event was a fitting follow-up to last year’s shroomy spectacle where Iman Shumpert, Dwight Howard, Lou Williams, Lil Duval, and many more enjoyed a special performance by the legendary Isley Brothers.

The epic bash comes after the “Birthday Song” rapper was introduced as the spokesperson for PepsiCo’s ‘Taste of Tomorrow’ campaign that aims to fund HBCU Students in STEM.

“As an HBCU Alum, I’m excited to share my platform and partner with the PepsiCo’s Taste of Tomorrow initiative to support diversity in STEM and encourage students, all while bringing awareness to the talented graduates coming from HBCUs entering the workforce,” said Chainz in a statement.

With Chainz keeping the energy where it needs to be, Pepsi Zero Sugar and Doritos will engage students and fans on-campus through on-the-ground culinary innovations created by in-house chefs and food-science experts to inspire at-home food innovation. Can you dig it?

Things aren’t looking good for disgraced mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs who was indicted on federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation for purposes of prostitution.

As previously reported, Combs was taken into federal custody months after the Feds raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.

Fast-forward to the latest disturbing development via federal prosecutors who allege that Combs “threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires” for years, per NBC News.

He’s also being accused of “creating a criminal enterprise” whose members and associates engaged in “various crimes including “sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice,” according to court docs.

“When employees, witnesses to his abuse, or others threatened Combs’ authority or reputation, Combs and members and associates of the Enterprise engaged in acts of violence, threats of violence, threats of financial and reputational harm, and verbal abuse,” reads the indictment. “These acts of violence included kidnapping and arson. In addition, on multiple occasions, Combs threw both objects and people as well as hit, dragged, choked, and shoved others.”

TMZ reports that a major part of the allegations centers on Diddy’s alleged “freak offs,” first described by Cassie Ventura in her 2023 lawsuit that was settled just one day later.

Prosecutors described freak offs as “elaborate, produced sex performances” orchestrated by the music mogul” who allegedly directed and recorded the events while masturbating.

“Combs subjected victims to physical, emotional and verbal abuse to cause the victims to engage in freaks offs,” reads the indictment. “Combs maintained control overs his victims through among other things, physical violence, promises of career opportunities, granting and threatening to withhold financial support and by other coercive means including tracking their whereabouts dictating the victims’ appearance, monitoring their medical records, controlling their housing and supplying them with controlled substances.”

“During and separate from freak offs, Combs among other things, hit, kicked, threw objects at, and dragged victims at times by their hair. These assaults often resulted in injuries that took days or weeks to heal.”

In one of the more disturbing details of the case, Combs allegedly had a stockpile of “freak off supplies” that included 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant seized by the Feds. That, alone, is worthy of prison if true. 1 year for every bottle.

The indictment reads:

“Members and associates of the Combs Enterprises including high-ranking supervisors, security staff, household staff, personal assistants and other Combs Business employees, facilitated the Freak Offs by, among other things, booking hotel rooms for the Freak Offs; stocking the hotel rooms in advance with the required Freak Off Supplies including controlled substances, baby oil, lubricant, extra linens and lighting; cleaning the hotel rooms after the Freak Offs to try to mitigate room damage; arranging for travel for victims, commercial sex workers, and Combs to and from Freak Offs; resupplying Combs with requested supplies; delivering large sums of cash to Combs to pay the commercial sex workers; and scheduling the delivery of IV fluids.”

Speaking to reporters, Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo declared that he would “fight like hell” to get Diddy released.

Agnifilo said Diddy’s spirits are “good” and called his client confident while pleading his innocence.

“He’s not guilty, he’s innocent of these charges.”

Naturally, social media spiraled into chaos over the federal charges that paint the picture of a wealthy and powerful man behaving like a real-life supervillain.

Which detail from the indictment shocked you the most? Do you think it’s a wrap for Diddy? Tell us down below and peep the viral reactions to Diddy’s federal indictment on the flip.

Coincidentally, the Dallas Cowboys made Dak Prescott the highest-paid player in NFL history with a 4-year, $240 million contract extension ahead of the Doc’s debut later this month.

The deal includes $231 million guaranteed–the most in league history.

Whew, Dak got moneyyy!

“I know that these numbers are beyond anything that I could have ever imagined,” said famed Cowboys owner Jerry Jones of the massive amount of guaranteed money.

Also worth noting is the $60 million average annual value of Prescott’s contract AND $80 million signing bonus raising the bar as the highest in NFL history.

“This was the thing to do for what we’re here for–and that is to win a championship,” Jones continued. “I know our fans know that. I’m surprised that anyone would think that anything short of — they might disagree with the decision — but anything short of a commitment is just not the case with me.

