New King Combs and Future!
With outside reopening and the city boys/hot girls flocking to get vaccinated, we’re expecting this upcoming summer to be legendary with a poppin’ playlist featuring King Combs‘s new collab with Future that’s sure to be on repeat at sun-splashed day parties across the country.
The young mogul, model and rapper, who made his first Billboard chart and received his first Gold Plaque, continues to impress with his genetic Bad Boy bravado that’s present on “Holdin Me Down” produced by 808 Mafia (Southside, DY Crazy & TM88).
King Combs especially wanted to release the track around Women’s History Month as a celebratory song for the ladies who keep it exclusive and hold it down for their partners.
“Holdin’ Me Down” is accompanied by a special artsy merch drop designed by Tyra Myricks (who’s also Head Designer of Drake’s OVO clothing line).
King Combs made fashion industry moves during the pandemic as the first male to collaborate with Rihanna on her Savage X Fenty collection and closed out the year with a Valentino SS21 campaign.
He also focused on his music heavily during the shut down by working on his summer album that he thinks may be his fans’ favorite body of work by him.
For those very late to the party, Christian Combs (also known as King Combs) is a American Hip-Hop artist, model, entrepreneur and son of Diddy and Kim Porter from New York, NY who created his own unique lane in the industry.
Perfecting the art of expression in lifestyle and entrepreneurship, the emerging rapper delivers music with confidence while making his mark in the fashion industry.
Combs has worked with brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger and collaborated with artists like Pop Smoke Chris Brown and Teyana Taylor.
With the merging of worlds, Combs is marking his territory with the future of Rap in his hands.
Give them their flowers!
Publicists are unsung heroes–the real MVPS–who guide clients, elevate careers, connect move-makers with power-players, flip potential disasters into wins with one eye on their phone and the other on their email-flooded laptop during 22-hour work days.
For years, they’ve enhanced major industries with priceless expertise, impossible amounts of patience and grace so it’s only right that we close out Women’s History Month by delivering their long overdue flowers.
At times, we don’t know how they stay sane, especially those in entertainment like famed Beyoncé rep Yvette Noel-Schure who had to shut down the BeyHive after they attempted to drag Nicole Curran–wife of Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob–for talking to Jay Z in Beyoncé’s presence.
As expected, the Hive dragged Curran who clarified that she was only asking Jay and Bey if they wanted drinks.
Hours later on Instagram, Schure posted a pic of Beyoncé and Jay-Z from the On The Run II tour, writing:
“I am looking back today at the start of The OTRII tour, one year ago. It was a place of joy, unimaginable entertainment from two of the best performers in the world, and a place of love. Every single day on that tour I saw love. Which is why I also want to speak here to the beautiful BeyHiVE.
I know your love runs deep but that love has to be given to every human. It will bring no joy to the person you love so much if you spew hate in her name. We love you.”

2021 continues to give 2020 a run for its money and then some. From Meghan Markle and Prince Harry putting the Royal Family through the wringer to fans witnessing the swift demise of Saweetie and Quavo’s cute coupledom, March turned out to be a rollercoaster month full of moments we truly did not expect. Below are 10 of the most viral events of the last 31 days. Brace yourself.
After waiting decades, Coming To America fans finally got the sequel they’d been looking forward to. The follow-up saw Eddie Murphy reprise his role as Prince Akeem, as he was crowned King and headed back to Queens, NY to find the illegitimate son he unknowingly fathered in the first movie. Hilarious and timely, the film was full of teachable moments, big belly laughs, and Black Girl Magic. The all-star cast truly did its thing, but of course not everyone thought the second installation lived up to the 1988 classic.
Check out some of the earliest reactions to the the new flick here and let us know what you thought.
After teasing her tell-all interview, Oprah Winfrey’s shocking conversation with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finally aired, leaving the world stunned. With no question off-limits, the royals talked about what led to their decision to take a step back from (not drop) their royal duties and more. Meghan talked about not receiving any help (even when her mental health deteriorated) and family members expressing their concerns over what her child’s skin tone would be, once born. They also revealed their child was to receive no royal title or security, despite ongoing threats and being born into the royal family.
