The world is mourning the loss of a true hero following the death of Chadwick Boseman.
Just a couple of days after his passing was announced, a petition has started to replace a South Carolina confederate monument with a statue in the actor’s honor. The petition, titled “Replace the Confederate Monument in Downtown Anderson with a Statue of Chadwick Boseman,” reads in part:
“With Chadwick Boseman’s early passing, it is important that we honor a true local legend my immortalizing him in stone in front of the courthouse. The Confederate Monument belongs in a museum, but has no right to be displayed there. I believe the community should come together to honor someone from Anderson, South Carolina that was able to change the movie industry. He opened many doors for many young black people with his leading roles in movies such as Black Panther or Marshall. It is only natural that his hometown honors what he did. There is no need for political controversy in this decision. The old statue need not be destroyed; however, with the engravings on the base, it is beyond time for its retirement.”
“It should preserve history, but not honor the ideals for which the Confederacy stood,” the author, ‘Anderson Citizen,’ continues.
For those who aren’t aware, Chadwick was born and raised in Anderson. So far, the petition has garnered nearly 6,500 signatures with a goal of 7,500. Sign here and may the king rest in peace.

Although many people got their entire life to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “WAP” music video, there were also some critiques.
Many people were annoyed that Kylie Jenner had a whole segment in the music video where she walks down the hallways in leopard print. Some fans were calling on her to be edited out of the video, and others even called on 98-year-old comedy legend Betty White to appear in the video instead.

But as Cardi later stated in a tweet, “It was so important to me to include different women, that are different races and come from different backgrounds but are so powerful and influential.”
In an interview with Hot 97 last week, Cardi B dished more details on how the video was planned and she provided a fun fact that could’ve made the music video even more epic.
Lizzo was supposed to be in the video.
“I really wanted Lizzo on the video,” Cardi told Nessa in the interview. “I’m cool with Lizzo and everything. Like, we’ve been sending DMs to each other and all that. But she was on vacation so she wasn’t in town. I was like, oh my gosh, because I had a whole vision about how I wanted to see Lizzo and everything. But she was on vacation.”
Shame.
The stars did not align for us in this instance, unfortunately.
But who are we to hate on vacation time?
Get your R&R Lizzo!
We’ll catch you on the next epic collab. Until then, you can check out Cardi B’s full Hot 97 interview below.

Sooo, uh, we didn’t have Niecy Nash coming out as queer and marrying a woman on our 2020 Bingo card. We also didn’t foresee this happening a few months after finalizing her divorce with second husband Jay Tucker.
But it happened and our fave 50-year-old baddie looked happy in the stunning reveal where she introduced her wife Jessica Betts to the world.
“Mrs. Carol Denise Betts 💍,” she captioned. “@jessicabettsmusic #Love Wins🌈 @robertector.”
Betts shared the reveal to her own page with the caption “I got a whole Wife 👽💍.”
“#PlotTwist,” another caption read on a photo of the two cuddled close together.
Betts previously worked with Nash on an episode of “Claws” in 2018. At the time, Nash shared a behind-the-scenes video from the episode on Instagram.
“#BTS One of my favs ❤️@jessicabettsmusic this was my [character’s] wedding song,” Nash, who plays Desna Simms on the series explained at the time. “It didn’t make it in the final cut but I love it! ➡️ for her singing MUCH better than me.”
Interestingly, Nash can be seen referring to Betts as her “homegirl.”
While speaking with ET last November, Nash revealed that she wasn’t ready to start dating after her split in December 2019.
“I’m just over here drinking my water and healing,” she said with a smile. “I ain’t ready to put all this back on the block. It’s too much too soon.”
This marks Nash’s third marriage. Her first to Don Nash from 1994 to 2007 and her recently dissolved union with Jay Tucker from 2011-2020.
The newlyweds had not publicly been known as a couple nor did Nash identify as queer before the viral reveal that left social media scrambling for answers.
How do you feel about Niecy’s surprise wedding to Mrs. Betts? Should we have seen this coming? Tell us in the comments and peep the funniest, wildest and pettiest reactions from the latest episode on the flip.

Here’s what Montecito residents are finding out about their new neighbors, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle … wherever they go, tourists, helicopters and paparazzi follow.
The quiet little town outside Santa Barbara is still buzzing about its newest residents, who moved into a multi-million dollar mansion, but some locals are already getting fed up with the area’s new normal.
Harry and Meghan haven’t even been seen in public, and their mere presence is driving folks wild … not because of them, but because of the influx of paparazzi on the hunt for the shot.
The scene on the ground is pretty hectic, especially for an affluent area that’s supposed to be an enclave for celebs looking to escape the limelight … choppers are zooming over Harry and Meghan’s hood, sometimes 4 times a day, and paps are staking out their home and a nearby shopping center.
The wayward royals are also attracting tourists … we’re told more visitors are showing up in town and asking local shop owners if they’ve seen Harry and Meghan.
Montecito is famously known as a no-paparazzi zone — Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah, Rob Lowe, Carol Burnett, Jane Lynch and the Kardashians have no problem dining out and shopping in on the low — but everything’s changed since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved in.
Most locals tell us they want the paps to give it a rest, because they feel things are getting to the point where everyone’s privacy is being compromised, and they’re super annoyed.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
As we reported … Harry and Meghan surfaced in Los Angeles last week, working with a charity to help children in need … but they still haven’t been seen in Montecito.
Locals are bracing for the worst … they’re expecting Harry and Meghan to finally venture out after the pandemic, which they fear will amp things up in a big way.
Word to the wise … if you visit Montecito, don’t regurgitate anything you read about Harry and Megan putting the town on the map. Locals say it’s been a high-society town long before the royals came knocking.
Host Keke Palmer started off the VMAs on a somber note, dedicating the show to “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman, “a true hero,” who died Friday.