“I gave everything I ever had or hoped to have to get a chance to be a part of the Cowboys. And it’s beyond my fondest dreams where we stand today.”

Angela Bassett received her first Emmy Award on Sept. 7 after a storied career and nine nominations.

Angela Bassett celebrates win at 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards - Day 1 - Press Room

Source: Variety / Getty

The queen of all things received her trophy at the annual Creative Arts Emmys ceremony for her work narrating the National Geographic series Queens. She took home the “Best Narrator” honors, marking her very first win in over 30 years.

“It feels good; really, really good,” she said in her acceptance speech. “Thank you to National Geographic, Wild Star Film, and all the directors — all women — who brought this incredible story, this incredible docuseries centered on the ferocious and magnificent things in the animal kingdom. I couldn’t be more thrilled and more grateful.”

The seven-part series is all about the matriarchies that exist throughout the animal kingdom and featured an all-female production team, which Bassett said was “one of the big draws and highlights” of the project she nearly turned down.

“It was summertime. It was hiatus [for 9-1-1]. It had been a long season. I was looking forward to going on vacation, spending time with the family, and downtime from work because it’s a continuous roller coaster,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “But they came back around and sent me the sizzle reel and I said, ‘OK, let me put my full attention on this for a moment and see what the project is exactly.’ Once I did that, it didn’t pass me by.”

In response to the award being her first, our ever-gracious monarch evoked gratitude for the moment and all the creatives who worked on the project.

“We don’t work for these, but we receive them for all the hard work that we do,” she said after her win. “Of course, it’s not work that you do alone, even though it’s a narration, but there’s a whole team that pursued me and believed in me, fought for me, and worked with me to tell this amazing story of females in the wild kingdom, led by an all-female-led production team team, a first in wildlife documentary filmmaking. So that was pretty inspiring to me in and of itself.”

Dame Dash is owning his flaws after he accidentally revealed that he is missing several front teeth. Dash’s teeth became a focal point after his grills fell out while he was on Instagram Live. However, the businessman is not dismayed as he later discusses the mishap in a separate IG live session.

Stoop Talk With Dame Dash

We may have 50 Cent to thank for this viral moment! On September 4, Dash took to Instagram Live to challenge the “Many Men” rapper to a “CEO war.” This came after 50 Cent joined the Million Dollaz Worth of Game and stated that Dash was broke.

In response to the G-Unit rapper, Dash began pitting his streaming service, American Nu Network, against 50’s Action Network.

“I wanna see how real it is,” he stated. “I wanna see your television network. I wanna see you direct a movie. I wanna see your clothing line. I wanna see if you the real deal.”

As he was about to take a sip of his drink, Dash’s teeth grills shockingly fell out of his mouth. To avoid further embarrassment, Dash turned the camera and adjusted his teeth. Still, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder didn’t find the moment overly embarrassing as he later posted the clip, poking fun at himself.

In the caption, he wrote, “My diamond grills popped out because that’s what happens when you’re broke.”

While most people would find this moment to be super awkward, Dame Dash is not concerned. A few days after the mishap, he joined Instagram Live again to explain. He was sure to clarify that he does not wear dentures.

“First of all, s**t is not dentures. These are my grills,” he asserted. “What happened was I have to go get implants put in ’cause I have implants. And I got them 20 years ago, and every 20 years, you gotta switch them out. So I have to do surgery—pause—oral.”

In a rather bold move, Dash then removed his grills so everyone could get a better look at his missing front teeth. He also stated that he thought it was pretty funny.

“I thought it was hilarious,” he stated.

To add more hilarity to the situation, when filmmaker Bryan Barber later joined the live session, Dash referred to Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us.”

“Sometimes you gotta pop out on n*****.”

Dash also used the opportunity to promote his streaming network further. He also stated that he was glad the moment led to 50 Cent responding to him.

Black man shaving image

For nearly a half-century, Black men have collectively used electric clippers instead of traditional shaving razors that would often cause hyperpigmentation, unsightly bumps, skin irritation, and grooming anxiety.

According to data provided by Gillette, 29% of Black men claim they are either very or extremely bothered by razor bumps when wet shaving compared to only 16% for other men which can be attributed to the unique genetics of darker skin tones.

The naturally coarse or curly hair follicles can curve into melanin-rich skin causing painful ingrown hairs and razor bumps on the skin.

Knowing this, Black Gillette employees (who were proud of the company’s products but had never been able to use the razors) voiced the need for a product that addressed their shaving needs and the rest is history.

With help from those employees and a Boston-area fireman (required to shave regularly as part of safety protocol), Gillette’s R&D team was able to develop the innovative SkinGuard line that would become the company’s first razor to clinically decrease razor bumps on darker skin.