Meghan also set the record straight about a rumor that she made Kate Middleton cry, saying that, in fact, it was Kate who made her cry.
After a ton of controversy surrounding the Grammys, Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé showed up and showed out. Meg won three Grammys, one of which she shares with Bey for their hit “Savage” remix. And, with four wins that night and 28 total, Bey made history as the most Grammy-awarded singer ever (male or female).
Earlier this month, eight people were killed in three Atlanta massage parlor shootings. Six of those targeted were Asian women, making the attack (reportedly carried out by a 21-year-old white man) an obvious hate crime. Still, authorities debated the alleged shooter’s motives. Meanwhile, celebrities and public figures began speaking out as the news surfaced and #StopAsianHate trended online.
As we previously mentioned, crimes against the Asian American community have increased tremendously (149% in at least 16 big U.S. cities) after Donald Trump dubbed coronavirus the “Chinese Virus” last year. Trump’s words, along with slurs used by his racist followers, continue to incite blame and violent attacks aimed at Asian Americans.
Fans have been obsessed with Saweetie and Quavo since they first revealed their relationship, but this month their commitment took a turn for the worst. The internet couldn’t stop talking after Saweetie appeared on Respectfully Justin, a Revolt TV YouTube show hosted by social media star Justin LaBoy and Saweetie’s ex Justin Combs. When Combs seemed to be flirting, the rumor mill started and Saweetie set the record straight about any perceived disrespect toward Quavo:
I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.
— 220 (@Saweetie) March 19, 2021
I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. Excited for this new chapter of elevation 🙏🏽
— 220 (@Saweetie) March 19, 2021
Then Quavo responded.
I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time.
I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives.
— QuavoYRN (@QuavoStuntin) March 19, 2021
I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best 🙏🏾.
— QuavoYRN (@QuavoStuntin) March 19, 2021
But Saweetie got the last word… and her final say went viral.
Take care https://t.co/cNiQqDFtzR

Most recently, Quavo is also facing backlash after video footage of him and Saweetie in the middle of a physical altercation surfaced. The Migos rapper can be seen flinging Saweetie into an elevator and using his weight to push her down, after dodging a punch from her. According to TMZ, the video is from last year. Watch it here.
Chloe Bailey’s reign just won’t let up. On top of the fashion and spiciness she’s become adored for on her individual Instagram profile, the beautiful singer has also been getting back to her roots and performing some pretty cool covers. Chloe went viral with her women’s response record to Yung Bleu’s “You’re Mines Still.” She also put her umph on Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open” and Giveon’s “Heartbreak Anniversary.”
Wow, wow, wow!
Following the dramatic adventures of Wanda and Vision in Disney Plus series WandaVision, Marvel dropped The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, the hype surrounding the new series was unreal. But, when Marvel introduced fans to a new Captain America following the death of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), all hell broke loose on the internet. Absolutely no one wants Wyatt Russell to fill Evans’ shoes and fans took to Twitter to make that absolutely clear. See reactions here.
Ari Lennox has been showing off her ass(ets) on Instagram and we’re loving every moment. Once again, the “Shea Butter Baby” singer went viral for being beautiful — this time, during her birthday weekend. See one of our favorite moments below and head over to her official IG page for more fire.
God truly took his time.
Derrick Jaxn’s hypocrisy was definitely one of the most viral moments of March. The “relationship expert” got caught out there in an affair, after his unsuspecting mistress put him on blast. Jaxn supposedly told the young woman he was separated from his wife, which was a whole lie, of course. After denying the rumors, he admitted they were true, sending the internet into a spiral. His wife’s explanations regarding why she stayed by his side also kept everyone talking, as did her depressed appearance in said videos. BOSSIP explains in full here.