Gillette SkinGuard asset

Source: Gillette

To accomplish this, the razor was formatted with a patented irritation defense bar “allowing blades to remove hair while barely touching the skin, optimally spaced low-cutting force blades to protect against ingrown hairs, and enhanced lubrication protecting skin from irritation.”

In a 12-week clinical trial where Black men shaved using a SkinGuard razor five times a week, Gillette reports that they reduced the occurrence of razor bumps by 61%.

Proud of Gillette’s culturally inclusive innovation, Grooming Brand Director at Procter & Gamble, Kalasi Huggins, took us through the moment where Black Gillette employees made history and more in our interview below.

BOSSIP: Take me through that moment when SkinGuard was manifested at the company.

Kalasi Huggins:

Yes, definitely. So we have employee resource groups and we’re super proud in Boston to have a long standing tradition of our African ancestry employees from all over the globe, whether it’s African American or different African nations, the Caribbean, etc. in our organization working together not only to impact the Black community in Boston, locally, but also to make a difference in recruitment, talent development, etc.

And the group is called AALG (African Ancestry Leadership Group) and in our sessions we have direct lines to the highest levels of the company and the employees. So, these are employees that span multiple functions. You have engineers, you have finance people etc. and a few of them said, ‘I love this company, love this brand, love this business. It’s changed my life and everything that we have going on has been great for me but I haven’t really got into a habit of using some of our most premium products. And, you know, I’m using something else in our portfolio. I always get bumps and breakouts when I use our five bladed razors specifically and not necessarily having the same issues with our disposable products, etc. our safety razors or single blades.’

And that generated a plethora of actions to do something different because there is the benefit of when you have a five bladed razor it’s super, super close but that closeness doesn’t work for everyone.

So that’s where Gillette SkinGuard comes into play and we launched it in 2019. It’s a clinically proven razor for sensitive skin and in our clinical testing, it could help reduce the occurrence of bumps by up to 60%.

And that was something that, in that moment, we took the insight from employees and said, ‘you know, this part of our portfolio, our systems razors are designed for something that delights a lot of men but causes issues for others. Let’s do something different.’ And Gillette SkinGuard was born.

And now with our updates and relaunch of SkinGuard, it’s about adding the complementary regent to that. So Gillette SkinGuard gel moisturizer and face scrub all work together to help prevent ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and shaving irritation that was funnel management.

What was the initial reaction of management to the employee feedback?

Sometimes I look around and I’m lucky and happy to be in the corporate environment that I am versus others. The reaction was generally positive and there was a bias to go act right away. Our Founder of Gillette, King C. Gillette–one of his hallmark statements that we still have on the walls of our building is, ‘we’ll stop making razors when we can’t find a way to make them better.’

Innovation is in our lifeblood in this building and any opportunity to make the razor better, we take it, our leadership takes it seriously and they act on it right away.

There’s a lot of competition right now in this marketplace. Why is Gillette so confident in this product? What makes this product worthy of the push it’s going to get in the coming months?

This is clinically proven and it works and competition is good when you have an environment that’s more competitive. It means that there’s a broader awareness of specific issues or skin conditions, a broader awareness of the needs of specific consumers, which creates a great environment for us to communicate the benefits of our products.

Our razor not only is clinically proven but our gel, the SkinGuard gel, moisturizer and face scrub are clinically tested for sensitive skin. And as a complete regimen, we have data and we also have consumers that message us saying that it works, it feels different, and it helps to alleviate those bumps and ingrown.

So in this environment, we are very confident that based on what consumers have told us over the past since 2018, 2019 when we first launched the razor, and what we’re hearing now with the full regimen that we have something that’s making a difference and improving the quality of life for men who have previously suffered from those bumps and issues.

I’m sure you have initiatives to reach a younger Black demo like myself who exclusively uses clippers. Are you going to be at NCAA events or do more HBCU outreach? What’s the conversation around that?

Yeah, absolutely. So I am extremely excited to talk about this because it’s critically important to us, our business, and how we serve consumers and make a difference in their lives.

I point to a few things that come to mind immediately: HBCUs–we have activated in partnership with our parent company Proctor & Gamble with a few HBCUs.

Obviously there’s product sampling, there’s product education but it’s engaging with students during the first few weeks of campus to make sure we get to a strong start engaging with them at those culturally important moments in college life.

Whether it’s the Homecomings, the Classics, the Fraternity/Sorority events, and ensuring that we have an authentic presence–I’m extremely proud of that work. We’re continuing it, it’s going into its second year. We have local activations. Cincinnati Music Festival, we’ve done partnerships and engagements there. We have also partnered with people in the local Boston community [through initiatives like] ‘Being Black In Boston’–a new partnership for us coming up this year.

And we’ve partnered with a plethora of organizations with the goal of making sure that we serve consumers first and also introduce the benefits of our products thereafter.