Lil Nas X also threw his hat in the ring this month, after he dropped his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video that was full of satanic imagery. In it, Nas X sports his most fashionable strip club attire and gives satan a lap dance. After he revealed a Nike Air Max 97 shoe with a single drop of blood in the air bubble, Nike sued to make it clear the company had no part in his “satan shoes.” Check out the video that ruffled tons of feathers, including Nick Young’s, below.
You muthaf***in’ right!
The Derek Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd has been triggering in several different ways and it’s only day 3 of a case that is expected to go on for weeks. Yesterday, we watched as several underaged witnesses gave heartbreaking testimony about what they saw on the afternoon of May 25, 2020. Much of it was very difficult to listen to. Children should not have to process this type of trauma in front of the world. Not because they are incapable of testifying but because George Floyd shouldn’t be dead.
That said, children aren’t the only ones who had to process extreme emotions. The adults who had to witness the state of Minnesota murder a man for absolutely no reason. Whereas children might lean toward sadness under these circumstances, grown folks who can better understand the history behind such a murder lean toward anger. Sadly, there is also significant historical trauma behind Black people being labeled as such. As if, feeling the emotion of anger makes one uncontrollable or beyond logic.
This is the tactic that Derek Chauvin’s defense attorney Eric Nelson tried to use against Williams in order to hopefully get Chauvin acquitted of cold-blooded murder. Williams was having NONE of it.
Shout out to Donald Williams II. God bless that brotha. For real. We’ve all been there at one point or another where a white person wants to make us out to be irrational or “wilding” in the case of The Exonerated Five.
New York has finally passed legislation to legalize adult marijuana use in the state and will also expunge previous convictions.
It’s 2021 and some states still haven’t passed updated drug laws, which means Marijuana is still ruining peoples lives for simple personal use and possession.
In the South, this behavior is expected, because it’s the bible belt and in some places, you still can’t even buy liquor on Sundays. The south is simply light years behind on everything, even outside of drug laws…but especially drug laws.
In places like New York, we expect them to be on the cutting edge of change, which has caused many to demand answers for why marijuana was still illegal–Especially when it’s a missed opportunity for revenue and jobs within the state. Earlier this year, Andrew Cuomo promised to take a look at legalizing marijuana after the pressure reached its peak. Today, Cuomo kept his word and signed off on legislation to legalize recreational use in New York. The state Senate passed the legislation with a vote of 40-23 while the state Assembly voted 100-49 in support of the bill.
“For too long the prohibition of cannabis disproportionately targeted communities of color with harsh prison sentences and after years of hard work, this landmark legislation provides justice for long-marginalized communities, embraces a new industry that will grow the economy, and establishes substantial safety guards for the public,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement released after the voting took place.
With the new bill in place, it makes up to 3 ounces or 24 ounces marijuana concentrate legal to possess while allowing five pounds at home. You can also grow up to six plants with a limit of 12 per house hold. Age limit will start at 21 years old and as far previous convictions for marijuana go, the bill creates automatic expungement of previous marijuana convictions that would now be legal in New York. This is a historic day that was long overdue for the state, you can read Cuomo’s full statement on this day below.
Jim Jones is one of the most inspirational success stories in Hip-Hop having gone from Cam’ron’s hype man to rapper to entrepreneur.
From investing in the marijuana business to creating his own crypto currency, Capo has been on his business grizzly while continuing to drop new music with Harry Fraud. Looking to make dough on everything from Charlamange’s book to the interview itself, Jones is a man on a money mission and he’s willing to impart his knowledge on listeners interested in flipping whatever they can online.
Today the Dip Set capo sat down with Charlamagne Tha God while Angela Yee and DJ Envy zoomed in and opened up about his business ventures, Fred The Godson encouraging him to chase the rap bag and helping put Supreme on the map.
Here are the 7 things we learned from Jim Jones on The Breakfast Club.
Jim Jones’ Quarantine Studios is a set-up that helps people get in touch with entertainment lawyers, graphic designers, publicists, and DJ’s. Interestingly enough Jones also uses it to record music using virtual reality in real time and can have people virtually join in him the studio. He used it to record his album with Harry Fraud who he still hasn’t met in person. Again, Jones on some next ish.