Martin Lawrence took time during his Y’all Know What It Is! comedy tour to address speculations about his health.

Though he previously tried to lay the rumors to rest during his press run for Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Lawrence decided to work it into his set in the city where his iconic sitcom took place. On Friday, August 30, the comedian addressed the crowd at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit the way only he can.

“Motherfuckers talking about me and s**t,” he said. Talking about I had a stroke and s**t. Does this look like a motherf**ker that had a stroke?”

The 59-year-old performer then demonstrated some moves to prove he is as agile as ever.

“That look like a motherf**ker that had a stroke? I be strokin’,” he said. “Then they talking about I’m talking slow and lethargic and all that..I’m probably high.”

The rumors went into overdrive when Lawrence and Will Smith hit the road to promote the fourth installment of their blockbuster juggernaut as some fans noted the comedian seemed to be a step or two behind. During a stop at Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, Lawrence said,

“I’m fine. I’m in Gods hands. I’m blessed. I’m glad to be waking up everyday and everything. No need for people to be concerned.”

This isn’t the first time Lawrence has spoken to the idea of substances being the cause of odd behavior from the comedian. In his 2002 comedy special, Run Tell Dat, the performer opened up about drug and alcohol use that led to his arrest and hospitalization.

It seems that Lawrence is still always willing to tell it like it is when it comes to his personal life. Fans of the comedian can catch him on tour for the rest of the year into early 2025. We love to see our comedy legends still packing out arenas.

Since his debut album in 2016, Kaytranada has certainly become known for his infectious music. His production style has caught the eye of major artists like Alicia Keys, Kali Uchis, and Snoop Dogg. Kaytranada revealed that he missed his chance to work with one of the biggest names in hip-hop, but they both ended up saying, “Honestly, Nevermind.”

Kaytranada recently sat down with Vulture and gave away juicy details regarding Drake‘s 2022 house music-inspired album Honestly, Nevermind. According to the music producer, he had the chance to produce the entire album alongside Drake. Kay was ready and willing, but apparently, he wasn’t excited enough about the opportunity. The 32-year-old told the outlet that during an after-party for Coachella, he was asked if he was interested in producing for the album.

His response was, “Sure, hit me up.”

However, the response was too lackluster for Drake, and the invitation to produce for him was revoked. Though willing to work on the project, Kaytranada had no plans of fangirling over the opportunity.

“Was I supposed to be like, ‘Oh my God, for real? Drake?’ I’m not like that.”

Nevertheless, life continued, and Drake commissioned his friend and frequent collaborator, 40, to work on the album. Gordo and Black Coffee were also a part of the team that brought the project to life. Kaytranada remains unfazed and focused on his recent album release, Timeless. He may not have worked on Honestly, Nevermind, but according to Complex, the music producer’s impact is evident.

“The album’s overall sound leans more into the dance and house space — similar to Kaytranada’s music,” the outlet stated.

During his interview with Vulture, Kaytranada also revealed that he turned down the opportunity to work with Beyoncé. You may recall that in 2023, the Haitian-Canadian producer remixed “Cuff It” during his Coachella set. Fans and music listeners, including Queen Bey, fell in love with his version. Many asked for the song to be released on streaming platforms, but it is unlikely ever to happen. Beyoncé reportedly offered to pay Kaytranada for the rights to the song, but he declined.

“Sometimes people don’t see your worth and how important you are,” he said. I know what I mean to people,” he told the outlet.

Do you think “Honestly, Nevermind” would have been better with Kaytranada’s touch?

Considering that he’s one of the prettiest actors in Hollywood, it’s quite the plot twist that Keith’s upcoming movie is Netflix’s Uglies about a futuristic world that imposes cosmetic surgery at 16 as a right of passage.

Uglies asset

“Basically what happens is, you’re afforded a surgery when you turn 16-years-old so you can look any way you want to look,” director McG told Netflix. “It’s the belief of the society that if we all look the way we want, you can eradicate conflict.”

Check out the trailer below:

Based on Scott Westerfeld’s best-selling novel, Uglies stars Powers, Joey King, Chase Stokes, Brianne Tju, Jan Luis Castellanos, Charmin Lee, and Laverne Cox.

“The film’s really about beauty as interior,” McG continued. “It’s a commentary on what we’re experiencing today, where so many people can’t just take a photograph and post it on social media.

You’ve got to put it through the filter, you’ve got to edit it, you’ve got to do the thing to present this idealized version of beauty. And this is a moment to say, ‘Take a deep breath, work on your inner game, love people for who they are, and accept yourself for who you are,’ and strangely, it’s a much more fruitful way to live.”

Uglies releases globally on Netflix Sept. 13, 2024.
